Every family has stories that are strange, weird, or just plain amusing. After all, folks do the darndest things, and they all have families to tell about it. I'll start off with two family stories, one old and one new. Then the rest of you chip in with the "unconventional" folks in your families.

When my mother was a child, about 1920, her folks hosted a family gathering. Of course, everyone brought food for the covered dish dinner. One of the desserts was hand cranked ice cream. Later that afternoon, one of mom's cousins, who was a toddler at the time, was walking around repeating, "Cold, cold." On closer examination, it was found that he had stuffed every pocket with ice cream to take home.

This past weekend, a cousin's son got married. David is a real country boy. He was his son's best man and it was hard to tell who was more nervous. Later, David disappeared half way through the reception. When he showed back up, he had gotten rid of the tux and was dressed like David: overalls, plaid flannel shirt and work boots. You can take the boy out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the wedding, or at least the reception.

Ahhh...my family, I could go on forever!!! Let's see a recent story of mine shows you how much my family needs to get out! During Thanksgiving, my six younger siblings put a play on for the family. It wasn't just any play though...it was WORD for WORD and ACTION for ACTION reanactment of the Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers... I mean word for word. It was soooo funny. We laughed all the way through it.

There's a dear little plant that grows in our Isle
Twas St . Patrick himself, sure, that set it;
And the sun of his labour with pleasure did smile,
And with dew from his eye often wet it.
It grows through the bog, through the brake, through the
Mireland, and they call it the dear little shamrock of Ireland.
