Celtic Radio Community > Polls > What Is Your Favorite Channel?

Posted by: CelticRadio 23-Jan-2021, 11:32 PM
Finally a new poll - I admit it has been a while. What is your favorite Celtic Radio channel and if you want to provide some valuable feed back why is it your favorite channel?

Perhaps there is something you don't like about a channel, the song selection or too many Celtic Radio plugs or anything else you might suggest to improve a channel such as new songs or artists for a particular channel.

We have an awesome Scots lady that is lending a hand on our Celtic moon broadcast and she will be helping us with some new promos for the other channels very soon.

Thank you!

I don't want to influence anyone else's vote so please don't read this until you have already voted...

The list below is my personal favorite to least fav:

1 A Celtic Christmas
2 Highlander Radio
3 Best of Celtic Radio
4 Celtic Moon
5 Celtic Dance Tavern
6 Salty Dog Radio
7 Celt Rock Radio

I realize my top pick is a seasonal one which is why I want to share that Highlander Radio is a very close second.

Thanks for everything you do to keep these going and available!

Great poll! Thanks for posting this one.

Celtic Moon is relaxing. Love the gentle sounds. Highlander Radio is a close second for me simply because of the variety.

I am pretty much a Trad addict. Love the old sounds and the traditional oriented groups like Lunasa, Danu, Teada, Socks in the Frying Pan, and a boatload of others. I also love Jim Malcolm and his sounds from Scotland.

Hope everyone is staying warm with all the snow! Take care and have a great day!

Celtic Moon
Highlander Radio

I don't understand why can't request Xmas songs on other stations during Xmas time.

Thanks for the great feedback! I have to agree that Celtic Christmas has a very nice sound and of course Celtic Moon is our most popular broadcast three times more than Highlander Radio.

We recently made some changes to the Highlander Radio playlist. While we have a huge library of songs and audio files (59,243), we noticed that a lot of the early songs were not rotating from the early days of 2004. So we examined the reason and found out why and made some fixes. So you might have notice some songs that you have not heard in a while or perhaps never. I really enjoyed an old track of "In the Shade of the Ol Apple Tree" by Donie Carroll.

Shadows - good observation. Next year we will be sure to enable Christmas requests. Our current "A Celtic Christmas" channel is not hosted on our servers so we are unable to perform live online requests on that channel.

I guess a follow up question to explore - with the advent of all of the new streaming services such as Spotify and Apple Music - is there still a place for Celtic Radio? Some of the Celtic music playlists on Spotify have alot of listening hours, but I noticed too they may not have the depth of the music we have since it spans such a long time.

No where else on the web or streaming services have I found the variety or depth of music found here, DON"T you dare do away with these channels! LOL not!

That is good to hear - I mean that is what we think too as you listen to Highlander Radio you can hear a lot of music that is just not available or perhaps is in a format that makes it difficult to listen continuously.

We will keep Celtic Radio running and we hope to have the new site up later this year which will compliment, but not replace CelticRadio.net.

Thanks Shadows!

I pretty much bounce between Highlander and the Celtic Rock deopening on my mood.

We've recently added some awesome new tracks to Celt-Rock-Radio. I have to admit that listening to Highlander Radio is probably my favorite and lately I am just like - where did that track come from? Have to get the name of the artist and see when they submitted their music sometimes it goes back a while.

I hope with the new website we can continue to be a place to go for some. I know spotify, apple music, amazon, etc. are huge now and we have to somehow carve a niche out.

About the new site - yes we still plan on it we have just had some health problems dealing with that has set us back but looking again on setting things straight and getting the plan together.

Celtic Moon is very good I have to admit. I have used it late at night when I can not sleep. Very soothing and lots nice effects. I put the ear pods on for that one.

I agree with the others, asking me to name my favorite Celtic Radio channel is almost as hard as asking me to name my favorite child.

I have enjoyed each of them at various times and in various moods.

If you ever plan to expand your channel selection, I would suggest considering a channel dedicated to sacred Celtic music. Perhaps one channel for Christian music and another for ancient Celtic/pagan worship.

That is a great idea and thank you for your kind comments!

We actually have a good inventory of Celtic/Pagan type music, so it would just be a matter of segmenting those tracks out and creating a theme to match. Not sure if this will be a doable soon as we have alot on our plate right now, but definitely a consideration to expand our channel lineup.

We do have a Celtic Christian music for a few hours every Sunday morning. There are just some tunes that are nice to hear once in a while from those days. Not sure if we have enough for a seperate channel though.

Excellent suggestions!

Highlander Radio is probably my favorite as it has the best variety of Celtic music.

Although I have to say I have listened to Celtic Moon with a pair of headphones at night on the App and it does help me get to sleep sometimes and also block out noise! biggrin.gif
