| Good news I just heard! For those of you who have read the Outlander series and am anxiously awaiting the new book about Jaime and Claire, titled A Breath of Snow and Ashes, I understand it will be released September 27! Too bad we have to wait so long, but it will be worth the wait I am sure. Just had to share! |

| Well I should have mentioned that that was according to Amazon.com. It has not been mentioned on her official website yet, so the date could change..........hopefully to sooner. I heard that someone was going to the Fergus Highland games in August, which is in Canada, I believe. And they said it was announced on the Fergus Highland site that DG would be signing her new book there. |

| I am so glad you enjoyed Outlander so much, Rindy! How is Dragonfly in Amber coming along? You will learn about Lord John Grey in the Outlander series. He is one of the characters in there. So Diana decided to write a book alone about him. So it is kind of a side book. I understand she has written two and working on a third about John Grey. |

| I went to DG's official site and didn't see a release date. I'm just glad the next book will be out soon. rindy don't rush through the books because you might miss something. I would suggest getting the Outlandish Companion. My 14 year old has read that book and she is really bugging me to let her read the series. I was going to then I didn't. She has already formed her opions on the characters. Of course jamie is at the top of the list, and she thinks Brianna is in some ways an airhead. She said if she was Brianna she would love the idea that her mother had gone to the past and met Jamie. She said she wouldn't have been angry at her mother and she would have said I'm going back and I'm outta of here. It funny of the girls in my family my youngest daughter, my sister and me love the idea of time travel and the imagined possibilities. Everyone else thinks we are crazy. Have fun reading everyone. I gotta go! |

| Gwenlee, that is so neat about your daughter! Thanks for sharing. I don't know if I ever mentioned this but I am part of the Arizona chapter of Ladies of Lallybroch. Herself (Diana Gabaldon) as she is often called for those who don't know, is supposed to be at our Highland Games the end of this month. We are still working on finding out for sure if she will indeed be there and if so, we are hoping she will go to lunch with us as she has done so in the past. Whether she can or cannot, we will at least be able to get books signed and ask Herself the real release date of her new book! But like I said, we are still working on finding out if she will be at the Highland games this year at all first. Will keep you all posted. |

| Yes, Rindy! I have had the pleasure of meeting Diana before. She lives an hour from me so that helps. I met her last year at the Highland Games and she signed a couple of my books. She is a very attractive lady, very well dressed and as nice and approachable as can be. What caught my eye was her gold Celtic wedding band she was wearing. Really beautiful. Funny, I was wearing my silver Celtic cross that a friend of mine from Ireland gave to me and she kept looking at it! LOL When she signs your books, she always personalizes them and puts some Gaelic saying in there too as an added touch. I recently heard an interview given by her that was on the internet. I will see if I can find that link for here. I found out that all this time I was pronouncing her name wrong! LOL It is pronounced GALbaldon as in gal for girl. |

| CelticRose do they have a chapter of the Ladies of Lallybroch in other places, such as the southeast? That sounds pretty interesting. I have to say reading her books was what got me interested in researching my own family. We know from oral history a lot of my family came to the colonies around 1750 after "the war" was the way some folk put it, and they had immigrated from Scotland. Anyway the books got me interested in that part of history and now I'm hooked. I've always been interested in history and she has done a great job of blending history with fiction. I've since read varies books and articles about history in Scotland and American Colonial history. I knew a lot of American history after 1800 but had not focused so much on history before 1800. I knew the basic history of pre-revolutionary war and post revolutionary war. And being the kind of person I am I just had to verify her historical accounts. I know for awhile after reading the Outlander series I found it hard to get into other books of fiction, because the characters didn't seem real. With all of this said I'm hoping she will put out a schedule and come to Georgia sometime. You are so lucky to have met DG. |

| Hi Gwenlee! I don't know if they do or not. I am sure they do cause people on the Ladies of Lallybroch site write from all over the world! You can go into the site and ask though. here is the link to the site. http://www.lallybroch.com/ I hear what you say, Gwen, in the fact that these books also got me to studying my ancestry and American history as well. I also became fascinated with Scottish history and culture and joined different sites to learn as much as I could. I am still weak on the American History, but learning as I am going along. I love history! Have you read Sara Donati's books? The Into The Wilderness series? They are very similar to DG's books and is more into American history than Diana's books. You might want to read them as I keep hearing just how wonderful they are. The books are: 1. Into The Wilderness 2. Dawn on the Distant Shore 3. Lake in the Clouds 4. Fire Along the Sky. For more Scottish history and an author who is pretty accurate and a good read are books by Barbara Erskine. Marsha Canham does a lot with the story of Culloden. BTW, I heard today that Diana is not quite finished with ABOSA yet. Someone from CompuServe posted the Amazon.com release date and Diana came on and said that the release date sounded about right as she still had some "holes" to fill in and some other writing to do in the book first and all that should be done in time for the release date. Youl live in GA? I lived there for 14 years in the Mableton area. All my family are from there and my ancestry starts in NC and then all relocated to GA. |

| Hi celticrose Thanks for the info. I'll check them out this weekend when I'm off. I haven't read Sara donati's books, but I will. Like I said I like a good historicl novel. BTW I know where Mabelton is. I live in the Rome GA area in the NorthWest GA mountains on 5 acres. I love this area it is rich with history, ie Civil War, and Native American. |

| Gwenlee! I know exactly where Rome, GA is. Been there many times. I used to be on the powwow circuit traveling with the Native American people showing my artwork at various Native American festivals and powwows. I think I did a powwow there once, even. It is beautiful country and I miss my family and friends from there. Haven't been back since I moved here to Arizona about 6 years ago. You'll like Sara Donati's books then. There is a bit of Scottish history as well as Native American culture in there too. There is even mention of wee Ian from the Outlander series in there. I have not read the books myself.......yet.........but I have them ready to read after I finish with the current set I am reading. |

| Hey CelticRose I've been to the pow-wows in Rome. They still have them there. I use to go to a lot of pow-wows but after having my 4th child and going back to school, I stopped going to them. I've recently started attending one here and there but not like I use to. I've been more involved with Scottish country Dancing and the Clan Donnachidh society. So my plate is full. The country here is so beautiful. My family is actually from Blueridge, and ellijay. I was an army brat and didn't come to GA to live until my dad retired. We lived in Alaska and Germany for awhile. I mainly grew up in Alaska. Since coming back from Germany in the mid 70's I've lived here in GA and for a while in Virginia. Enough of me I'm going to go and get one of Sara's Donati's book tonight after SCD class. Happy reading everyone |

