In many ways I am still a child
I'll never belong or fit in.
I may not grow and understand as you do or think I should.
In your eyes, I am but a child.
Yet I am smart and I can learn
I have love
Lot's of Love waiting to be shared.

I live still in the child's world of wonder and magic
Yet I must struggle to survive also in an adult world that I can never truly
understand.
My world is soft and gentle and full of great beauty.
This adult world in which I am forced to live is often full of hurt and hate.
So whenever I can, I escape with my little ones to our world
Our special place, where books and stories abound and things are real.
We explore and discover and grow and learn.
We climb Gordonís Hill and can tell you where the grickle grass grows and show you the home of the Lorax and so much more.

Though I am physically handicapped I can travel worlds away. For to me as to all small children, the magical world that is found in books is very much real.
We can travel there and we are free.

Friend, Come travel with me and my wee'uns.
Leave your cares and worries behind.
Come spend a bit o' time in our world of wonder and magic.

Amen to that! Young ones understand so much that we tend to forget as we age. Let us always remember.

Outside looking in

A child stands on the outside looking in.
Never to be a part of the play.
They grow but the child is always left behind.
Always to be outside looking in.
Just once wishing to be seen and accepted.
Wanting to be included, just once.
Why must the child always watch and be alone?
Just once
Can't you take time out of busy play to include the child who is different?
Must this child always be kept outside looking in?
The child grows yet is always left behind
Because she is slow
Always she is alone.

Rebecca,
You are never alone. God is always with you. Also, you have A friend here, who always has you in my thoughts & prayers. You have opened up a part of me that makes me feel so much better. I feel very honored to have met you, you are a very special friend to me. You are so very talented with your words, when I first met you here, ( on St. Patrick's Day ), I knew you you were a very special person. Feel very privilged that you call me your friend. Best wishes to you always! Thanks for all the poems & e-mails you send me, will treasure them always! I still think you need to get your work published. I would definately buy a copy!

Rebecca Ann,
I find that I can relate very much with your poem.
Because that's the way I grew up, never had the feeling of belonging.
Even though my parents loved me. Even today I still feel that way.
I was adopted as a baby but I was not always loved by some in the family
because of prejudice against adopted kids.
This is called ignorance I know but still I grew up the child outside looking in.
Thanks for that wonderful poem.
