I'm going to Flagstaff on August 24th to hear the Irish group Grada. Has anyone ever heard them? They come highly recommended by the great band Lunasa, so I'm looking forward to giving them a listen.

I'll post a review when after the concert. If you've heard them, let me know!

Have a great day!

I had the pleasure of seeing Grada perform at the Milwaukee Irish Fest last summer -- you won't be disappointed! The female vocalist (whose name, unfortunately, escapes me at the moment) has an amazing voice, light and lovely, and the whole band plays with such energy...

Grada's music sounds (to me) like a blend of traditional Irish with a jazzy feel to it -- great to listen to on cd (their "Tread Softly" from their cd The Landing Step is one of my all-time favorite songs) but they're even better live.

Hope you enjoy the concert! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts biggrin.gif

I've seen Grada a couple of times in Milwaukee. Always a fantastic show. You won't be disappointed Haynes....

Everybody was right about Grada! What a terrific group! They put on a great show in Flagstaff Friday night.

Nicola Joyce is the lead singer and she has a wonderful voice. She puts me in the mind somewhat of Cathy Jordan from Dervish. Alan Doherty is a terrific flute player, but I like his work on the whistles even more. Colin Farrell is a tremendous fiddler. Gerry Paul is about as energetic as you can be on the guitar. Andrew Laking plays the double bass and he make sit shine. Let me put it this way - my three daughters (two teens and one "tweener") had a blast. Alan was a lot of fun to visit with and the whole band was very relaxed and friendly with the fans. If you ever get a chance to hear these folks and if you like Trad, you'll love Grada.

Their new project is called Cloudy Day Navigation and it includes a bonus DVD. I will try and get a copy for Paul to play. It's good!

I think our favorite tunes at the concert were Cooler at the Edge, Twenty-One Foot Man, The Queen and the Soldier, River, and The Eighteenth of June.