Paula! So great to hear from you and have you back. Glad to hear that Fanny is doing so well. I am sorry to say that I lost my Teddy Bear dog this last year to congestive heart failure. It was pretty traumatic, but we quickly got a new Sheltie ........a girl this time by the name of Irish. She is a hoot and a real nutball too! She is loads of fun and gets along great with Niki. She is a beauty too! Look in the animal section and you will see pics of her.  |

| CelticRose--A far as beauty nothing compares to Alaska. I would live there if I could but I married a good ol southern boy and there is no way he would move to Alaska. So I told him we would have to move from the flatlands of GA to the Highlands of GA he agreed and here we are. The north GA mountains is a nice alternative to Alaska. |

| Thanks Paula! Irish is a special one to us now! She has made the loss of Teddy Bear a lot easier for us. She is wilder than a billie goat and smarter than a whip! She is one very cool dog! Maybe you need to resize your photos in your computer as maybe they are too large to upload on here. I use this site a lot http://www.resize2mail.com/ and size my pics to either 4x6 or 5x7. so far that has worked every time for loading pics on here. If not, load them to Photobucket and use the link to post here. |

| Anxious to hear how Rindy is enjoying Dragonfly in Amber. Curious how all of you got interested in Diana Gabaldon's books. How many times you have read the Outlander series. I love her style of writing as she has a way of making you feel you are right there and then there are the times where I am either laughing or crying. What do you all think? |

| Hi Rindy! Hope your Tai chi teacher likes it. A friend of mine told me that all her DG books were sitting on her coffee table and her father-in-law saw them and he being an avid reader himself started skimming through her books and asked if he could borrow them afterwards as he felt DG was a really good writer. I told her that I know a lot of men who have read her books! Anyway, I have to say that both Outlander and Voyager were my very favorites out of the whole series. I am anxious to discuss the books with you and anybody else who wants to discuss their favorite books in the series as well as their favorite scenes in them. I can't wait till ABOSA (the next book in the series) comes out in September. But then this is giving me a chance to read other books in my private library that I keep buying!  |

gwenlee, have you started on "Into the Wilderness" in the meantime? I'm rereading the series at the moment and am half the way through it. Personally I love it and I love Sara Donati's way of writing. But other than often said I do not think her style is very similar to Gabaldon's style or way of writing. To my mind she has a very own and unique style. However I dearly love the series and just got the 4th book of it "Fire along the Sky". Enjoy your reading! |

| I was introduced to Diana Gabaldon by a co-worker. I was talking about time travel and she said have I got a book for you. She told me a little about what the book was about and was going to bring me a copy. She kept forgetting so I went to Barnes and Nobles. I couldn't find the book at first so I asked the clerk if they had the book and she took me to it. The clerk had read the series and so excited talking about it. It took me about 8 weeks to read all the book. I took extra time with the Fiery Cross and at the end I felt like I was saying good by to friends. I have since bought the book in hard cover. I really enjoy Diana Gabaldons style of writing in fact it was hard for me to read other romance novel because as a whole the characters in other books seemed shallow and the books had no substance. I have started the book Into the Wilderness by Sara donati and I like it so far. Actually it is very good. That is one of my favorite times in American history. |

LOL Thanks for sharing how you got into the DG books. I find her writing style to be very unique in the way she makes you feel like you are there. How she goes into such detail and leaves you either laughing or crying during certain scenes. I am trying to get each book in hardback now and hopefully get her to sign them all for me. Hi Gabby! The Highland Games, and Scottish Country Dancing Demos will be starting soon here in the southeast. unfortunately when these start I won't get much reading done. So I'm hoping to get in some reading before April when the games begin. |

| Gwenlee, do you go to the Stone Mountain Highland games. I have a friend there who has been to that one a few times. She says it is really good. Do you dance at all at them? I finished "The Immortal Highlander" last night and it was sooooooooo good. I think it is the best of the series! I really enjoyed the story a lot. Now can't wait for her new book! LOL I got out my Into the Wilderness book and going to start on that tonight. wow! It is a big book! After reading DG's books, it has been nice to do some quick reads for awhile. |

| CelticRose I do go to the Stone Mountain Games. It is a nice game. It is held in the fall which is nice because GA can be so hot. This past year we had to turn on the heat in the camper because the temp. got down to the 30's at night. During the day the temp. was nice in the mid 60's. My son who is so hot natured said contrary to popular belief one freezes their buns off in a kilt. all of us had a good laugh, and we ladies said we know this very well. He was so thankful for his wool socks, at first he didn't want to wear them because he was so sure it was going to be too hot. And yes I do dance at the games. I started dancing last year with my youngest daughter she was 13 at the time and she was the one who got me started. It is a lot of fun. We have a social almost every month and through out the year we have workshops and demos. If your friend comes to the games this year tell her to stop by Clan Donnachaidh's tent and say hello. And if she would like to go to a nice one in the North GA mountains. Blairsville, GA is having a game June 11th. This is their second one and last years was so nice. I'll be there too (dancing and at the tent). I hope you are enjoying Into The Wilderness. I am really liking it. Someone I know has read all the series and she said she liked the second book even better. I read the Immortal Highlander and that was my favorite of the series. I like Adam Black and this was his story. Let me know how you like it. Of yeah if you remember would you ask Diana Gabaldon if she is planning a book tour when her new book comes out? The last time I looked on her site nothing was posted. |

| Hey Gwenlee! I will tell my friend from GA about the games in Blairsville. She is on this site btw. She goes by the name of Siobhan Blues. I know she has been to the Stone Mountain games. When I lived in GA, I had never been to any of the Highland games. I was too busy going to Native American powwows instead! That is really fascinating about your Highland dancing. Gee, I often wondered if those kilts itched at all, being they are made of wool, right? I am allergic to it I think........if there is such a thing. Must be a lot of fun. I would love to do that, but with my back I couldn't. Love to watch the Highland dancing though. I loved The Immortal Highlander and finished it a few nights ago at 2:30 am! LOL It was my very favorite of the whole series. I am enjoying so far, Into the Wilderness. I just started it last night. Kind of reminds me of a Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman and Joe Lando thing. LOL I have all the other books in the series too, except for the last one. I still need to get it. It is supposed to rain here in Arizona next weekend.........sheesh! It never rains in this state until the past few weeks and hopefully it will not during the Highland games next weekend. I will most certainly ask DG about her book tour, but I am most certain she will be doing one as she always has with every book from what I understand. She hasn't posted anything on her website lately because she is busy with the final details of the ABOSA book from what I am told. Chat with ye later! |

| Hey Celticrose I too was involved for years with Native American cultural events. For a while I was involved with the Cherokee Indians of GA in educational events and dancing. I've gotten interested in Celtic culture and events in the last few year. I've learned a lot. It was surprising to me that so much of the North GA Mountain Culture is so rooted in Celtic culture ( such as dance and music). I don't know how bad your back is but we have a lot of people with orthopedic and back problem you name it and someone in the group probably has it. Those with a problem walk in time to the music. As a whole we don't do the high steps of Highland Dance. Next time you go to a game or celtic event check and see if they have Scottish Country Dancing. Usually they have audience participation dances. My mom itches a lot with wool unless its lined and you can find lined kilts. I would definitely like to meet Siobhan Blues. My oldest daughters middle name is Siobhan. I hope it doesn't rain next week end. Lord knows we need rain but I always thought why can't it rain during the week. You know I think you are right about Into the Wilderness being like Dr. Quinn--Loved that TV series. |

