I was just curious how many of you like Runrig. I have gotten into them over this summer, having downloaded a smattering of their tunes.

Does anyone have a favourite cd or song to recommend?

I seem to enjoy Bruce Guthro (a fellow Bluenoser wink.gif ) as lead singer, rather than Donnie Munro (also my great grandfather's name rolleyes.gif ). Is that the general consensus?

From what I have heard, Proterra is my favourite cd. I really love the song "All the Miles". I haven't heard it yet on Celtic Radio.

I am a big Runrig fan! I have about 5 or 6 of their CDs. My all time favorite is Celtic Glory though. I heard they are fantastic in concert!

About 10 years ago, I worked a country music cruise on Norwegian Cruise Lines. While standing in a lunch buffet line, I heard a Scottish brogue coming from behind me. Having only recently discovered Celtic music, I engaged him in conversation. Over lunch, we talked about Scotland, Nashville, and naturally, music. He asked if I had ever heard of Runrig, and I told him no. He said he'd send me a tape. After an enjoyable day of relaxing on the beach, he and his girlfriend came to hear our band play that night. We exchanged addresses and told each other we'd stay in touch. Despite the best of intentions, I lost his address. However, a few months later a tape came in the mail. It was Runrig's "Once In A Lifetime", the live album which has the version of "Loch Lomond" often heard on HR. I was hooked, and have been a fan ever since. I also have the 2CD set "Gaelic Collection". I love it, even though I don't speak Gaelic. My favorite Runrig songs are: "Dance Called America", "Loch Lomond", "Protect and Survive", "Da Mhile Bliadhna", and "Summer Walkers".

Side Note: my Scottish friend whose name I sadly cannot recall let me try on his kilt. I gotta get me one of those. Maybe after I lose some weight.
