Firstly, I would like to thank all of the hard working memebers of CR for making such a great game!

Holiday mode has begun to be abused. It is not being used in the spirit of the game or what it was meant for. I'd like to see this option go away, or perhaps make it a bit more difficult to enter. Maybe when going into holiday mode you are locked out of CR as a whole for 72 hours? If you are truly on holiday this should not be a problem for anyone.

Abused? How so? I for one am sitting with friends in Portland. It IS after all spring break. If taking off to visit over spring break ISN'T a holiday, then what is?
I'm TERRIBLY sorry that this has interfered with y'all's little get together. Perhaps next time you should make an appointment, my life doesn't revolve around what you want after all.

I will post here as Lady of Avalon the CR member so not to be confused with the character of the game... as it seems to be the case for many here that are confusing game and reality.

I for one would not appreciate at all as a "paying" CR Founder member to find myself locked out of CR completely because I would use one of the game features no matter the reasons. For one,the reasons one would use the feature are and I will say again,no ones business.

And second, the game is a free service offered to ALL CR members with all the features included in it, thus it would be quite unfair for those that pays for the extra CR services to be locked out of the site completely.

Celtic Radio and the Medieval Kingdom game are two different entities and one should not be confused with the other or included together in terms of strategy in the game even though one has to log on CR to play the game but we have still to log on a different server.

As far as I'm concerned one doesn't have to be on "Holiday" to use a feature in the game...as I stated the reasons one player who uses this feature doesn't concern anyone and doesn't need to be explained to anyone why he/she would use it.

are all of you in portland with lord dogshirt? i just found it hilarious that you all went on holiday mode at the same time... it is sweet that you all have your little get togethers on spring break and share stories.

Dont' even try to sugar coat the fact that the lot of you all went on holiday mode to avoid being attacked. Dogshirt I understand if you went on holiday mode for vacation but for the rest of you really? do you expect the entire Medieval kingdom community to be that gullable?

I for one am glad I was not here to witness first hand when it happened or my words would have been worse.

I actually agree with you LOA, a player should be able to use this feature to their advantage in the game. Perhaps we just need to rename it, say something like "I want to avoid an attack mode" or "Turn and run mode". biggrin.gif

The name of the feature is holiday mode, thus explaining what it's there for.

It's supposed to be used for when you go on holiday. Any other usage of this mode is perhaps not cheating, but certainly an exploit. I'm sure Paul can tell us what it's there for, but it seems pretty clear to me.

Now, if the push is simply for a mode where you cannot be attacked, I definitely vote against that.

The help file and Preferences screen say that you will not be able to log into the game for 75 ticks. What is a tick? An hour? If so, then people cannot log into the game for 75 hours upon going into holiday mode. You know about when they'll come out of it, and you can attack then. If they stay on holiday mode forever, well, they'll never gather any resources, according to the description of the mode. Then you can become more powerful while they sit there not wanting to be attacked.

You can also gather support for a multi-clan offensive against those who choose to stay in holiday mode rather than play the game.

Finally, there is a check against players who attack for no reason, it's called the clan system, and diplomacy. If you are unjustly attacked, gather support for your cause amongst the clans.

I don't support a mode that allows you to get out of one of the facets of the game. If Paul would like to remove war altogether, then perhaps we could call it something different. Like Fantasy Island? Medieval Boringness?

Anyway, it's an opinion on Holiday Mode, and in no way reflects upon the current aborted war.

Also, I do not support any feature that locks one out of CR as a whole. Out of logging into MK, I DEFINITELY support something like that. If someone goes into a mode designed for when you "do not have time to log into your account", they're not supposed to be logging into their MK account. Seems pretty simple to me.

I in no way would support if someone went into holiday mode that they wouldn't be able to log into CR altogether. There are many times that I log on just to listen to the music throughout the day and do not check my MK account at that time.

I do however, and not just because of this last occurrence feel it is right for someone just to go into holiday mode to avoid being attacked. We all seen this happen last time and the thing is that you know when you are going to be taken out of holiday mode and can easily hit the button and go right back into it to to avoid being attakced again before anyone can hit you.

The only way you could have this button be of use and not be abused is by the honor system, and people only using the holiday mode when they are ill, on vacation, without computer for X amount of days. I just do not see an entire clan going on all of those or any of those together at the same time. I do not expect any of them to go by an honor system, because you first have to have honor to do so.

I have been for over a week moving into a new house and I never once thought to put myself in holiday mode, for I was NOT GOING ON HOLIDAY!!!!

butch up and be noble and honorable and stop being a bunch of wussies you probably would still win the damn battles anyway even if you were attacked i don't see what the lot of you are afraid of in the first place.

Dear brash Lords & fair-witch'n Ladies of Medievalness,

May it be said that I would prefer Holiday mode to be called "Drop your tartan and run" mode. Now this could be used for taking an emergency trip to the W.C., or for going wild on Spring Break (etc, etc), or for grabbing the horns of the altar for mercy from a whooping, or for pure yellow cowardice - like recently witnessed by many in seeing the pale bottoms of the MacInnes streak'n across the moors and heading for the hills. In any event, one gets under the kilt - sort a speak...

To the sweet Halls of Newstead Abbey in Kilkerran, its all the same... some times ya just gotta drop the tartan and streak the hell out of there. Thank you Clan MacInnes for the object lesson. thumbs_up.gif This is quite entertaining, I do say! Yes, quite.

In the Kingdom of Kilkerran we are for freedom... even the freedom to make an fool of oneself, even the freedom to fail, and even the freedom to go on holiday - but holiday is soon over before you know it.

From the blessed glens Kilkerran,
Lord Englishmix

I post this here to goad ALL of you, my clan members as well as the rest of you.
As I posted earlier, I am in Portland(not really Portland, but that's the closest town of size to here).
Tomorrow, we are going to a wee place called "The Highland Stillhouse". At last report they had OVER 180 single malts and growing!I could get used to drinking whiskey like that! biggrin.gif
I only posted this here since I stated in this thread that I was in Portland. I will start a new thread tomorrow with a review of our trip.
Y'all have a good evening and I'll be back tomorrow with the mouthwatering news!

Lord Dogshirt enjoy your holiday, hope you get some dry weather the country side is much more beautiful when it is not muddy and watch that single malt, I have almost gotten in trouble a couple of times from taste testing, But Spring Break is just that time to take a brake, enjoy the scotch and please do tell your favorites.
