First off I have to say YAHOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!  :D

Got my new system today walked into Sam's club and they had an HP system not as much RAM as I wanted in the system itself but they had a great deal on 256 MB chips so bought 2 of them to replace the mere 128 that was in the system so is a great system now with 1.3 gig processor. DVD and CD-RW 60 GIG Harddrive. Am in 7th heaven can't wait to get it set up just had to check everything here before getting to involved in ripping my desk apart.  :D

Anywho on the banner. Could you not reverse the order so that the stats bar is at the top on it's own frame or table? Then have the intro banners and such unattached that way the stats bar is always at the top were viewers can see it and maybe even a menu attached for easy navigation yet not interfere so much in the viewing area? Just a quick though 1 of about a gazillion floating in my head right now as I try and remember everything I need off this current system.  :p

It's not my site so easy  to add suggestions. Try and do it with my own site and forget I'm a blank. LOL  :p

I HAVE to add mine also.  I like both sites.  It's true what's been said you can be "under constrution" forever.  Take it from one who lives with web designer.  He's never totaly happy with his sites.
But they do look good.:D

I also like the Win Amp.  If I like a song or group I can write down the name so I can buy it.  Don't get much Celtic music here in frozen north :p

Hi Group

Just posting this maybe we can all post our thoughts here on the station so we can all see what each other likes and doesn't like about the new site to help Paul make the final tweaks to get it to be the best site it can be.

Couple suggestions that I noted from a webmasters point of view.

The main header banners. I'd take a look at that. You have 2 banners almost competeing against each other. Might want to go with one banner or break it up differently. Also frames. Just a thought. I personally liked the way the old site was laid out where the top banners disappeared when viewing the site. They aren't needed as such to do anything with the site (Not including of course the stats bar) but with frames it takes away a good chunk of the screen making the view area even smaller and the user has to scroll around more to get to items they want so you might want to reconsider this. Am in several web design groups and this seems to be a general agreement as more agree that frames aren't the best item to use in part because of the reduced screen area. That would be the only changes I would possibly make as far as changes. Maybe swap the stats bar with the banner bar and put the stats bar in a small frame at the top so you can always see the stats yet the main banners don't get in the way of viewing the rest of the site. Just a thought.

Now addtions. Add a new box with a recommend this site button so visitors can send friends invites to come in and join the fun. great way to help build more listening audience and also help the whole community grow.

And this new IM Radio interface looks cool can't wait to try it out.

So my main points are with the header itself other than that new site looks great!!!  :D

Good points Dave.

The competing banner is only temporily. I am looking into a banner Ad that can provide funds to defer the cost of the station.

Yes, you noticed the frames. The top frame is here to stay because the current song and listener count will be automatically refreshed. So, people can browse, while listening, and still see the song and banner of ad of course.

I think you have a good point though, I am going to make the Highlander Radio shield banner a little smaller - maybe trim 3/4 inch of the top head frame.

Thanks for your suggestions!

Thanks AKLassie! Been working my tail off creating the website. Just when I think I am all set, Dave here gets a wonderful idea that I need to put on the site! :) Dave, you should get a job in marketing!

I suspect that by 1/1/02 we will have the official launch of Highlander Radio. Once we have completed building the site then we can have fun with the broadcast and a whole bunch of fun stuff like promotion items, etc.

We also have not even been actively promoting our website, so it will be interesting what the response is when we do finally start promoting it on major search engines and other means!

Thanks for all of your forum posts. I see that you are a senior clan member now! Way to go

Take care and have a great day!

Bests

MacFive, speaking as a website builder (albeit an amateur builder) I can tell you that your website will never be finished to suit yourself. These things are merely "works in progress." I think rather than waiting for the ultimate website you ought to go ahead and advertise your site just like it is. Then update your site once a week/month or so to keep it fresh, adding more features or dropping others. I think your website, and Scottish2's website are already by far supreme websites!
Of course, this is just my own humble opinion.  :D

Slainte,

Janet

Thanks for all of your kind comments! Very much appreciated.

You have a good point Aklassie, a site is never fully done. Once a month updates sounds like a good way to keep the content fresh. And yes, Dave has a great site there! He has also come up with some great ideas for Highlander Radio.

Welcome cdnmama! Glad to have you about on the forum and thanks for comments!

I think it's something they don't do neither does live 365 I like Win Amp best myself in fact have to reinstall mine haven't had chance on the new system yet just been using it's default which isn't the best player in the world. HP's default that is don't want to mislead anyone.

(xmas) I like the snow and season greetings you've added to the radio site.  It looks good.

Oh also was just looking over the page again and noticed you don't have a listening help for folks having troubles listening to the music like you do on the current site. This would also be a good addition. :)

Just a wee question here folks. On Win Amp I get the name of the station & details of song etc; whereas in IMTuner all I get is the Station name, but no other details...Why :s
