Hi Mac! I was so glad a few months to see Distant Oaks added to the music library! I have known Deborah White for several years through her online mailing list for Gaelic learners and have found her to be jsut a wonderful person and an absolute inspiration. She is a Christian, as am I, and we have developed a close on-line friendship. And I just love her music! Her deep voice compliments the traditional feel of her music in my opinion. And I love their Gaelic songs! Anyway, keep up the good work Mac! We have a local band that I recently heard for the first time at the Radford Highlnader Festival, called Beggars' Circus. And as soon as I can figure out how to get in touch with them, i'm hoping to talk them into putting some their music on here too! |

Rich and warm, the music doesn't just emulate the sounds of the period, rather it summons the very essence of this era up like some conjuror weaving his spell. |

I'm grateful to Highland Radio for making me aware for the first time of this wonderful group. I've bought one CD and have 2 others on the way, I cannot get enough of their fantastic sound. The music reflects celtic, medieval and renaissance traditions and sometimes a blend of all three together with a deeply spiritual quality that sets the group apart from all others I know. As if that is not enough, the youth of it's two male members adds to my amazement that such a mature and accomplished sound can come from such young men, not forgetting one of the most beautiful female voices I have heard in quite a while. |

Just a note that Distant Oaks is no longer together as a band. It's founder, Deborah White, passed away a number of years ago. She was active in the Scottish Gaelic Language discussion groups where she was known as Gobnait. A very talented musician that will be missed. I am sure her two talented sons are carrying on the tradition..... We will keep Distant Oaks in our featured artist section and also continue playing their music as a tribute to her music. |

Deborah's presence is sorely missed by the Gaelic-learning community in the US. She had patience unlike anyone else I have ever seen for learners, and her love and enthusiasm for both the language and the music was unparalleled. You are missed, a' Ghobnait |
