I had a question on whether or not the name McDuffie is an Irish or Scottish name it is one of the many celtic families I'm related to and was wondering since Duffie is an Irish name but when I search on the net I tend to get mixed results.

Why not claim both? One of the clans I belong to, Clan McLoughlin, has both Irish and Scottish roots. I say I'm affiliated with the Irish clan because I already have a Scottish clan affiliation (Maxwell).

the name search sites that I use, say that it is both Irish and Scottish. So clam ether one or both. But you will have to trace back your own family history to be sure where the name comes from.
