I am looking to replace my 20 something, Barbour Bedale..
No one in the U.S discounts these at all !

I called Harrods, but London is off the hook for price !

These are made in the UK...
What I am hoping for is ordering one from there,
and getting a wee bit of a price break...
These have gotten very dear lately !

Any one from there know of any place that discounts Barbour,
and ships to the States ?

I'd appricate any input !
Thank you smile.gif .

Arianrhod I don't know any place that gives decent breaks on that. Everything is so over priced over in the UK. The woolen goods are always expensive but well worth it. Harrod's is my favorite place to shop and I can always find a few good deals in there. Some things I've bought there were comparable to here in the states. But few. It's just like here, you have to really watch the prices and shop til ya drop.

Paula
This is the company that my husband uses when buying mail order. I'm not sure if they only do mail order within the UK, though....

http://www.allweathers.co.uk/system/index.html

A Barbour googlesearch suggests going on ebay to buy....?!

The fact that the dollar has weakened against the pound makes our things even more expensive to American pockets.

If you are ever going to use Harrod's for mail order, - it's probably best to wait for their sales - the bargains are truly amazing - but I'd be surprised if they ever put Barbours into the sales - too many people are ready to pay the full asking price!

Cat..
Thank you , much better price's even with a heavy ship rate..
I wrote, and asked if they would ship to the States..

I have ordered from Harrods before.. and spoke to the woman I usally deal with .
She told me Londons shopping has just gone thru the roof , as far as price..
No, they never discount the classic Barbours..

I have looked a good bit on the net, with a few different engines..
ebay has some.. but many are used .. some are from the UK.. and I can not get a reply on shipping , that bothers me..I don't want any negitve feed back for cancelling , because someone wants one hundred dollars for shipping.
( yes that happens)..
I keep checking the on-line aution houses.. but if I can get one from a store..
I would rather..

The sales clerk from Harrods also recomened a site, from New Zeland..
There is a Barbour textile there it seems... the prices were so good
I want to do a bit of research .. a bit too good to be true wink.gif

Thanks for the link!
Looks VERY promising !

Have you looked at the Australian firm Drizabone (Dry as a Bone, geddit? rolleyes.gif ) They are very popular here - especially their riding coats, which are a little more 'stylish'!. They seem more popular than Barbours nowadays.
Have to confess, I've got one - as well as 2 different length barbours!

Here's their website. http://www.drizabone.com.au/

Cat smile.gif

I do have an "outback" duster ..and those are good looking coats..
There was a link to Wallabe on that site, I was happy to see
I love those shoes !

I got used to my "frumpy" Sloane Ranger Barbour LOL..
besides ,Wellies look just plain silly with anything else..
Mine is just too dignified shabby for some spring driving events
I have coming up ..

The hunt continues !

My most recent Barbour was purchased about 5 years ago - so that makes it a relative 'new' item! They seem to last forever. The older one just sits in the car boot - for use in case of bad weather. Which in this country means often! Still looks OK, though. biggrin.gif I HATE Barbours when they are brand new - that smell..... EUCHHHHHHHH wink.gif

I got my last one in Ireland..
Had I have known, I'd have gotten two!
20 some years of hard service.. and its just starting to show it's age..

I swear you could smell that "wax" in the cabin on the flight home..
Mom allways made me hang it in the mud room..
but that wax keeps the fabric in great shape!
I rode the trolley to town one day when mine was fairly new..
I got a seat ALLLLLLLLLL by myself wink.gif

They really are testimonials to them selves..

I can imagine what the other passengers were thinking, trying to work out exactly WHAT that smell was!

Yes, my oldest coat must be about that vintage, too.... biggrin.gif

All you need is the Hermes headsquare and the Hunter wellies (see website) and you'll be invisible in any crowd of Sloane Rangers in the countryside!

My Hunters must be about 8-9 years old, and STILL going strong!

I've got the head gear wink.gif
What I do not have is RED Wellies ..
I want those !

The only thing stronger than a pair of Wellies is the box they come in !
I have stored some of my most treasured Christmas Tree decorations
in mine.. for years .. the handle comes in handy ..

Since the Aussie coats have made the sceene there,
I bet your going to see some Blunnies replace Wellies as footwear ..
http://www.sugarriveroutfitters.com/asp/br...&cmp=4001230101

I love to watch the Sloanes !
Only they could make the "chubby " popular here in the States !

All that gear came in handy when I took Sissy to Border Collie trails..
works great in rain and mud ..

SW PA must have weather much like Scotland Cat ..

Many years ago there was a book by Peter someone called 'The Sloane Ranger Handbook'.... It was SO funny!

Yes, sounds like the weather is similar.... rolleyes.gif We always say, 4 seasons in one day during the summer!

Oh... that's a pity, Paula... I'll see if I can find any sites which do overseas orders. sad.gif

So, we'll all be able to recognise you then, you'll be the only person in Penn with cherry red wellies? cool.gif
