Live365 returns, one year after going silent.

Almost exactly one year after Live365 went dark, sending thousands of small webcasters scrambling for new platforms or giving up their stations, Live365 is back.

Speculation is, it will be run similarly to Pandora and other like stations that inject advertising into the streams and offer little 'free' content. I miss it, but it's good to see an active page again.

Live365 provided us with a lot of traffic and listeners. I would venture to say that 50% of our members came from Live365.

At one time all of our channels were located on their platform and while it provided a lot of listeners, their technology was buggy. We had to develop scripts to actively watch the stream and notify us when it went down.

Just realized they only offer up to 1500 TLH on their lowest plan. We would never be able to stay below that number of hours and the highest plan is 7000 hours. Again, we would probably exceed that and would quickly put us out of business with the new costs.

We are much better staying with SonixCast and ad-supported Radionomy at this time.

I just "re-found" it online--not many stations though. I am grateful for my app and for Celtic Radio.

Yes it is sad what has become of Live365. Such a great community of broadcasters and listeners. They had a broadcaster forum on there and people just loved to broadcast.

A lot of the broadcasters just did it for the excitement of running their own stations of carefully selected tunes. Some of the music too was hard to find, or not as popular genres.

Many old time broadcasters simply did not understand the new technology as they were locked into to the Live365 that they had come to know and love. It was sad to see them raise the white flag and give up. I don't think they could afford the new price structure over there.

Just checked out their directory and there is no Celtic Genre and the Folk Genre has NO channels listed.

We will try and keep the music going and bringing to the forefront music and musicians that need to be heard.
