Barddas plays traditional and non-traditional music from Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales. Barddas was formed in early 2002 with a desire to bring traditional Celtic tunes to the public, with a touch of modern flare, without taking away the charm of the original piece. From traditional ballads, sea shanties or everyone's favorite sing a long drinking song, the spirit of the night is sure to be lifted!

This is NOT your mothers Celtic music. So, come and have a pint, raise your glass, and enjoy the sounds of Cincinnati's most energetic Celtic Group.

Featuring<hr>
Joe Moorman: Mandolin, Tin whistles, Auto Harp, vocals.

Jason P. Montgomery: 6-12 string Guitar, percussion, vocals.

I am not sure when the next date we'll be playing is due to Joe's dad just had a stroke today... so I know he'll be needing to deal with family issues fora while.....

Right now we don't have any up coming dates. We are sending out a bunch of new press packs to several places in and out of town.( That we haven't played before) But right now we have been concentrating on new material, for the live show and for the new album. We have 3 original tracks written and arranged for the cd already, and we are looking through a lot of obscure Trad. tunes. ( turning out to be about 90% Scottish tunes!!! wink.gif )

However, we did send Paul a few live recordings from a show we did late this summer! It's all new stuff... ( material that isn't on the CD) the croud is about 200-250... Crazy bunch of people!!!!! LOL!!!

Thanks everybody!!! It means a lot!!!!

I'll keep ya posted thumbs_up.gif

HI Barddas

I believe I have caught 2 songs so far South Australia and THe Diamond?

Just wanted to let you know that I enjoyed them keep up the good work. I would like to see you play some time as I live in Indianapolis and I come to the Cinci area on a regular or semi regular basis.

The Diamond is ours. I can't remember who does S. Aust. off hand.....

There should be some of our live stuff in the request base this week. we sent Macfive 4 live tracks from a Festival we played at a few months back.... smile.gif

We are getting ready to start sending promo packets up in your area. I know there is a Claddaghs Irish Pub up that way. The one here thinks we get a bit too rowdy..LOL!
But if you have any recomendations.... Please feel free to PM them to me! we would GREATLY appreciate it... And I'll try and swing a beer_mug.gif for ya if it turns out..LOL!
Thanks again for the kind words Raven

Posted by: Raven 21-Nov-2003, 02:42 PM
I must be out of my head. I could have swore that I heard you guys do South Australia. There are a couple of versions on here. I may have looked at the song name on one artist and the artist name on yours.

Or perhaps it was a fabrication of one of the voices in my head smile.gif

I will PM you when we play the Claddagh next. They just book us as a duet for the lack of rowdiness factor biggrin.gif

You might try the Claddagh here in Indianapolis downtown. They haven't booked us since the Manager changed last but you know the deal with hometown stuff (grin) email me if you want contact information or information on the Indianapolis Irish fest.

The kind words for you are well deserved.

Peace

I just got my Barddas cd in the mail and all I can say is
Run, Don't Walk
and buy a copy of your own!

My favorite song I have to say is Banks of the Bann.
Guess I'm just a sucker for the sentimental. rolleyes.gif
Then again Black Velvet Band is awesome too.
And The Conjuring is way cool. cool.gif
And Glen Slide is rockin
Don't make me choose! biggrin.gif

Jason,
Since my Family and I will be out your way summer of '04 I would like to know any dates that you get so that we can see you in action and also get a chance to meet with you and yours. So far I love all your songs I have heard but, the conjuring is my fav. I have some friends here in Oregon who run the largest Celtic Pub in DownTown Portland. I was wondering if you would travel this far out. there is also rumor of a celtic fair in the gorge tis year. The "VIGS" have been asked to help with security. I'm the project co-ordinator for the VIGS so if it pans out and if you and Black Lily would travel this way, let me know so I can put you on the list.
they are expecting 4-5000 people at the music stands alone, we are hoping to see a good 25-30,000 patrons in that week.

Talk to you soon,
Angel

Mirri, I would love to come over and play for you!!!! Believe me! But unfortunately we are plankton in the GREAT BIG SEA of Music. If we were doing this 24/7 I would risk it. But with having a "normal" job..it makes it VERY difficult.
Maybe we'll do a live video of a few shows?????
I've been recording some of the shows we do. So.... I guess that is possible... wink.gif

Barddas,

When you mentioned that you may be playing in Columbus, Ohio, was that going to be in Dublin during their Irish Festival? unsure.gif

Posted by: barddas 28-Jan-2004, 12:35 PM
I have not heard anything back form them yet. and being the new kids on the celtic music block we are low on the totem pole. I know form doing sound at ther cinci Celtic fest that thousand of groups send in press packets to be invited to festivals..... few are chosen... So, we'll see!!!!

Rumor has it we might be playing the cincinnati celtic fest though.......

