i was at UL last semester and i loved it. The school system in my opinion is harded (a grade based on 1 paper and 1 final exam both of which are essays is not my cup of tea) the school here in the states. the city of limerick is also great and dont let people tell you different. smile.gif take care all.

see ya,
lauren

since you are on a tight budget be prepare the exchange rate for the euro is not the best. my best advice is that if you can afford to rent a car for a week do so. youll get to see a lot more of ireland in the short amount of time you are here. just be prepared that the driving is on the other side of the road along with the grear shift. also, set up camp in on place for a while and go to places near there. like limerick is pretty central to a lot of the south west of ireland.

hope all is well,
lauren

that acticle reminds me of a master card commercial that they ran over here on st paddy day. i dont remember it exactly but it goes something like this, a typical master card commercial with a bit of a jab at the end:

gaint leprican hats, 50 euro
traditional irish village (shows a paerson holding up a lil model village), 15 euro
knowing what it really means to be Irish, priceless

let me tell you, that commercia had the study abroad students talking. but anyway, we went on to the st paddy's day parade on o'connell st right down the center of limerick and we had a great time. some bought hats, some bought flags, and we all bought drink. this guy makes it look like the irish dont celebrate st paddy's day as much as they do over here but they do. the st paddy's day parade in dublin was as big as any parade that is held in nyc. the holiday is just celebrated in a different way. we all had a great time.

hope all is well,
lauren

p.s. it actually did rain on our parade that day so we just went to the pub and had a pint.

if yall remember i am studying in limerick at the moment i couldnt help but write something about this. all the american students always talk about how when we get home we are gonna be saying things that we would say here that just dont make sense in the us. some of my favorites are:
-craic (good craic, how's the craic)
-things are always brilliant or gorgeous
-yer man ( that is that person over there that you are talking about)
-half 9 (or whatever time you are talking about, you say this for 9 30)
-everyone ( boy or girl) are lads

there are probaly some other ones that i cant think of now cause i hear them so much that is it just natural.

hope all is well!,
lauren

you hit on what i was questioning exactly. i personally enjoy walking my own path b/c i believe that a person's faith(whatever it may be) is a very personal thing. i think it is something you have to discover on your own whether it be by thinking about it, reading about it ,talking about it, ect. i know that i personally love to talk about religion b/c it helps me clarify what i believe in as well as understand other people. when it comes to walking you own path or belonging to a group i think it depends on the personality. i mean me personally i am not comfortables following a grp when it comes to religion b/c it feels confining to me b/c i have always been an independent thinker. but other people might not feel that way or they might be more comfortable in a group. what do yall think?

thanks for responding. the reason i asked is b/c i grew up christian but i don't feel like i fit into that group of people. therefore i always find this an interesting question. when i asked that i already had an idea(basically what you said) of what i thought i just am interested of othere peoples opinions.

after reading that whole thing on halloween a question came to mind. what do you think it is about human nature that makes a lot of people want to classify themselves into a religious group(i.e. a group of people with the same religious beleifs)? i think i am going to classify myself so i am not misunderstood. this is a question about human nature not specifically about religion.but since the two often go hand in hand it should be interesting to see the results of me asking this question.

lauren

p.s. can you tell i am a college student? wink.gif
