Geeez, that's something you don't see very often. At least here in the States....

I wish we had that around here. We need the neighborhood pubs around here. The closest place ot me is about 5 miles from here and way to trendy for my tastes.

We visit the West Country at least once a year - they are Celts, after all! Some of the pubs have been in existence since the 1600s.... A favourite used to be Jamaica Inn, on Dartmoor, which Daphne Du Maurier based a novel upon...... Now, it is just a trendy tea shoppe (for the tourists!) - selling the usual tourist 'toot n tat' (as we call it in Scotland!)....... such a waste of a wonderful pub dry.gif

In Edinburgh, there seems to be a pub on every corner...

I love the Inspector Rebus novels of Ian Rankin, who writes about Edinburgh. His books are so true to life, that reading one is like taking a walking tour of my home city..... I've drunk in many of the pubs he mentions in his novels biggrin.gif

ENJOY IN MODERATION -- NOTHING is as bad as a mead hangover!

blink.gif Boy have you got that right! Sometimes all it takes is one or two swigs to put you over the top, too! blink.gif

A bit like those "teas" of the Long Island variety, right biggrin.gif ? Don't feel anything until after six of 'em but you're plowed after two of 'em biggrin.gif ?

mmmhhh mead =) me and some friends drive to Heavy Metal Festivals together and we always have several litres of mead with us to drink in front of the nice wee fire... I'll definetly going to try it, I just have to bring Jim to keep his wine bottles!

I just discovered Ian Rankin, and he has such a cool writing-style! wow, I read some of his books and thought that the style is so much superior to so many other writers.
And he's a Cardenden Boy, just as mine is!