| Funny, Gwen, how we were both involved in the same things........Native American and now Celtic. I find there are a lot of similarities, don't you? There are a lot of things I miss about GA, mostly my friend Siobhan Blues. She has read the Gabaldon series too. I emailed her and directed her to this thread to hopefully join us in the chat! She goes to the Stone Mountain Games. She is an artist and was my colored pencil instructor for years when I lived in Mableton. I was reading ITW last night and I am in Chapter 6, but I left at a good part where Nathaniel told Elizabeth he was building her school house and would become her friend .............as a start! Ooh! The boy wants that girl! I love it! I had to laugh cause my youngest sister who never would be caught dead reading a "romance novel" and reads only Sidney Sheldon and Nicholas Sparks books heard so much about the Highlander series books by KMM from me, she went out yesterday and bought them all! She called me and said well here I with all these books and don't know which one to start out with. I cracked up. I thought it to be so funny she would do this. I have been trying to get her to ready Gabaldon's books, but she would never get into it. maybe the Highlander series will be a good prep for her.  Thanks for the tips on the Highland dancing. I live an hour from anything around here, so it really wouldn't be convenient even if I did try. But I think it would be lots of fun. Being on my feet too long and any jarring would really be painful for my back anyway, but thanks! chat with you later! |

| Hi CelticRose I'm in chapter chapter 32 of Into the Wilderness. A friend of mine at work has laid claims to the book when I'm done. Most of us at work are avid readers and we enjoy passing a good book around. One of my friends said that I don't read a book, I inhale it. It is so neat that you and Siobhan blue are artist. I wish I had that talent, but the good lord chose to grace me with a decent singing voice and a very out going personality. My mom says I never meet a stranger. It is neat we have the same interest. Like the Pow Wows the Celtic festival are becoming very plentiful and some of the events clash so it is hard to go to all these events so I pick and choose. I'm sorry you have a bad back I know from other it can be quite uncomfortable but do try to watch SCD at the festivals or games, so many of the dances have a story to tell much like the Native American dances do. Hey, I've been to the Stone Mountain Highland Games a couple of times over the past 5 or 6 years - never been to the Blairsville games, though, might oughta check that one out. I don't know if my husband will take me back to any Games though because I get so happy at the sight of allllll those kilts... And dig this - my husband is of the Donnachaidh clan!! He is a Reid; it is his mother's maiden name. We spent a lot of time at that tent the first time we went to the games & he was so pleased to find out he has a real Scotland connection! Hi gwenlee! I am so happy you and Siobhan got to meet and hopefully you will meet at the booth one day at a Highland game! I am really enjoying Into the Wilderness a lot! I am only on chapter 10..........sheesh I wish the author had not made the chapters in Roman numerals! Anyway, I heard today that there will be five books altogether in that series! So there is another one coming out soon. This is the order in which they go, btw. 1. Into the Wilderness 2. Dawn on the Distant Shore 3. Lake in the Clouds 4. Fire Along the Sky It takes me awhile to get through a book, but I eventually get through them. LOL The more I read ITW, I realize that there are no similarities in Diana's and Sara's writing style though. I had always heard there was and at first I thought there might be, but further into the book I realize there really isn't. I think it is great you can sing! The Lord didn't bless me in that area at all! LOL I agree with you in that the Native American dances all have a story to tell. I didn't realize though that the Highland dancing does too. I do always try to watch the dancing when I am at a game. I try to taste a wee bit of Scottish food too! Do you wear any Celtic jewelry? I have tons of it and love it all! When I go to the games this weekend, I will probably buying me some more. I am also going to buy a hard back of the Outlander book and get Diana to sign it for me. I hope to eventually have all my hardback books of hers signed! How silly, eh? yeah, wondering where Rindy is at in the Outlander series by now too! |

| I agree with you celticrose, the styles are different. The one thing that is alike is the length of the book. But I like the book. I didn't go into it looking for another Outlander series ( as if there could be another) I do wear celtic jewelry. In fact I've ordered a ring from kelticnation. Can't wait to see it. I also have a fair amount of Native American earrings. A friend of my dads is Native American and when his daughter passed away he gave me a bunch of earings that she had made. I thought at an up coming event in Tunnel Hill GA I will mix my Native American jewelry with my kilt and celtic jewelry. I don't get a chance to wear jewelry often because I'm a high risk pregnancy nurse/labor and delivery and I'm in gloves a lot. I have 3 of the Outlander series in hard back and I'm working on getting the others in hard back. |

I worked at both West Paces Ferry Hospital and Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta for several years. Then went to work at the Atlanta Allergy clinic for 9 years. I was a medical transcriptionist for 20 years. Always worked in the medical field my whole working life of about 30 years doing something. We have a lot in common. You have 3 of the Outlander books in hardback? I only have two. TFC and the Outlandish Companion. |

Rose, actually I read many books in English; even buy my favorite ones I had read in German before in English also to read the originals. You know, they always lose a bit in translation. It's been years ago that I bought my first book of Moning's series, so I kept buying them in German later. This is why I now have to learn to be patient...which is not my strongest point...  |

West paces is closed now, and Crawford Long keeps on growing. I do enjoy my work. Its very fulfilling. You are right we do have a lot in common Hello Gabby I know where Frankfurt and Cologne is. West Paces Ferry shut down? Wow! That is sad news. Crawford Long is still growing, eh? I worked in pathology when I worked there. I remember Kennestone Hospital very well. My internal med doctor, Thomas Caras, was close to there. He was a wonderful doctor. I wonder if he is still in practice, do you know? Did you know Dr. Christmas, OBGYN? I went to church with him and then his son committed suicide and he left the practice. I wonder what he is up to these days? He was the nicest guy and it was so sad what happened to him and his family. They took it very hard, understandably. We went to Dr. Charles Stanley's church when we lived in Atlanta. We still watch him on TV every weekend. Where do you go? My Outlandish Companion is signed by Diana. I am going to take TFC this weekend and buy the hardback Outlander to have her sign both of them. I got to the place in Into The Wilderness where Nathaniel and Elizabeth are planning to wed and elope! wow! How wonderful! But first she has to court that Dr. Todd. She is a very smart gal and witty too! I just love both she and Nathaniel! |

| CelticRose--I never met Dr Christmas but I had heard about him. I go to Congregation Beth Hallel in Roswell, GA a messianic congregation (Jewish and non-Jewish believers--Christian). I know who Dr Charles Stanley is and I enjoy listening to him on the radio. I'm in chapter 33. I haven't been able to read much I had to work the past 2 nights, and I helped put out a news letter for Clan Donnachaidh, plus I have a Scottish Country Dancing event to plan for. I need to make myself a plain color skirt for the event, can't wear the kilt that night, only the guys. We ladies are to wear a skirt, white blouse and our sashes. Oh well--after tonight I'm off for 5 days maybe I'll get some of the things I want done, done. I saw on the news you may get some rain this weekend--I hope you don't get any. Let us know how the event goes. |

