Sorry...I'm seemingly the queen of typos. I have to correct this as I meant that these spirits are nothing to be SCARED of...

QUOTE (WizardofOwls @ 17-Aug-2004, 08:58 PM)
Personally, while I believe in souls, I do not believe in eart-bound ghosts. However, that does not mean that I don't believe in hautnings! Its just that I don't believe its ghosts that are doing the haunting! Ever heard of demons?

O'siyo WizardofOwls,
~Aye, I have indeed heard of demons..perhaps my beliefs about demons differ from yours and others but, I do believe in demons and I also believe they are entirely different from 'spirits' dontgetit.gif
~ I believe demons are tortured souls..I believe these individuals met their fate in horrific, traumatic and sudden ways sad.gif I believe when they 'haunt' or 'torture' us it isn't truly being directed at us~ It's just these demons are so revengeful and angry they have no choice but to act out in malicious ways~ For instance, poltergeist activity, malicious 'doings' around the home like glass breaking, furniture moving, unsettling 'touches' such as being pushed or locked in a room unsure.gif We just happen to be the 'unfortunate' ones that get the 'blunt end' of their torture~ These entities are going to do whatever and already 'we' have been taught to fear 'spirits' so not being able to 'explain' or 'understand' why they exist already puts us on the defensive...so when these unexplained occurences happen it only adds to our fear~ Fact of the matter is these demons are malicious but not entirely hopeless~ I just know that with the 'right words/actions' these demons can find peace~ I believe they have no choice but to 'haunt' until they are given assistance to the 'Other Plane' of 'life'~ This 'assistance' I believe is why we exist here on Mother Earth..making room for new lives sleep.gif

I don't believe in ghosts...I've never really had an experience with one.

I don't believe in ghosts of past loved ones ect. I think that if we do see what we think is a ghost of a family member, for instance, that the vision is that of an angel or demon. An angel may appear to us in the form of someone we trust to send us a "message". A demon on the other hand may be there only to make one think they are seeing the quote unquote hollywood ghost to test ones faith.

Ay, I do believe in ghosts. I've met some of them. I met them during Samhain rituals, I once met one in my bedroom. I woke up and was no longer alone in a room I was alone in when I locked the door before going to sleep. I met them near my friends house which is standing in a small town about 30 minutes by car from Berlin. I met them inside my friends house.
The longer I learn the more I feel them. During the last year, which was my second year of learning wicca, it was more frequently. And all of those encounters happened during the two years I do learn wicca.
I believe you need a certain kind of sensitivity to feel them. The more sensitive you are the less there need be for them to contact you and for you to feel them.
That's what I believe.

I've seen too many strange things to discount the possiblity of ghosts. We have a few of our own up here in Upper Michigan. Mostly to do with Lake Superior but I've heard stories of a few in our two towns. Lots of mafia, moonshining, mining stuff up here. Only had two experiences myself and neither were friendly. Once when I was about five with a group of friends and once after my conversion to Roman Catholicism. The memory second one still gives me goosebumps.

the Roman Catholic Church reconizes ghosts (Lots of stories) but wants us to refrain from communication because of what they may or may not be.

Absolutely do believe, I have lived in three different houses. had one in a house I lived in back in the 70's it was not nice, but it also was not evil. Lived in a house here from 89 to 01, we had at least two that we believe where children or at least child like. They only played with our grandkids toy's!! and only at night and never when the grandkids are here. We have one here now! since we moved out into the country, it stays in the living room and only plays with the dogs.

DISCIPLINE MUST BE A HABIT SO INGRAINED THAT IT IS STRONGER THAN THE EXCITEMENT OF BATTLE OR THE FEAR OF DEATH.
General George S. Patton

Laws that forbid the carrying of firearms, disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. Such laws make things worse for the assulted, and better for the assailants. They serve rather to encourge, than to prevent homicides. For an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.

Yes, I believe.
Seeing is not believing.
Believing is seeing.

If you really want to have some fun, take a good cassette recorder.
I use a Panasonic. Find an old graveyard out of the city. This is to
cut down on the noise transmitted through the ground. Night when
all is quite is the best. Choose a grave, unwrap a fresh new tape,
place the recorder on the grave. If you have a mic. it is even better
because you drop it into the flower pot hole. Turn on the recorder and
walk away. Count your steps so you will discount the sound on your
tape. DO NOT TALK, MOVE, COUGH, SNIFF, OR MAKE ANYOTHER SOUND
FOR THE LENGTH OF TIME YOU PLAN TO RECORD. Check that there is not
a train track close or roadway as these sounds will travel through the ground. Now when you return to the grave to turn off the recorder, again count your steps to discount the noise on the recordeing.
I do not have as much luck with the mini recorders as they sound to tinny.
I have recorded some amazing sounds. Don't expect to get a lot of scary
stuff the first time out. I pick graves from the war years, unless I have been
ask to record a special grave by family. Believe me you will get a whole new
slant on this subject. I've been at it for 22 years and still get excited at what
I capture on tape.

Absolutely!! I've had several ghosts in my life - some good some bad. My kids still have ghosts following them from their youth. I've had very pleasant experiences as well as some terrifying experiences! I loved when my Aunt Weege used to visit - she was great comfort and chased away an evil entity. Ghosts? Absolutely!!!

Very interesting everyone. I'll have to try that Donajhi.

I have lived in this house for quite sometime now. I couldn't tell you how often it happens but it always happens around 11:30 P.M. to midnight. The sliding doors open and shut then thats it gone. One day I should get a video camera and set it up but when you don't know what day it's going to happen it makes that kind of hard to do. I just think this is a awesome thread.
