Ok a little while ago I started to do a bar/pub beer_mug.gif in our family room in our basement. I am going with a Celtic/retro/sport theme. Too much?? I got the bar from a relative who was getting rid of it. So I said I'll take it. It is about 6 feet long and a cheesey black leather front with the little silver buttons. I love it. Hence the part retro theme. I have several lava lamps going. Love the lava lamps.

I started it out as a joke and really just to say I have a bar and here it is. A little cheesy, funny little thing. rolleyes.gif You know, let's have a couple of beers place. But I really started getting into it and now it has spiraled somewhat out of control. I am a little obsessed with it.
It started in just a corner of the room (first name "The Celtic Corner") but I have started to expand! I have been very sly about it and my wife really didn't notice my expansion...... at first.

Well we had a little gathering one afternoon for a grand opening and I brought people downstairs to have a beer and chuckle laugh.gif at my bar and to my astonishment they loved it. Oh yeah we had a ribbon cutting ceromony too. It was a big hit. And we didn't have just one beer down there. We stayed there all night long. Everyone was down gathered around the bar and having a great time. I guess people just love to hang out in a pub. thumbs_up.gif It's amazing what a 6 foot long piece of board can do.

I started with a little fridge and Guinness (my favorite beer!) signs, mirrors, and mugs. I have some Irish plaques with sayings on them like only the Irish can do. I have a few sport pictures too (Huge life long Red Sox fan so a couple of World Series pics)

Now onto the expansion part:

People started to say I needed a big screen tv (we got a great one upstairs) down there and suggested other things. I said for them to keep mentioning that to my wife. Get her on board and ...walla Big Screen TV. We got a little pub table with stool at the other end now too. Now this is not a real big room but I'm fitting things in.
Now I got the guys coming over for Monday Night Football every week and I may be doing a "Retro Party" soon. There WILL be a St. Patty's day event for sure!

Now here's where you and all your Celtic expertise comes in. smile.gif
This forum is the perfect place for advise!
What else do I need or should I include?? I want more Celtish items.

AND a new name. Name the Pub.
Or should I keep the old name "The Celtic Corner"??
cheers.gif

OK, throwing my 1.884746 cents in...

Every pub I have been in (Travels in England and Scotland, no Ireland yet...) have all had dart boards set up for some wicked games of cricket.

here are the official set-up rules (i seriously have too much extra time...)
http://www.district69darts.com/Setting_Up_..._Dartboard.html

Then there is the decor... You need Celtic knick-knacks and art... try these on for size...

http://shop.webomator.com/cgi-bin/cpshop_p...i?i=bordertiles (for maybe bordering the bar)

and for glasses...

for bar snacks...

misc. stuff....

OK, i suppose that's enough to be going on with. These are just some thoughts, not sure what direction you wanted to go. I have sites for Celtic Tapestries and more art if that is your interest...

however, as cool and retro as it is, I don't see a leather covered bar as part of a Celtic atmosphere. Smooth polished wood...

You can also check out some of the beer websites such as Guinness for some cool bar items and ideas. I've got a great poster of a snowman built on top of a head of Guinness in my kitchen.

Alberene Royal Mail should be able to fill most of your decor needs for a Celtic style bar.