Posted by: Danann 28-Jan-2004, 01:59 PM
I'm not sure if they still have it, but the Ren Fest that they have in Harveysburg Ohio used to have a highland weekend. I know they had local artists come in and play during that time. You might can look into that. Its one of the biggest Res Fests in the US. The link is: http://www.renfestival.com/

By the way, I love your music.

Oh I am so excited, Barrdas! I really look forward to the new CD! Keep us posted on its release so we can put in orders!! smile.gif

Posted by: barddas 29-Oct-2004, 08:55 AM
Just a quick update on the album progress.

Things are going well. We have a total of about 32 songs for the cd. About 50% original material ( jigs/reels, and modern infusions ie- 'Morrigan') We are going to narrow the list down to about half that for the album. Which is difficult because there isn't a song we don't like.

The 3 songs that were picked by Highlander/Celticradio.net members will be noted. And when the cd is completely finished CR.N will be the first to receive it. We are looking at the end of december hopefully. I know that is a month later than planned but, ya know how things go....
Thanks for all of the support and emails!!!!

Cheers
Jason

Thanks for the Hoorahs about the new Cd.
Just some more updates.

We went over several pieces of live footage this week, from various festivals and club/pub shows. This is for a 3-4 song DVD that will accompany the new Cd. The songs and footage have been chosen. Now it is up to the our video guy ( Tony) to make it look nice. wink.gif
We wanted to put this in because we have had many request to come play at various cities. Some possible...others not. sad.gif So we thought we would add this little DVD in with the new cd for those that want to see us but may never get the chance to.

Thanks again for the support!

Cya round like a record

Hi Jason! I look so very forward to your new CD, but the added DVD feature is going to be really a wonderful addition! Thanks so much from those of us who have never seen you and live too far to do so. Hopefully we will all have the pleasure. Keep us posted!

Posted by: barddas 03-Feb-2005, 03:07 PM
Groamins all!

Just a quick update.
The DVD is 95% finished! I have seen the majority of the footage and I do have to say that it looks *really* good. Thanks Tony!

The Cd still in process. I know, I know... I thought it would be finished too. LOL!
But sometimes things get a little hectic, and unforseen difficulties. But those 'bugs'
have been worked out, and now we are back at it.

Don't worry it will be finished soon! Really. We are working hard to put out a really well rounded album. A good mix of fairly traditional, and what we are calling Alt. Celtic. Sort of visiting some of our former playing styles in conjunction with Trad. ( sortta like 'The Diamond' on the first album, and Morrigan off of the Summerset Live! set. )

We did a test run of some of the new material during a live show recently and it was well recieved! ( Thankfully!!!! wink.gif )

Thanks for all the support,

Cheers

Jason

Thanks for all the feedback, from emails, and PM's!

Just a wee update... The DVD is being repoduced as we speak. Found a guy that was willing to give us a great deal!
The cd moves forward, we really got some nice stuff laid down last night. It was nice since last sunday we had a difficult day. GGGRRRRrrrr Nothing sounded good enough.....
There will be a temperary hault on recording...A sudden sickness calls me to New York to be with family. It's always something, eh? Hopefully this health issue will be gone with a few treatments and the stress of it will pass as well....

Thanks again, for all the positive emails, and Pm's....

I swear it will be finished!!!

Hello everyone!

What a crazy year this has been. Between recording the never ending CD, and live shows and not to mention things in m'personal life it has been a full year! I hope everyone is doing well. And I know the cd is running behind in its release date. *sigh* Like I said it has been a very full year!
It should be finished by summer's end. I know it seems like it is never going to get here.....believe me! But I think it will be well worth the wait.

Here are a few Photo's my wife took during the St. Patty's day show. We have a big show this weekend at a local music fest. So there should be several photo's to share.
Thanks for being patient....

Cheers!

Hello everyone.
I just noticeed my last post showed up 3 times! That's odd??? unsure.gif I'm such a dork.

I heard the mix down today of one of the tracks for the new album! It is an instrumental titled~'Dol seachad na linntean' which is Scottish Gaelic for 'Through the ages'. I was so impressed! Joe and Tony have been working really hard mixing things down, and they have done a fantasic job! I can't wait for everyone to hear it.

This album will hopefully take everyone on journey from Ancient Times through to the Clearances, to the present.

Thanks for your patience, and support. I think we are making something very special.

Cheers,
Jason

Hello, everyone
It has been a long time since I have posted anything! Too long.
To give you a run down
We've been playing shows and working on new material. WE also added a new memeber. Amy Chapmon she has taken over most of the percussion duties. As well as adding additional vocals !

This saturday will be our first show since mid April. We had to take a break as Joe's wife went into hospital for surgery. The things turned for the worse . She remained in hospital until the end of August when she passed away.

So, now we are back to gigging and writing for a new album.

I think that is it... hope to see you out there!

Thanks

Jason