I've never been to Blairsville but once had an acquaintance that lived there; Dennis and Stanna Pruitt, her son Jordan was my sons best friend in middle school... but I think they divorced, not sure what happened to them then. Jordan came by our home one day unexpectedly as he was heading to Florida to start college, and we haven't seen him since. You know, actually I think my husband and I joined the Donnachaidh clan group for several years but we let the membership lapse eventually. They had the nicest newsletters. I know we did get some information about the clan, and on another discussion board I met a sweet woman who sent me photos of the kirk at Struan where the clan is based; she went to a wedding there and knowing of my connection to the clan took some wonderful photos just for us! If I can track down the photos I'll post them here. Small world, isn't it, that you and I have the Donnachaid connection! Cool. SB |

| Hi Rindy I've never had them before. I've been put on a bunch of medication. I try not to take any strong medication but yesterday I waited too long between my motrin dose and I had to take the stronger stuff. I have a lot of people praying for me and I do believe in the power of prayer. How far are you in DIA? I connected with Claire with her pregnancy. I was like her with the nausea and vomiting everything made me so sick and when Jamie made the comment to her in the garden about it I remember my own husband making a similar comment. I won't say any more because I don't know where you are at in the book and I don't want to spoil it for you. Have a good weekend. |

| Hi there ladies! Oh my! gwenlee! The shingles?!  Poor you! My mother had those about a year ago. They were awful and I just could not imagine. I hear they are pretty painful and itch. How long do they usually last? You must be going crazy! Rindy, the second chapter!  Get off that other forum dear and start reading...........yeah right, eh? well have to tell you that I went to the Highland games today and met Diana again and had lunch with her too! There were several of us Ladies form Lallybroch wearing our T-shirts to have lunch with her and Herself sat next to lil ole meeeeeeeeeee! I was just delighted and got to ask her a lot of questions. I bought a hardcover Outlander and her sign both it and my hardcover Fiery Cross. That is four now I have signed by her. Plus hubby took a photo of she and I at the restaurant. so will show you that here. Her plans are this: To have ABOSA finished by Easter and ready to be published and for sale by September. She will have at least 1 or 2 other books to add to the Outlander series, one on Jamie's parents, two more on Lord John Grey. MAYBE one on Master Raymond. After she finishes the whole series she is coming out with an Outlandish Companion Vol 2. I was really excited to hear about that! I told her I had heard that she was planning to end the series when Jamie was in his 80s, but she just had a question look on her face and never answered. She is also in talks with some film folks about the makings of the Outlander movie. Sadly, she doesn't get to pick the actors......I was hoping for Gerald Butler as Jamie! After she finishes ABOSA, she is going to be touring Uk and this is for you Gabby.........Germany! so maybe you can meet her too! Diana said that her touring the Highland games is going to be narrowed down to only the Fergus games in Canada and the one in Phoenix that I went to today cause she lives so close to it. She said she really needs to write! That is about all I can think of right now. gwenlee, I saw your clan booth today. I thought of you. | Hey CelticRose It sounds like you had a great time with DG. If I could be so lucky. To say the least the shingles are awful. The medicine either makes me nauseated or makes me sleepy. The doctor says the outbreak can last for a couple of weeks and the pain for several months. So hopefully they will be gone before the hot weather gets here. I wish I could remember where I read about the time period that the Outlander series would end. I was sure it was an interview with DG. My problem is I read so much that I sometimes forget where I got the info. My friends at work tease me and tell people to ask me about things because I probably have read something about it some where. Did it rain on you guys yesterday? I hope it didn't. I didn't know Karen Moning was coming out with another book. Sounds like we have some good read comming up for the fall. |

| Merewyn I had the same emotions while reading her book. When I read Outlander there were times I had to put the book down because it was so intense. I loaned Lord John Grey Private Matter to a friend who has never been interested in reading any of DG's books. Well she has now informed me that she loves DG style and may have to borrow my Outlander Series. CelticRose I hope you are doing well. I am on chapter 48 of Into The Wilderness. I'm feeling somewhat better and started back to work. You are right shingles can be caused by stress. But I can't think of any stress I'm under right now, except I've spent the last 3 months working overtime every week. So I guess my body is telling me to slow down. |

Robbie Maclachlan does act like an older Jamie, doesn't he? I really like his character. Richard Todd is a real slime ball though. I am at the part where they are all in Canada right now healing from all their injuries. I was so glad that the red dog was fine. I was really upset when Lingo had shot him. Merewyn, that is saying a lot if you think that DG is above Anne Rice. DG told us at lunch last weekend that she was good friends with her. Are you all involved in the Ladies of Lallybroch site? It is really good too. However, I would suggest you finish all the books first. |

She had never been to Scotland when she wrote that book, had never even written a book and it was all for fun. But somebody talked her into getting it published and it is her best seller and in my opinion, her best book! I could read that book over and over as well. | Hello ladies, I love Outlander!!! I can't put it down, it's such a page turner!!! Last night when my boyfriend was taking me home I told him about the book and thought it'd be a good read for him as well with all the history in it!! So after I'm done with it he's going to read it!! Right now I'm finishing up Chapter 3 where Claire is still confused about where she is and trying to figure it out. She is still thinking that she's in a movie and was just dropped into a bush from Jaime and figures that Cocknammon rock is behind her but wonders where the lights of Inverness are. She reaches the road and hears the battle of pursuit fade behind her and tries to figure out the day's events. Well back to the book!! Just taking about it makes me want to read more!!! So I will let you guys know more when I come back on next!!! Happy reading all!! |

| Hello everyone, I just reached Part Two : Castle Leoch. I am very interested in finding out what's happens to Claire at the Castle Leoch and what the Colum Mackenzie is going to do with Claire. | Rňs, how can anyone NOT fall in love with Jaime while Claire is setting his shoulder? And you just fall deeper and deeper every scene he is in!!! I would dare anyone to read these books and NOT fall in love with him!! I don't believe it is possible!! I finished Outlander the other day and am halfway through the Outlandish Companion (I had to find out the major plot points of the other books before I read them!!) I am about to start the next book in line...I hope. They are due back at the library on monday...so I guess I will have to read fast!!! Maybe I just oughta buy them!! Would make the late fees alot less!! All I can say is....were are those stones? |

This morning I just finished reading Chapter 13 "A Marriage Is Announced" and all I have to say OH MY GOODNESS!!!  I can't believe that Claire is getting married!!! I just finished reading that chapter before I left for work and now that I'm home I'm going to read chapter 14 just to find out what happens before I go to bed!!! I can't believe everything that's happening with Claire and Jaime. It just keeps getting better and better!!! |

| Hey never posted on this site before, just registered two days ago. Had to add I LOVE Diana Gabaldons' books, they are wonderful, full of everything you could possibly be interested in. Love Jamie and Claire. Breanna and Roger? I love them too, but not as much. However, everytime I put one of her books down and it's over I feel like I'm missing friends, which is extremely rare to find from any book. I think I've read them over 3 times each, which is a feat when Outlander was the first book I'd ever read that was that large, but I enjoyed every page. Can't wait til her new one comes out. I know those books are mine, my mom, my moms' best friend, my aunt and my uncles favorite. Where else are you going to find that much adventure where you actually care about what happens to the characters to that degree? Amy PS Have also read Sarah Donati's books. I thought they were good also. My personal preference in general as far as books go are fantasy and most anything having to do with celtic history. PSS I also read Dianas' book about Lord John Grey, it was extremely funny. I didn't realize they were two. |

