SOURCE SHADOWS - clan McEwen 1 Pound Minced beef - hamberger course chopped 2 Ounce Suet,finely chopped Salt and freshly ground black pepper 1/4 Tsp. Ground cloves 1/2 Tsp. Ground ginger 1/2 Tsp. Ground mace 1/2 Tsp. Ground coriander 1/2 Tsp. Dark brown sugar 1 Egg, beaten Medium oatmeal - to coat
Spices are used frequently in Scottish cooking. While degree of seasoning is always a matter of taste, these beef balls should always be highly flavored.
Mix all the ingredients together thoroughly and shape into 6 balls.
Roll in oatmeal and fry in deep fat for about 5-7 minutes, depending on size, until they are a deep brown colour and cooked through.
