beer_mug.gif Scotland has voted to remain part of the United Kingdom but they are calling for more power. Scotland has had a long rocky past with England that I was hoping that they would vote for Independence from England or the UK.

I know that Scotland doesn't have their own money but I'm sure they could have made it as an independent country even if it got of to a rocky start. England is probably glad that they are still part of the UK since they might have had a weaker army since some subs are in Scotland waters.

And knowing how many wars that they fought England for Independence. After seeing Braveheart I wonder what William Wallace would say about this vote.

Personally, I think he would have wanted an Independent country. So they wouldn't have the English monarchy dictating rules or having the final say about what Scotland does.

I was completely Gutted when I heard. It's so sad, but it's not over. Scotland will have independence some day!

Scotland has never known what to do with freedom. If they weren't under the thumb of England, then they were stabbing each-other in the back.

Even now... look at what they have become; socialist, bordering on communism. They have had so many opportunities to get it right, and they always miss. It really is sad. And now... they are being invaded by those who would destroy what's left of Scotland.

The truth of the matter is... The idea of Scotland, is much better than the reality of it.

Given the world economy right now, Scotland probably made the right choice by refusing Independence.

For right now at least. It just doesn't seem like something that would be a wise idea right now, for any country. Quebec is a perfect example for Canada.

Oh.

And I want to say that Teton is wrong about stabbing each other in the back...

But as a MacKay learning about his families sordid history of political backstabbing.

I have a hard time saying much.

Any body who has read Scottish history, knows that when the clans weren't waring with England, they were waring with each other; mostly over land/property lines, etc. On more than one occasion, clans sided with Scotland's enemies, hoping to make gains through Scotlands' loss.

I'm pretty sure "dirty politics" was another of Scotland's many inventions rolleyes.gif

People have been killing each other for power and privilege since before recorded history. Many things have changed through history, unfortunately human nature has not.

My question is... With the MASSIVE influx of Muslims into the GB ( and we all know what happens when they reach a certain percentage of the population), how will Scotland's history / castles / memorials / etc., fair against this backwards culture. Do we need to start evacuating what we can to the US? And, is it even possible?

Interesting concern, given their history of once reaching a majority to ban or get rid of by any means things that do not exalt islam. The exception seems to be the Kurds, who like the rest of us are concerned with bettering their and their childrens' lot in life.
