I thought global warming was being caused by the Flying Spaghetti Monster because of the decline of Pirates.

It's also hard to see how anyone could have been bored by that film, but I guess that's always a matter of taste. unsure.gif

i am sorry the film was a bunch of penguins walking to there nesting grounds...
grouping together walking back to eat..... walking back so their mate could eat...
than the eggs hatching... and then that "global warming" is making their trip shorter.... hardly worth an hour and a half... i will admit some of the photography was quite breathtaking. i was excited when it started but it was drawn out far to long..... and i dont really like morgan freeman.... angel_not.gif

Everyone thinks that Global Warming means we are going to fry. Just the opposite. Sorry to inject a bit of seriousness into this, but it is becoming more and more apparent that the key to the whole environment issue lays with the water - the deep sea water and in specific the currents that run from south the north.

As the polar ice caps melt they are putting a tremendous amount of fresh water into the North Atlantic. The Atlantic Convey Belt (The Gulf Stream) brings warm water from the south, to the north. It is why Canada and Europe are not put into a deep freeze every year.

Fresh water from the poles will stop the Conveyor Belt (The Gulf Stream). First it will slow down (which it is already doing - they have documented a slow down from Greenland to Ireland), and maybe eventually it will stop all together and reverse itself. The reason is the Gulf Stream is light salty water, and fresh water is heavier.

When this happens the east coast and Canada will start experiencing mini-like iceage winters - europe will be plunged into severe winters. Its not a matter if it is going to happen, but when.

There is nothing that can be done about it, no limitations in the world can prevent a process that has already started.

Think of it this way. This earth has been here for billions of years, has experienced volcanic eruptions, pollution and chemical discharges that dwarf humans little tampering with the environment. It is foolish to think there is not somesort of built in switch that prevents our planet from over-heating and frying.

The latest I read on this switch, and which shocked scientist from Woods Hole Massachusetts, is that it can happen suddenly - maybe with 20-30 years or sooner.

Ok, everyone run to the store and stock up on plenty of milk and bread! biggrin.gif