They are the kind of books that you want to read over and over and the characters become people you care about and are friends for life. However, I am not too fond of Brianna and Roger. I mean they are ok, but I hate it when they become scene stealers. I want my Jamie and Claire back and so relieved when they do so. I read one of the Lord John Grey's books. It was ok. I wasn't particularly fond of it for some reason. Just didn't hold my interest and he was never one of my favorite characters in the series. But I will probably get the second LJG book just to have and read it as well. Right now I am reading #4 book of Sara Donati's, Fire Along the Sky. Then I gotta wait till next spring before the next book comes out in that series. Very nice to meet you and hope to see you in all the other forums too! |

| Welcome to the forum Repunzel!! Sadly I have yet to read anything by Sara Donati. That will perhaps be my next series!! I also haven't read LJG....yet!! Before reading the Outlander Series I read Shannon Drake's books. I agree with you Rňs, it's very advisable to read the Outlandish Companion while reading the series! I would highly recommend it as well! As for Brianna and Roger....well....I haven't gotten that far yet!! I have only read the synopsis in the Companion and haven't actually read the full book yet. I'll let ya know when I do! After finding out that she ends up back in her own time to raise her child without Jamie almost made me cry!!! And that was only read in the Companion. I haven't experienced the 'real thing' from the actual book yet! |

| Hello ladies, I'm now at Chapter 21 in Outlander and it just keeps better and better!!! I have to say that I've fallen for Jaime!! Like Celtic Rose said he is the ultimate man. It's too bad their aren't that many men nowadys like him!!! I was really shocked to find out that Claire and Jaime got married but it just seems right!!! I'm now at the part where Claire was just rescued by Corporal Hawkins from her near drowning. It'll be interesting to see what happens to her now!!! |

| Thanks for making me feel welcome, would have been back sooner, but had pneumonia this past week. I am now on the mend thank goodness. Anyway, I'm happy I've finally met (sort of) some people that KNOW what I'm talking about when I mention those books. Ya know how so many books you read and then you couldn't remember anything about them later... Each time I read these yeah their are some surprises and things I didn't remember, but the bulk of it I can. I love how the accents are written too, it helps so I know how they are supposed to sound. I think Voyager was my favorite book out of those. The Outlander one, their is one word she uses an awful lot that sometimes drives me nuts. Her books I can tell are better written the further along she gets, but I think I'm still more in love with the first ones. Although... her others are even better than almost any other book I've read, maybe it's just cause I'm not too crazy about Bree and Roger? Throughout most of their time in them I think man these people are stupid and pigheaded, but I guess if we were honest their are more like them than Jamie and Claire. Too bad... wish we all had a man like Jamie, but I haven't met any that come anywhere close. Amy |

| I'm back! Had a wonderful time in Oregon. Y'all must go there some time. It is great to hear where everyone is in the books. I am so excited about the new one coming out. I heard that it is literally finished and off to the publisher now. So we should have it by this fall sometime. An interesting thing happened to me when I came back from vacation. I belong to an Arizona Outlander group online and we meet each other every year at the Highland games and because Diana lives (an hour from me), we have the pleasure of meeting with and having lunch with her every year. Well I found out she is going to be attending the Flagstaff, AZ games next month to do a reading from her new book. My hubby aka DH for dear husband does not want to go. It is a three hour drive from where I live and I don't want to go alone. So before I left, I contacted my AZ Outlander group and asked if anybody wanted to go with me. Well one of the gals that I have never met from that group contacted me and said her DH didn't want to go either. so she and I are going to spend the whole weekend up there and share a motel. The funny thing is I found out that this gal actually works for Diana and her husband! So this should be a very interesting trip! Just had to share! |

Well everyone, I just finished Outlander!!!  I just couldn't wait to finish the book and I kind of knew it wouldn't take me that much time to finish it! Now I have to wait a couple of days until I can get Dragonfly in Amber. So hopefully I'll be starting that this weekend!! Now that I'm done with Outlander I'm going to be passing it onto my cousin to read!!! I can't wait to read Dragon Fly in Amber to see if Claire and Jaime are finally going to have the child that they've been waiting to have and where they are going to go after the abbey!! |

| Hey gwenlee! Congrats on your 200th post. The last time I saw Diana she told us that if she does not finish everything concerning the Revolutionary War in this new book, then she will write another to continue. If she does, I believe she said she would be writing a prequel about Jamie's parents and their love story. So we will get to know Dougal and Column better in those books as well. When she finishes the whole series, she is going to come out with another Outlandish Companion. Just to let you in on a secret. Expect this new book to be BIG in size! gwen, I had a hard time getting through Lake in the Clouds too. I got so tired of reading about Hannah that it took me some time to get through it. I am enjoying the fourth book though. But the first book was the best. I have been kind of disappointed with this series as it has gone on when everybody told me the whole series would be so great. Oh well, to each his own. |

| Hey Moonchild! Sorry I am so long in writing. It has been a very crazy week for me and I am so behind in all my posting and such. Had a great time at the Celtic festival and saw and talked with Diana and took a couple pics of her. Also heard her do her reading from the new book but to be honest I could not make heads or tails as to what was going on. She just took a very benign scene out of the book and so we know nothing in advance of what direction the book is going. She was pretty busy with book signing so I didn't get to chat with her too much. I had asked her how many times she had been to Scotland and she said "about 6 or 7 times." Cool, eh? We didn't get to go to dinner with her as she had family come in from out of state and she had to drive back down the mountain that evening. Hopefully I will see her again next February and have lunch with her then. I had a fabulous time with my online friends I had met for the first time. One of them being Diana's assistant. We had a blast together! Where are you in the books right now? Oh, here is a photo I took of Herself this past weekend. Gracious as always. |

| You all get ready for the new book in the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon coming out in late September. I have it on good authority and given permission to share this much with you. It is going to be: 980 pages 12 sections 124 chapters and weigh 3 lbs! Bigger than The Fiery Cross! :shock: I know two people who have read the manuscript and said it is VERRA VERRA good. And we're going to learn some things that have yet to be revealed. :wink: |

| A week from tomorrow and ABOSAA comes out! Yippee! Rindy, I have seen the movie "A River Runs Through It" several times, but never even knew about the book until I saw it at the book store the other day. There are a bunch of books I want to buy right now, but I have too many on my TBR list here at home now as it is. I heard something disturbing about the ABOSAA book today that I am hoping is not true, so I may end up reading that book before I had planned. |

