Yeah, with this routefinder we can maybe drive instead now! Now that I got the maps all printed and the mileage! It was really wonderful for you to have provided that for us. Thank you again!

We have something like that here called Mapquest and I never go on a trip without it!

C.R.
I have been reading this thread with interest about your planned visit to these shores.
Whilst the AA route finder is indeed a valuable aide,if you have the time, you really MUST get off the main roads and head onto some of the "B" roads to see the true scenery of the country.Especially as your good man will be doing the driving. cool.gif
A couple of examples which spring to mind are:

B8019 just North/West of Pitlochry (on the Edinburgh/Inverness Road),which takes you alongside Loch Tummel. There is a viewpoint called "The Queens View" just at the start of the Loch which is pretty impressive.Quite a popular tourist stop but still worth the effort.

Whilst this next road may be a bit "off route" it is also well worth attempting. It is the single track road that runs from north of Kishorn through Applecross Forest to the west and on to the village of Applecross on the West Coast of the peninsula. Whilst this road is not for the faint hearted, the views on a clear day are great.
I think there is a link on the "undiscoveredscotland" site about this road.......?

There are so many smaller roads which (time permitting) are very rewarding.

I am sure Cat will be able to offer lots of others....

Hey Iain! Thank you so very much! I need all the help I can get as I have never even been out of the country let alone go to unfamiliar territory! The purpose of the trip for me is to do a lot of photography. I hope to get some inspiration to do some painting again too. If not, I will at least have some really great photos of the landscape and people! Hubby doesn't mind driving on the other side of the road as he said he did it fine when he was in New Zealand. As long as I don't have to do it! biggrin.gif

Thank you again, Iain! I am going to copy and paste your suggestions and add it to the list I have made. thumbs_up.gif
