Why Do You Go To Church?

To worship God.

To worship God and for the Chirstian fellowship.

I am a serious social butterfly so I really enjoy the fellowship. I do enjoy the teachings because it enriches my knowledge. It helps me to focus and dig deeper into the word. I also go for support and a shoulder to lean on sometimes.

Although we have lived here for 25 years, until very recently neither the wife nor I had any blood relatives nearby. Last winter, her sister moved up here. Our church has been our extended family for the past quarter decade. I go for all the other reasons; worship, fellowship, a responsibility to the Church, but I also go because going to church is a family get together for me.

I go to church to worship God and His Son Jesus.

Along with the usual list of fundamental reasons, I go to church for inner peace.

It re-news my soul. And it prepares me to meet the challenges of the new week with God at my side. No matter what life throws at me, I know that I am well armed to meet it.

I don't go to a building to worship or pray... my cathedral is the great outdoors as the creator made it!

As is mine, Shadows. But, I need more as well, so I go to church. The cathedral made by the hands of God feeds me, being in community with others, hearing sermons challenges me. I am challenged by the words of scripture, the words of the sermons and I am ultimately challenged when interacting with others in Christian love. I also go to church to contribute. If it were all about me, I'd not need a church building or family very much. Such is the life of an introvert. But, God gave me certain talents and it is my duty to share them for the good of the body. So, I sing in choirs and Praise Band. I lead children's choirs. I write plays and skits. I participate and sometimes teach Sunday School. And in the community I find something I would live without if it were up to me.

Well, I suppose there are several reasons why I go. For refreshment, to worship together with others, out of obedience to God's command, for the encouragement and fellowship of other Christians. I think all of these are important.