She had quite a following in Germany and I believe the book was #1 seller there in the first week. The photos of her trip to Germany are beautiful. I also saw on the website that DG is going to be an hour south of me in October, so depending on the time of day I may drive down there and get my new book signed! Yippee! | Weel...I can say that I have just finished reading my copy of ABOSAA and it certainly was worth the wait! I will give nothing away but that Herself is at peak when writing this latest novel. There is some good, some bad, some surprises and some tears but this is true of the whole series eh? Best of the 'page turning' to everyone...now I have to go back through it slower so absorb...and catch all the little things you don't see at first! Take care DG fans!! | I am embarrassed to say that I have not read ABOSAA yet. Well that is not entirely true. I read the last two chapters! Yep! You read right. Naughty me had to see if Jamie and Claire dies and I couldn't wait. So since I found out the answer, I have other books in line to be read first and I figure it will take Diana probably two years to write the next one, so I have time! I heard that this new book was #1 on the Best Seller's list for the New York Times though! Best seller for Germany and the states! How great is that? The prolblem is is that I have all these American history books I have to read too and that is slowing me down. But wow! I will be so excited when I get my hands on ABOSAAA and start reading the actual book, eh? Hey! I heard that SB and you met at the Highland games! | CR-I read the last few chapters to all the books I read. The problem with DG books is you are left hanging and lord knows where she will be going in the next book. Yes I did meet SB and she is so nice. I think the three of us have a lot in common except I can't draw a stick man. And you two are artist but there is so much more similarities. SB saw me at the dance stage and she called my name. Our hair is similar in color. She has a very nice husband and daughter. SB was very easy to talk to. She didn't feel like a stranger. I hope she and I can get together and have lunch and talk when there isn't so much going on. You two have fun and I'll get a picture to you of SB and me. TTFN Gwenlee |

I have finished the book already and as so many of us still have to read or finish it I won't say much at all...except of that it's a wild ride indeed. Many explanations and quite a few surprises are waiting for the impatient reader. I always said that it's the first book of the series I love most and I still do...but ABOSAA is a very close follower; enjoyed it immensly!!! So you couldn't wait and read the last two chapters, eh? Bad bad girl! ...But then I have to admit that I was VERY tempted to do the same while I was reading this book. I could resist finally but it almost killed me! |

That's exactly what I keep hearing too! That people love Outlander first and now ABOSAA second. I have only spoken to one person who did not like ABOSAA at all! I usually refrain from reading the end of the book first, with the exception of this one. Although been tempted many times! However, when I first started reading Dragonfly in Amber and it started out 20 years later, I was so upset that I skimmed through the book to see if Jamie and Claire were back together at any time. If not, I wasn't going to bother reading it! |

| For those who don't know A Breath of Snow and Ashes by Diana Gabaldon did come out on September 27th. My mom got this book FINALLY as a birthday gift, she was so excited as soon as she finished she thrust the book into my hands, literally and told me to hurry up cause she wanted to talk about it, haha. Hurry up... it's as HUGE of a book as her other Outlander ones. Their were quite a few surprises in this book. She did say this one was the last, but I'm sure like she did with Lord John, she could venture into another character. Even her minor ones have more about them than even some major character in other books. Well good luck and happy reading, it was a GREAT book. | Hey Amy! Nice to have you here amongst us! If I may be so bold to say that ABOSAA is NOT the last book in the series! There will be at least one or two more. Now how much Jamie and Claire will play a role in those books, I have no idea. I suspect they have to die sometime...boo hooo. When Diana finishes the series, she will do a prequel of Jamie's parents..after that another Outlandish Companion. I am just hoping that Gabaldon doesn't stop there. I hope there will be many more to come. Am I asking too much? Probably! |

| i first found diana by mistake i saw fc (fifth book) and read it and relized that there were other before it. well of course i had to read those and put it all together and i must say for a writer i've never heard of before i fell in love with her writing and with the people in the story. i now have all six books and like others have said i can't wait to see more. |

| Great! Gwenlee! I am so happy to hear you finished the book! First I started off with the last two chapters..ahem...then I read the first six chapters and put it down to read another book! I know, it sounds crazy, but some friends of mine decided to do a re-read of it after the first of the year. So I decided to wait till then. So this week I am going to do a serious re-read of ABOSSA from the beginning again! Will let you know eventually how I feel about it! Gonna be doing some in depth discussing of it with some friends of mine while we read it together, so may take awhile. I will see Diana the end of February so will ask her when the next book is out, but I doubt I get a definitive answer! |

| I'm sure that I will be reading the book again this summer. I was very bad. I read the end of the book first and then went back to the beginning. But I tend to do that with every book I read. I can't discuss how I feel about some things because there are those that haven't read the book and I don't want to spoil it for them. So maybe later on this year when more have read ABOSA we can talk about where the characters are going. |

| just to update all yes i have read the sixth book in fact i own all six and am working on getting two more. i love to read if i had to be honest reading would be my first love (go Galadriel would kill me if she saw this) since i was little i've read anything i could get my hands on. in a way i thinks its helped shape me into the person i am and in a good way i have a much wider view of the world then many people i've met. growing us in school i was always at least three or even at times fours reading grades ahead of my classmates and that was very hard having to read what i thought was a childs book when i was so far ahead. since i have a somewhat of a creative mind i fell in love with science fiction and living in a small city the libaray only has so many books to choose from. i found DG like i said only becuase the FC just came out and i always check the new books first just in case and wondered why the story seemed out of wack well it's becuase i missed the first four. so i read them all and re-read them again and again until i finally bought them all. when the sixth one came out i only caught it by chance at the mall i as just looking around and happened to see DG name and i grabed it and didn't care what the price was going to be i had to have it and see what happened. again i loved the story and now i'm hoping there is going to be another. has anyone heard if there is going to be a seventh? she left the story with a question in my mind saying what happens do roger and bree try to take the kids back to be with claire and jamie or what??? i hate being left hanging it drives me crazy!!! on a side note as i said i love to read and i have started to write my own science fiction book. its not very good becuase i have a low vocabulary. yes its true i have always had a hard time in english (even though i can speak it) and i noticed as i wrote it seemed to childish so i've been at a writers block for the past two years and just can't seem to get going again. what i would give to have a chance to meet DG and perhaps get some thoughts from her and advice. ahhh the road not taken... oh well such is life. good luck to all who are reading and let me know what if any of you want to know more about my writing please let me know. |

| Hey all! Can't believe it has been this long since I have written in here. I had the pleasure of seeing and talking with Diana Gabaldon about three weeks ago at our local Highland games. She did a reading from her newest book she is currently writing. I honestly did not hear it as I was in my own camp with the 1745 Jacobites. My friends told me that she now has the ending written about Jamie and Claire and it is locked up in a certain place. So she at least knows now how the series will end. Whether she will have one or two more books after A Breath of Snow and Ashes, she is not sure. In the meantime, many of us from the Ladies of Lallybroch ordered "Claire" rings. This is the wedding ring that Jamie supposedly had made for Claire with Thistle and celtic love knot. I just ordered mine and plan to wear it like Claire...on the right hand, ring finger. Should get it in about 4-8 weeks! Can hardly wait! Has anybody else ordered this ring for themselves? |

She is currently working on it, but her main priority right now is getting the new Lord John Grey book finished, published and out. She is also working on a murdery mystery of sorts that will be set in Phoenix. And yes, she does live in Arizona, Scottsdale to be exact. Also, for Sara Donati fans, I've just finished Queen of Swords, the fifth one, and I liked it. Most of it takes place in New Orleans, before and during the battle for that city. I thought Dragonfly, Outlander and Voyager were wonderful stories very well told. For some reason, Drums of Autumn just lost me. I still haven't finished it, but plan to try again in the future. We have the entire series and maybe when I try to pick it up again, I'll go back to the beginning. There is no question that Diana Gabaldon is a terrific writer. I hope you don't mind a guys comments, but I believe in reading good books. I don't much care whether you call them romance, mystery, suspence or anything else. A good book deserves to be read! |

