Food Help!, For a tonsillectomy recovery

I am about to undergo a tonsillectomy, and I've been told I can't have solid type foods. Does anyone have any good soup recipes, or mashy foods that I might can have while I am recovering?

I just had my tonsills, uvula and other tissue in my mouth removed 2 weeks ago. I just ate jello, yogurt and gatorade. The first few days I do not thing you will want soup but maybe broth. After a few days you can almost eat normal just need to avoid sharp food.

Ice Cream and more ice cream! Please no, Not the kind with nuts in it!

Thanks Randy. Was the procedure its self terribly painful, or just the recovery? Everyone I talk to says this procedure is worse when you are older, but I don't know.

So Jello and ice cream... sounds like a plan. Maybe some smoothies too...

I had my "polypen" removed when I was little.. you might like semolina as well if you like milky stuff

The procedure was not so bad I guess. I would do it again over either of my knee surgeries. They will give you plenty of drugs if you want in the hospital, but fortunately I did not feel like I needed any of the morphine. I also wanted to go home early and I knew that the pain not being so bad was a major consideration so that factored in.
One think that kinda stunk was they gave my liquid vicidin (spelling), antibiotic, and antinflamitory (Damn I cant spell) and they tasted HORRIBLE (((((.
It is 3 weeks since the surgery and there is basically no pain unlesss I yawn. I just cannot wait for the stitches to go away.
I would not worry about the procedure it will go fine ))

Randy having your tonsils and other throat tissue removed is very painful for an adult. When they take those out there is alot of blood that goes down your throat and most of the time it's not uncommon for the person to throw up after the surgery. The body knows that stuff isn't suppose to be there.
Clear fluids while not the most appealing is really the best in that situation.
The Vicodine is a great pain medicine. It's a derivative of codiene.
