Just on the general subject on Israel and that it is not the promised land for everyone, taken from today's Scotsman:

No Promised Land for Israel's poor

I hope you'll all have fun tomorrow.

hehe, apples with pork go well I think...

I'm still around although not very frequent since I was quite busy in the last weeks as well as being plagued by backache.. =/
I did work on some of my great grandma's recipe's though, testing them out and such. Maybe I'll translate the recipe for Breton waffles. They are goooood.

I am of the oppinion that the hatred between West/Islamic World has deeper roots than the Israel-Palestine conflict. It is the way we behave towards them, the cultural misunderstanding and the fact that it is so easy to sway the masses when they aren't very educated.
How do we seem to those people who are poor and that only see the bad things (and probably deliberately get shown the bad things) that come from our side?

Of course, the Israel-Palestine Conflict has an impact. They see that the US is spending large sums to support Israelis of course and that other western nations seem to do the same. And how can we criticise when every time we do the "anti-semit" stamp is being pulled out again?

http://stuarthughes.blogspot.com/ In his blog there is an account on how the international media covered the Palestine boy who was caught with a bomb belt around him. I think it's worth a read.

QUOTE (Catriona)
I give my full support to British troops over there, now that they ARE there - but I wish to heavens we had never started this ill-thought out campaign.

I grieve for the families of ALL the dead - whether Iraqi civilians or Allied troops or civilian workers. I fear that this is just the beginning.

I'm with you on that, but my heart goes out to all troops that are over there. I have a friend who is in Basra at the moment and another one who just came back.
But dropping the bomb will not help. It is more likely to create more hatred. Which is what I fear is all that is happening atm. We're creating more and more hatred with the way we treat other nations/people that are not part of our "westernised" culture. Just banging the big slashhammer on everything that starts behaving in a way we don't like is not doing much I fear.
There is no real solution for the problem unless we change radically which is not very probable.

I actually remember having been forced to stay in during that time and it was brilliant weather where I lived.

There are a couple of books written in the late eighties (for adolescents and even though I read them some time in the late nineties I was horrified by them) by a German author about atomic catastrophies in Germany. One is about an atomic power plant going up, the other about atomic bombs being dropped.

My hometown in Germany regularly paid for visits and hospital treatment of children from Chernobyl (especially from carehomes) over in Germany.

Atomic power? Thanks, no.
In Kevelaer (close to the dutch border in NorthRhine-Westphalia (which is where I come from)) an atomic plant was built and due to the protest of those ppl who lived in the vicinity it never went into action. Now it is a holiday park (Kernwasser Wunderland).

Seems so.. the bump has made a habit of kicking everyone who dares to try and make it uncomfortable in my belly (as in: prodding, like my midwife, obstetrician, nurse...) biggrin.gif

Did some of them already, but I'm afraid I'll never bag the munro's... One thing is missing tho I think. Go have a wee swim in Loch Ness. Yes it's freezing but it's also quite wonderful and creepy.. Jumped off our boat when we sailed the Caledonian Canal (which is nicer than driving it up). But tourist-sailors over here need a couple of lessons in how to behave on the waters... it was worse than on the Ijsselmeer or the Northsea....

today was sunny and beautiful over here.. (greetz from Fife smile.gif ) and I spent my day doing nothing at all, which was wonderful to do after all that running about in the last few weeks. I just sat on the beach down from our house and looked up to the wee castle tower and cursed myself for not bringing my drawing equipment =)

Maybe this doesn't belong here but is there anybody here who falls under the category "networking guru"?? I'm in sore need of one. I really badly want to get back on line but the connection sharing is buggered up as well as my actual connection which is weird because it worked before I formatted... sad.gif
If anybody has some tips or needs details in my problem, e-mail me over crn or icq me (details below my post) these are the two mediums I can access best atm...

I would be glad for anything
