Barleyjuice: "modern Pirates", Lyrics

I thought they divided up the "eagles ballroom" though into a couple of areas. But you're right I don't think many people around here know of the Juice....having some exposure at Irish Fest or even some of the smaller community festivals around here would help that quite a bit. I don't think though that the Juice is "family" enough type entertainment to get booked at Irish Fest. At least from what I've heard of their stuff here on CR. Not that it's bad or anything just don't see it being well recieved by the booking agents at Irish Fest compared with all the other acts they have showing up ya know?

Yikes Senara!!! If you want to have nothing but Charlie Zahm types (nothing against Charlie) at your local festivals, that would get very boring and wouldn't bring in the crowds.

Having seen the likes of BarleyJuice, The Barley Boys, The Tartan Terrors and others who wouldn't be considered "family", it's up to the bands to police themselves and most do when they perform at the festivals. When they perform at pubs and private parties, hopefully, there aren't children around but that really breaks down to the owner of the pub or the party thrower to make the rules.

Bottom line is, encourage the promoters of these festivals to bring in bands like BarleyJuice and others like them. The bands know their business and know their audience. They won't jeopardize future opportunities. Promoters do talk to each other and they do voice their opinions about the bands that they hired to the other promoters.

It's in our blood to have fun, do it!!

Oh I know they'd have to tone it down a bit....hate to see that happen myself. I don't think that it would be a huge problem no. Just thinking it would be hard for the entertainment team at the festival to make such a decision based on the samples of music I have heard here. Not saying it would never be possible but it would be complicated I would think. There are a lot of groups out there and they have to consider the balance and make sure there's something for everyone.

Barleyjuice DOES, in fact, have numerous songs and tunes that we play for Festivals and private events that are more traditional in base. The early days of the band were primarily our own spins on traditionals. That really remains to this day. There are only a handful of tunes that could be termed "out there"... and that's for those who want more than the standards. Only when requested will we dive into the others... but that's virtually every gig!!!

Barleyjuice has played in more places than I can imagine... from auditoriums, to blocked-off city streets, festivals, yacht clubs and private events. We do have the ability and experience to view the situation and play what's appropriate. Not to worry all!

As for Chicago:
1). Make sure to check Shay Clarke's review of "6 Yanks". You may have to Google the exact location since I don't keep those things around.
2). We're looking at September 8-10 to be in town. We'll see if we can't get the logistics settled on this one. It would be the St.Catherine's/Fox Valley Irish Festival... plus some local establishment appearances for the fun of it. At this point, it's not completely confirmed.

September has us beginning in Chicago, then Baltimore, then Northampton MA, then Western PA, then Hartford CT.

Hey Jimmy, let me know if you ever play Broadway...uh North Carolina that is. (really small town about 35 miles south of Raleigh) Seriously, wish you played down this way some. Oh well, I'll just have to listen on Celtic Radio.
