Some people claim that the Native Americans did not originally come across the Bering strait. (not sure if I should post this here or the political forum)
The Bering Strait Myth is not so much science as it is politics.
Much objective modern science in the past several decades
has even suggested that it is highly questionable if there ever
was a so-called 'ice-bridge'. Yes, that's right, from an in-depth,
intensive and non-politically affected scientific study of earth
history, countless scientists (mostly non-American) have
concluded that there most likely never was an 'ice-bridge'!
When I was young, it was '12,000 years ago' when Indians
supposedly migrated over the 'ice-bridge' into this continent.
Over the years, I have watched this number go up from
12,000 years, to 20,000 years, and now in recent print, I
have begun to see the number placed at 30,000 years!
It seems that scientists just move the number back whenever
something Indian is discovered that pre-dates their Bering
Strait migration figure! I can tell you this, science does
not have the market cornered on fact, nor on truth.......
First.... Many Indigenous Nations have calendars which have
been counting the years for a very long time. I am aware that
the calendar of the Mohawk Indian Nation has been counting
the winters for over 33,120 years. This pre-dates the so-called
'ice-bridge' of the Bering Strait theory, unless, of course, the
Bering Strait scientists decide to move the interestingly illusive
time period of our early migration back to 40,000 years!
Many American Indian early histories tell of events that took
place on this Turtle continent (North America) long before any
so-called ice age. But, for political reasons, our histories
have been mostly ignored. You see, the Bering Strait, in truth,
is a theory that was born of the politics and propaganda of
early America. In the midst of the American 'Manifest Destiny'
social climate, the Bering Strait theory provided a 'scientific'
means to justify the taking of ancestral Indian lands. In short,
the mythical theory eased the conscience, as it was a way for
land hungry immigrants to believe that, because Indian people
were only 'recent inhabitants' of this land that it was not our
'homeland'. Therefore we were, in their minds, not any more
the 'original people' in this land than they were. This was, and
still is, the political power of the infamous 'Bering Strait theory'

THis probably would fit best in Science and Philosophy GL. But I am highly interested in the Science of history or more correctly the science that is often absent in history.

Often out children are taught as fact in school things that are only theory that have little or no supporting facts. I personally do not see that it is necessary to have an Ice bridge at the Bering Straight to have a migration to this continent from another. Look at how the Inuit have been able to survive on the Artic Ocean far north of this latitude. In the Winter of any given year it is possible to make this journey across the top of the world. (not by me but I have actually visited these people in 1976 and it was amazing to me how they were able to head out on to the ocean on dog sleds and survive)

I think often in the historic science the magic ingredient of a lot of time is often used to support theories that lack totally in evidence.

Speaking as a person of one of the Algonquin Tribes, (Shawnee and Lenne Lenapee (Delaware)). I know that our Walam Olum (which is our written history that dates back nearly 13,000 years ago) in which at that time we were in Mexico. But according to our History, we originated here on Turtle Island.

Historical evidence finds have found that people was here in the Americas over 100,000 years ago. We do talk of a new people who did come here however about this time when there was supposed to be this land bridge.

I have no reason to believe that there was not more than one Creation.

That's a good point Richard. I'm sure there might have been a land bridge, but if you read the article in the link it says stuff about weather conditions and stuff like that being not right. How the weather would've had to change direction and stuff like that. I'm not sure there was a land bridge, but I am positive native americans originated here in the Americas and not from Russia or Europe.

Green Lady Dragon,

I have read numerous Archeologist's Reports on how we got here. However there are more Archeologists who agree with our history than there use to be.

It is in my belief that they use the Bridge Theory to rectify their coming over here to conquer our Nations. They use the excuse that nobody was here until the Natives came across the bridge to conquer so now they have the right to conquer us. My first question is if the Native People came over to conquer, who did we conquer if nobody was here.

It is also in our History when we were on the East Coast of the Americas that we met a group of People who had come from the Land Bridge and they soon assimilated with us. These People where known as Inu from what is now the Northern Islands of Japan.

Yes, that is what I said, Japan. This is not however saying that all immigration to here via the land bridge was from there, just the People We came in contact with.
