| According to Guiness World Records, a new record has been created for the largest bagpiper ensemble. This record did not take place in Scotland, Canada, U.S. or Australia where there are large concentrations of Pipe Bands, but in Bulgaria. They gathered 333 pipers which doesn't sound like a record that is going to stand for long. The Glengarry Highland Games in Maxville, Ontario boasts more than 60 pipe bands in the massed bands. With bands being exempt from the first massed bands due to competition playing position, this would leave probably 60 pipe bands in the first massed bands. However, all bands will play in the second massed bands. Even with just 60 bands, if each band only had 6 pipers, the record would already be shattered.
