Maisky, that is a beautiful pup. There ain't nothin' in the world quite so purty as a shiny new puppy. Best wishes to you both, may you grow old together.

Maisky! Please forgive me for just now seeing this thread. I have been in another world till now.

Please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of Dump. Shelties are my love breed and I have lost four of them in the last 22 years. Each so very painful as I can only imagine what you have gone through.

Your new pup is beautiful! How old is he/she and what age? So glad you found a new friend so quick.

some folks think I am heartless, but whenever I lose a beloved furry friend, I am always quick to contact the Sheltie rescue to comfort our hearts and for our Sheltie left behind who has no pal to be and play with. I got my "Irish" doggie two weeks after my beloved Teddy Bear left this planet. Some folks thought this was too soon, but I knew my Nikki was extremely depressed and needed company...and so did the parents. Best thing I could have done as my Nikki left behind not only whole heartedly welcomed Irish (female Sheltie) but they are like an old married couple! wink.gif biggrin.gif It is really comical how they both are together.

Maisky! Please keep us posted, eh?

Thanks friends. The pup is 10 weeks old. Her name is "Chocolate Paws". She is, of course, a Cheseapeke Bay Retriever.

She's a perfect little beauty. Ditto what everyone else has said -- hope you and Choc enjoy each other for many years in wonderful health. And don't give up on the other thing. I hadn't realized your Dump was a victim of the bad food scandal. It's an outrage.

Note that in Paws' picture, her eyes are glowing red. I initially thought that was from the flash.....I have now determined it is because she is a demon pup! She pulled a bill payment envelope out of my briefcase this morning and ate it. I dont think my insurance company will buy the story: "my dog ate the bill". laugh.gif

Due to her increasingly destructive behavior, The Dept. of Homeland Insecurity (who are, of course, watching everything that goes on in our homes) sent me a message saying that Paws has been added to the Terrorist Watch List. rolleyes.gif

I remember only too well the destruction. Just take her to the insurance office for a day and they will understand. LOL

Maisky! How is Paws?! I suspect that her demonic behavior will last a wee bit more while! laugh.gif Puppies! Ya gotta love em! Is she all house trained yet?

Well I just had to share that I believe I will be losing my Nikki boy this year..hopefully not before. He will turn 12 on June 1st. He is on meds for hypo-thyroidism. Has early stages of renal disease, had a bad bout of pancreatitis a few weeks ago, has osteoarthritis to the point I can no longer take him on walks. He is currently on Cosequin, but the vet plans to change him to a better med called Dasequin. He is also given pain medication every day now. I have had him since he was two and the day he leaves this earth is really going to unrattle me. I so dread that day. I hope he will last the year and more, but time will tell, eh?

Nikki is on a special Science Diet G/D for both kidneys and pancreas. I feed him both kibble and a little bit of the canned (same brand).

Irish is on the Science Diet kibble for Seniors.

Take care all!

In response to your question, check out the "raising a puppy" thread under animal talk. I have great sympathy for you losing your loved one.

I am in discussions with a claim management service employed by purina about the loss of The Dump.

We lost our Sadie last night. I thought that I was prepared for it , but I wasn't. She was 16 years old and one of my babies. We still have 2 more old Labs and it broke my heart this morning when they were going from room to room hunting her. sad.gif