Thanks for taking the time to look and glad you enjoyed! We did have a wonderful time, but the other patrons having dinner seemed a wee bit annoyed. oh well. I had to crop one of the photos cause one of the restaurant patrons insisted on being in our photos and making faces and gestures. Really annoyed me!  even after I had explained to her and her family what was going on. Oh well. Can't please everyone, eh? I wish we had had our own room, but it wasn't possible in the restaurant we were in . Really excellent food though! |

| Hey gcw57! Did you happen to see some men in the photos? Yep! They have all read the books too! Glad you enjoyed the photos. Someone asked me about further information regarding the stone presented to Diana. They wanted to know what it was made of and where it was from. I had the mistaken idea they came from Scotland, but apparently I was very wrong. Here is the info from our fearless leader of the AZ Chapter of Ladies of Lallybroch who tonight gave me this info concerning the stone presented to Diana. I will put her response in quotes. "It's made of granite and I have no idea where the granite came from. The original (DG's was a duplicate) will be placed in the walkway at the Culloden Visitor Center after the restorations are finished." Hope that helps clear up some things. |

| Thanks for the update CelticRose, That's pretty cool that the original stone will be placed at the Culloden Visitor Center. As terrible a place as that was in history, it's one of the things that I'd most like to visit if I ever get the opportunity to see Scotland. While I'm no expert on anything, the culture & history of places always interests me and I am a museum visitor as well. I like to return home from trips somewhat smarter than when I left. I did see the men in the pictures! I was just elected publicity person for our Highland Games coming up in June so between that, our medieval dinner and Robbie Burns Night I get the pleasure of hearing the pipe & drum corps several times a year. I much prefer them outside rather than in. My nephew kilted up for his wedding last year as did his Dad and a single piper leading them down to the lakeside. Most impressive! I don't know how long it will take Mom to read the latest book, but I think it's time I tried to get back into the series. Happy days! |

It is called "The Poisioned Pen" and is located in Scottsdale, AZ. If you want a specific book and it to be signed, then here is the link to do so. I wish I could remember which novel he was first introduced. But since then, the author, has chosen to write a series about him...I believe about three. So, no, you are not being foolish. It is very hard to keep up with the books, let alone the side novels Gabaldon writes. If you hear anything new or different, let us know! |

Your going to love this, if you don't already know. Diana is releasing the latest Lord John book this month, “Lord John and the Brotherhood of the Blade.” As all you Galbaldon fan’s are aware, Diana’s latest book in the “Outlander” series is book 6, “A Breath of Snow and Ashes”. Well I have some even more special news to share! Last week, some friends of mine went to Ontario, Canada to attend the Fergus Highland Games. Diana Gabaldon was there doing a book signing and spoke before an audience her future plans regarding the Outlander series. I copied excerpts from what a friend wrote regarding that talk from Diana. Here goes and hope you enjoy! “Diana mentioned that she has written the beginning and the end of Book 7. And guess what? There will be a book 8! Yay!!!!!!!! Many of us were lucky enough to get an advanced copy of Lord John and the Brotherhood of the Blade in which Jamie plays quite a large role. Someone asked if we'll hear more from Frank and Diana said yes and that he may even get his own book somewhere down the line. The most popular question seems to be about getting a movie made. I've heard this over the years and Diana's response but this time around she said that they were in "serious" discussions with a very well known production company that has made some very well received movies. She couldn't mention who they were because they're still ironing out the details but she will, of course, let us know on her website if anything comes to fruition. She said that this looks quite promising!! Someone asked if the production company was from the UK and she said no. Something else I found very interesting was her answer to what her most favourite and least favourite book was in the series. She said that her favourite book is always the one she's just written and so at this point Brotherhood of the Blade is her favourite. Her least favourite, although not that she doesn't like the book but it's the one that she's least satisfied with, is The Fiery Cross. The reason being that she did not have the opportunity to edit the book as she usually does. That is exactly what I have been doing for the last month, rereading the books. I know that the new one in the outlander series won't be here for awhile, but with the new lord john series coming out, I want to remember all he was about. | "Spoiler" for those who haven't read all the books. RE: Mastor Raymond Did you all see this on DG's website regarding this character? There has been a rumor he may even get his own book as well! Below is what is written on Galbaldon's website. From Herself "Who/what is Master Raymond? What is his significance? (SPOILER) Who he is, is a prehistoric time traveler. I think he came from somewhere about 400 BC or perhaps a bit earlier (not technically "prehistoric," but they certainly weren't using written records where he started out), and the 18th century is not his first stop. He is--or was--a shaman, born with the ability to heal through empathy. He sees auras plainly; those with his power all have the blue light he has--born warriors, on the other hand, are red (so yes, "the red man" is iconic {grin}). He has a rather strong aversion to Vikings, owing to events that happened in his own time; hence his nervousness when he sees Jamie. He's afraid of them, but he also realizes just what a strong life-force they have--that's why he makes Claire invoke it (using the sexual and emotional link between her and Jamie) to heal her. His descendants--a few of whom he meets now and then in his travels- have the blue light about them, too; in large degree or small, depending on their talents. So he knows Claire, when he sees her, as one of his great-great, etc. grand-daughters. | Well, to tell the truth, this was not the first time I have met Diana. In the early days of her writing, and before she had to worry about security, she and my in-laws lived on the same block. So when my wife and I would go down to visit we would meet her all the time. Walking dogs, washing the car, stuff like that. There also used to be neighborhood cook-outs and Diana and her husband would sometimes come. Now, when ever she is due to come to town we make a point to attend. It's nice to get personalized autographs on your books as my wife has. Me, I'm sorry to say have only read Outlander and have little interest in the rest of her writings. Wrong hormones. So I attend kilted and pose for photos. |

I mean I am on Chapter 35 or something like that but I keep getting interrupted and can't seem to devote the time I need to finish it. Diana is coming out with another book in the series. | Welcome Wombat! I have read all the "Outlander" series except for the latest, "A Breath of Snow and Ashes." I am still working on that one. I have read the first book of the "Lord John" series. IMHO, it was ok. Nothing like the Outlander series, but Lord John is just not one of my favorite characters. I have heard that the second book in this series is much better. I am sure I will be reading it, but I really need to finish the latest in the Outlander series first! I have been to Dahlonega many times as I used to live in GA. I had no idea Diana was there! That must have been exciting! Glad you got an autographed book, too! I am part of the Arizona Ladies of Lallybroch group. GA has a chapter as well, did you know that? Every year we try to have at least one dinner with "Herself" but not sure if it is going to happen this year or not....boo hoo. |

