Just looking for a little feedback on the broadcast.

Posted by: MacEoghainn 04-Apr-2004, 11:22 AM
Macfive,

Since I appear to be the first voter I thought I'd qualify my response: Would like to hear more music from our Welsh kindred (including some of their Choirs). Otherwise I think Highlander Radio is GREAT!!!

My only thoughts are:

Need to add more songs to the general mix. The songs cycle to much and you get tired of hearing them over and over.

People are voting on songs (maybe, not as much as you would have liked) and it's obvious by the votes, that some of them need to be canned.

That's all I can think of for now.

Still a good job, Paul. thumbs_up.gif

Paul-

I love the station "as is". The only request I have is: no "Danny Boy" puke.gif !!!

Posted by: booker1122 04-Apr-2004, 12:35 PM
Don't get to listen as much as I would like (Silly IT guys complain about bandwidth here at work all the time, so I usually only get to listen evenings/weekends...)

Seems to me that, since a large part of the playlist is listener generated via requests, that if someone wants more of their favorites on, they need to request them... (at least 5 a day, anyway!!) tongue.gif

I love the old classics, but have quite a bit of respect for some of the newer sounds as well.

Until I get time and money to round out my CD Collection, Highlander Radio is my first choice!!

Thanks for the hard work!!

I enjoy the current mix. Just the right blend of traditional/nontraditional and new music. If there is something that I'm in the mood for I just request it.

You just keep making the site better and better with every tweak without overdoing it. Please keep up the wonderful work!

Perfect!

Thank you O MacMaster!
The great and powerful Oz has it perfect

Posted by: Angel Whitefang (Rider) 07-Apr-2004, 08:41 AM
I think it's perfect the only thing I would change is that we can make more then 3 requests in an hour and more then 5 requests in a day. I know there are alot of listeners but................

The mix is great. The current rotation tends to stagnate after a while (seem to be hearing the same rotation two months later, when it's getting old) But this is no big deal. I just crank my local playlist for a couple weeks, and HR is fresh and new when I come back biggrin.gif Things like that are part of listening to a radio station, and if I don't like it, I can do something about it with:

killall mplayer ; mp3 /home/lunatic/Celtic.m3u

The mix of modern and traditional is great though. Keep up the good work, Lord MacArthur! I'm looking forward too, to better cross browser support. Any way I can help?

Keep it going with the current mix... you'll get no complaints from me!

Varioty is the spice of life!

I like the current mix. Keep up the fantastic work! thumbs_up.gif The only this is I wish we could request more than three songs in a hour....but I know rules are rules... rolleyes.gif

I love the current mix! I love everything that is played. (But I'm not crazy about the techno stuff...) My very favorite is the bagpipe and drums! Keep up the terrific work!

I love everything about the station. EVERYTHING!!! I only don't listen on Sundays from 10:00 - 12:00 (CST) when our own local Celtic Crossings radio station is on. It's our local Hiberninan radio station and I gotta be loyal!!

But I love Highlander Radio. I tell everyone that I can and have a link to my family's website so they can listen whil they read up on family news. clap.gif gossip.gif

just found this site and have it on right now, Not many places(music stores) here in North Carolina have a big selection of celtic music wife is 100% Irish and in half Irish half English, So we buy when we find celtic music manly from the gatherings during the sseason.
Just a fantastic station thumbs_up.gif

Although I've been listening to Celtic music for over 15 years, Highlander Radio has introduced me to a number of new artists, and new songs by favorite artists. I get to hear great music all day long and if I hear a song I don't particularly like, it's over in a few minutes and on to something else.

All in all, I wouldn't change a thing.

Posted by: faolin 17-May-2004, 07:05 PM
Awesome selection, but I would have to agree with nehalenni that I could do with less of the techno and more of the classic. And more than 3 requests, pretty please?

I am watching this thread with great interest and making note of all of your suggestions.

The website development is going to be wrapping up within 30 days. Most likely around July alot of our time will be freed up to work on the broadcast. First items on our list are a complete review of all 4,000 + songs; coming up with a broadcast schedule and some specialty programming: such as soft only Celtic music in the late evening hours through the early A.M.'s.

We also have plans for music hours. Such as playing music from 1 musician, bagpipe hours, jigs & reel and a special childrens half hour.

And of course, Rebecca (the Voice of Highlander Radio) will be making her presence known on the broadcast later on this summer! wink.gif

I love this station. I've been apart of it from almost the begining. It's been my one link to Celtic Music. Don't have much up here. Paul you've done a wonderful job I can't thank you enough. thumbs_up.gif thumbs_up.gif thumbs_up.gif

The station is just fine. I listen while at work and it gives my CD collection a rest.

A few more of the irish fight songs would be nice.

Posted by: Aragorn 18-May-2004, 09:37 AM
I love the mix of traditional and contemperary music you all play, very nice. Keep it up, it makes my day at work alot nicer when I can listen to Highlander Radio.

I would like to hear some, F.R.E.U.D.

Or 2002

Or Libera
http://www.libera.org.uk/off.htm

Or Mediaeval Baebes,
http://www.mediaevalbaebes.com/

Also I would like songs from the Waterboys like, The return of Pan or
Universal Hall or Spiritual City. How about more Pouges songs?

I already love Highlander as it is.

Paul! You have done a terrific job in providing us with both traditional and contemporary and I would only suggest that you continue with that feature! Thank you! thumbs_up.gif

Oh, I think the selection is perfect. Just the right mix. My beef is with those who request, as I've complained before.

We need to be more restricting on how often a song or artist can be played a day. No more than four times a day, I say, and no nearer than four hours apart.

Posted by: TheCarolinaScotsman 18-Jun-2004, 06:33 PM
The mix is pretty much right on. Some days I'd like more of one thing, some days more of another. Depends on my mood. Since you can't program for my mood (and why not may I ask? wacko.gif ), you do a good job of beating up that laughing fortune teller (striking a happy medium).

The broadcast is great! I enjoy it each time I am on the computer, I leave it running in the background! laugh.gif

Ooh! I love the photo of the Highlander girl..........you know............the Irish announcer gal of Highlander Radio. she is really pretty and it is nice to see her face.

The mix is great; I especially like the soft music at night. walkman.gif

I like the mix and appreciate the effort to tweak the playlist to match folks' suggestions!

Posted by: VetteGal 23-Sep-2004, 10:59 PM
Personally, I wish it was the way it was before with no sleepy time music at night. I usually get on at about 10 - 11 PM CST and by that time I cannot request anything since now you must wait an hour to hear a request (not up to Paul). I used to listen for hours at night since I am up until about 4 AM CST. But now, I barely listen since there is nothing to get my feet moving, and the blood flowing. I know you are trying to make the station better, but, think about all the listeners in Europe also. If they listen while they are at work, like a lot of the people here in the US, all they get to hear is sleepy time music. Plus, they don't get to make requests. Just my 2 cents.

Well, I'd like to add my voice to the mix here. I really enjoy the mix of Celtic Music. I have been a fan of Celtic Fusion Rock for several years, but my only exposure to it was at the Highland Games in pleasanton, which is why my favorite has and always will be Seven Nations. smile.gif

However, I have gotten Aselin Debison and Amadan since I started listening last month. (And I won Rise, Posing as Human!) smile.gif

However, I actually LOVE the techno-bagpipes stuff. I especially like Mark Saul's stuff. Don't completely kill it from the rotation. biggrin.gif
