[CENTER]Ballad of the Unsung Hero

So now I tell you of a Man

You might not know his Name

He died too young , for Freedom

He felt no need of fame.

His life it was a priveleged one

He needn't have a care

But fight he did with heart and soul

As if, no time to spare.

He heard of Berwick's massacre

The cruelty of the King

He knew without his Freedom Life did not mean a thing.

And so to Dunbar came this man

He rallied all the men

They knew it might be hopeless

Outnumbered one to ten.

Two days two nights they held the line

Forever they would stay But English might, did crush them Until another Day.

They cast him into prison then

They said, Until He Dies!

Came the day they found him Gone

Imagine their surprise.

Escaped, he ran for Highland home

He could have hid there, long.

But no, his raised his Standard

Three stars,Pure white,blew strong.

All souls of Avoch saw this flag

They rallied to the Cause

He gathered strength around him

He did this without pause

He knew he could have bought his way

To favor with the King

So many others did this,

What harm could this Way bring?

To live his life without the Hope that Freedom gives us all

Was not a life worth living To Them, he would not crawl.

Across the north of Scotland now

The call to Arms went out

He came, he saw, he conquered

And drove the English out.

Till came the day he met a match

In courage, strength,and Heart

He forged a bond with Wallace

Together, a new Start.

They marched their armies onward, strong,

To Stirling Bridge they came

They met the English forces

A Battle held in Fame.

They charged the bridge with swords held fast

That bright September morn

Cut down the mighty English

This Man, a Hero born.

And in the midst of battle's fray

This Patriot did fall.

Fought to live beyond his wounds

But Death won, after all.

His name adorns no monuments

His deeds still unspoken.

A cairn atop Avoch Hill Remains the lone token.

But when I rode to Bannockburn

I brought my Fathers name

His is mine, Andrew de Moray

To me , he lives, in Fame.
