In 1307 the day of this attack on the Templars was Friday 13th, hence its long standing association with bad luck. Many Templars escaped the persecution by fleeing to Scotland, King Robert the Bruce had fallen out with the Pope. he was therefore only to happy to give refuge to the templars. In the Kilmartin valley in Argyllshire there are many grave stones bearing Templar symbols-such as a depiction of a sword-as is the way with Templar grave stones. In the countryside south of Edinburgh there is a village named Temple, and also Roslin has many alleged associations with the Templars.