| I 'm almost finished with the first book-love it from the start especially the way Jamie's sister "handles" her brothers temper. Laughed me arse off. Am I rigt in saying that this is a Scottish version of Morgan Llywelyn's 19-- books that follow the family history? They have some early sketches from the graphic novel up on the website. Haven't found the picture of Claire yet but I think the rough sketch of Jamie is dead on. The good news is I've noticed that once a graphic novel is done then the next step is usually a movie although this would be better as TV mini series. It would have to be on one of the channels that would or could show that amount of violence-Cinemax maybe-no that would be the other kind of stuff you can't show on regular TV. Maybe UPN-are they still around? I would also recommend Frank Delaney's "Ireland." Series of short stories woven together by a boy's quest to find the storyteller himself. It's in paperback. And he has a new one out called Kilkenny which may be related thus making the books into a series but I'm not sure because I haven't read it yet. |

| I'm so gald to find others who love the OUTLANDER series. I'm going nuts waiting on the new one she has coming out " An Echo in the Bone ". I have read all of them at least two times just too keep everything fresh in my mind. Too tell how my love for these books started, my daughter called one day wanted to know what I was doing. My answer to her was I'm bored and really needed to find something to do. She knows that I really don't read alot of books but she said she had two that I might like to at least look at.I love history any kind but to set down and read a book that had so pages well,the two just weren't enough I had to have more ,went to our book store and order the next two before long I had read all of them.One of the girls who worked there asked me what they were all about ,got her hooked. After awhile I started wondering about my father's family history as his grandfather came here from England, Dad always said we were English Scottish and Irish, so I must know. So loaded with very infomation I'm searching. I do belive he'd be very pleased that I'm doing this. When reading the parts that or set in Scotland I feel very at home there, I can see and feel the castles,smell the fields,hear the shouts war I 'm right there and happy |

| If you look for the Patrick Troughton (2nd Doctor) DVD's you should be able to find some of the episodes-some were lost over the years but Jamie was in quite a few episodes. | Thank ye, Robert for lookin' into this for me Aye, I know, I have seen the U-Tubes from the fans votin' for Gerard...personally I would pick David Wenham (Faramir - LOTR - The Two Towers/Return of the King) as Jamie's Character, what do ye think? | Thanks for the Dr. Who tie-in info. I'm a Who-vian from way back during the Peter Davison years. It's nice to see that Diana Gabaldon is also apparently a fan. I'm nearly finished with Dragonfly in Amber on my second time through the series. |

| I'm not sure who I would have play Claire. What is her age suppose to be in the first book? Off the top of my head and after looking at the painting on DG's site I would probably go with, and I hesitaite on this choice, Nichole Kidman or Marina Siirtis from Star trek the Next Generation although she would have to dye her hair and she is rather short. Really hate to say this but the painting looks like my daughter. Wonder if Sean Connerys son is too old now to play the part of Jamie. Or maybe the guy from Stardust. He looks about the right age. | Robert, thanks for doing all that research! I had never seen anything from the Dr. Who series but knew that was where Diana got the idea to write a novel..........just to see if she could write. Outlander was not intended to be published but some how it got out there and the rest is history. I have seen the painting of Claire for the up and coming graphic novel. She was indeed about 27 in Outlander, with Jamie being a few years younger than she. Who I picture as Claire in my mind for a movie or mini-series would be that nurse who played in the TV series, ER. She had long curly hair. Her name escapes me now. I don't see Gerard Butler as Jamie, but I do love the idea of David Wenham from LOTR! There has been some talks with Diana in regards to a movie. I am hoping it will be an HBO mini-series! |

| I was recently given the entire Outlander series in hardback, read Outlander and loved it. Could someone be so kind as to tell me the order in which to read the remaining books? Do you know if Ms. Gabaldon is going to write any more books for the Outlander series? Thank you! |

| Hello and welcome jbarron, I would be more than happy to help you out. First of all, there will be a total of 8 books in the series. Books 1-6 are to be read in the following order: 1. Outlander/Crosstitch 2. Dragonfly in Amber 3. Voyager 4. Drums of Autumn 5. The Fiery Cross 6. A Breath of Snow and Ashes Book 7 should be out in a year or two, yet untitled. Book 8 in the series will be the final book in the series. There will also be a graphic novel and many other exciting things to come. | Celticrose: I thought the title to the 7th book was AN ECHO IN THE BONE or something like that. I've just did DRUMS OF AUTUMN again for the 3d time,trying to keep things fresh in my head. | Dear Harlot, I think you are right about the 7th book being titled "An Echo In the Bone." I was afraid to say as I wasn't sure about that information. Thanks for pointing this out! I would caution all you first timers of the Outlander series not to give up when you first read the second book of the series, Dragonfly in Amber. When I first started I wanted to throw that book as far as the planet would allow! Give it time and you will be amazed. And I would also recommend everyone get the "Outlandish Companion" as it explains so much. The latest news is that after Diana finishes all 8 books in the Outlander series, she is going to come out with another Outlandish Companion. Plus, there will be prequel books about Jamie's parents and Murtagh. So we all have many more years of enjoyment and story. |

| CelticRose, I'm so happy that there's so many Diana fans on here. She is such a great writer,makes me feel as if I was right there. I've gone though all of books at least 2 times on my 3d time around and just don't get bored with it. I still not sure which one is my favorite,like you second one was alittle hard to get into but once I was done couldn't wait to start the next one. As far as making a movie or mini series I would hope they would make it true too the books but more then likely they will leave some of it out,make it to long other wise I'm afraid. I hadn't heard about the ones she going to do about Jamie's family nice to know how they all play into things. It's kinda like searching your family history getting to know who's who and how they fit in,gives me goosebumps. Hope too hear what other people think. I know the girl at our bookstore she loves reading them thanks to me ordering two at a time.I did their busness good and added another fan for her. |

I find it amusing that others had a hard time with Dragonfly in Amber. I'll admit there were a couple flat spots but I had more trouble getting through Voyager than Dragonfly. I ended up putting the books on the shelf for a few years and have recently picked back up where I left off. I hadn't heard about the prequel series - that will be great reading about the Frasers, Ellen and Murtagh. |

I agree with you wholeheartedly. I think us avid readers would find a movie series not able to live up to the books. Some books translate well to film but these are so rich and descriptive, I am afraid a lot would be lost. Plus, they could never find an actor who would look quite like the Jamie I picture in my head. |

| Yes I think the same way about Jamie,there is this guy in the town where I live that I keep saying to him that I need to see what he'd look like in a kilt. He finally asked why so I told him about the books he laughed and said I was so sweet and showed me he's legs.He has what I think Jamie's hair and eyes would look like but he'd have to work on his accent,but oh boy he looks the part. He says he would be my Jamie but darn if he isn't about 30 years too young for me. Mitzie |

| Next time at I'm at Applebee's I'll ask him. And as age shouldn't matter tried that once for 12 years trust me sometimes it does now that I'm 55 and this kid has to 23,it a shame. I'll let him know he has a fan base on Celticradio. Maybe I can get him too listen and become a member then we can all enjoy him. |

| Och, I am almost done A Breath of Snow & Ashes...It is so hard to put it down, I could finish it in an instant, but yet knowing I have to a 1 year before reading "An Echo in the Bone".... Aye, I'll finish it & read the Series over again by the time I've gone full circle (between other books of course) then the book will be out. I  reading about Jamie & Claire's relationship, families & acquaintances...action all the time..verra riveting (I sound like a critic ) |
