Next to my grandkids saltwater fishing is my passion. Being a licensed Coast Guard charter boat captain I am able to introduce many people to saltwater fishing on Georgia's coastal waters. One of my memorable fishing experiences was when my grandson caught a bonnethead shark. He was only 7 at the time. This shark almost pulled him overboard. When I brought the shark on board the shark was as long as Sam was tall. The shark was released unharmed and Sam was all smiles. The length of the shark was about 4 ft. cool.gif

QUOTE (maisky @ 15-Feb-2007, 04:03 AM)
Dear Abby,

Odd argument in progress in new home:

Wife: "we need to go buy the boat this weekend".

Me:  "That is a lot of money to spend right now".

Wife: "But, I'm buying it from my inheritance".

Me:  "Im not sure the 14 footer is right, but it is all that my car can tow and that will fit in the garage", besides, $14,000. is a lot of money.

Wife: "Quit whining and buy the boat".

Me: "There is still ice on the river".

Wife: "We need to buy it NOW".

Question: Does this mean my wife wants to have an affair and needs to get me out of the house?  unsure.gif

tongue.gif I wonder ... your owner may just be trying to get rid of you ... fear.gif Any neighbors she's quite friendly with?

Well, I think you need to go buy the boat fish.gif so that you will have it when I get there. fishing is of utmost importance, you know cheers.gif

Are you sure 14 foot is large enough? Ours is 17. hmmmm decisions.

How many wives are going to INSIST that you go buy a boat? What a woman biggrin.gif

Job situation seems to be stabilizing. I plan to procede with purchase of the 14' boat. As for it being big enough, ill just have to trim some off any fish that I catch that are bigger than that. biggrin.gif

Well, after tearful begging by my owner that I let her buy me the boat, we are doing it tomorrow morning. It will take about 3 weeks for the motor to get here. It is a Alumicraft fisherman 145 with center console and a 30 hp mercury 4 stroke engine. It includes a center console and a landau top. Sigh...I think im in love!

We did it! My owner paid with one of her "monopoly" checks. I asked the shop owner if it was ok if we paid in full, in advance. biggrin.gif

I go to order the trailer hitch for my car tomorrow.

It is sad, but I have NO fishing equipment.

TIME TO SHOP!!! beer_mug.gif

i went deep sea fishing once...that didn't go too well! used anchovies and squid for bait...i caught a couple of real winners! My bass was just barely big enough to fillet, and the other one was something very ugly, spiky and poisonous! thank god someone told me not to try to take it off the hook myself!! i don't even like fish anyways...they smell!

Another 10 days until I take delivery on on my new boat (The Dumpy). Having trainer hitch put on car Friday. Getting the wiring for lights done on Monday. 2 different places. This used to be easier. The dealer for the boat will take me out on shake down cruise and show me how to work the bells and whistles on it. Sure, there will be a manual for the fish finder, but REAL MEN dont read directions! biggrin.gif
