Most of you know that I am a preacher. I have lived and worked on the Navajo Nation for over 18 years. It has been and is my joy and privilege to serve the Navajo people and our Lord.

There are no "new" truths in the Bible, but there are truths that are new to me! In my studies, I came across a neat nugget that I had discovered years ago, but sadly had forgotten.

Students of the Bible often see Genesis 3:15 as the first prophetic mention of Christ and His virgin birth. Yes, I believe that Jesus was born of a virgin lass in Bethlehem. Not here to argue; I'm a Biblical literalist. One phrase in Genesis 3:15 is "it shall bruise thy head," referring to Jesus' ultimate victory over satan.

For all those years, people had been waiting for "it." When would "it" come? In the inspiration of Scripture, every word is important.

When the angels announced the birth of Christ to the shepherds in the field, they immediately left for Bethlehem to see if the things that had been told to them were true. Luke records that they found Mary, Joseph, and the Baby lying in the manger. Then comes Luke 2:17 - "And when they had seen it." The "it" that had been waited for all these years had finally come! The shepherds told everyone about "it!" What a wonderful story!!

I trust that you have seen "it" this Christmas! The greatest Christmas gift I ever received was when I repented of my sins and called on Jesus to do what I could not do myself. He forgave me and saved me.

May the wonder of Christmas shine in your hearts not just during this wonderful season, but all year long. God's Christmas gift, wrapped in swaddling clothes, was given for you and me. Praise the Lord for His goodness!

Merry Christmas, everyone! Have a great and wonderful day!

Thank you Haynes for sharing this. I keep a bible close at hand, usually on my desk. It somehow makes me feel better knowing it is there. I hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas and I wish you and even better 2015!
Smile
