I have this week agreed to participate in a sponsored skydive!!! jawdrop.gif

Those who know me well are fully aware I'm rather scared of heights scared.gif so this is a MASSIVE undertaking for me and it will be a huge personal achievement. It is anticipated it will take place in February. ohmy.gif blink.gif

aww Lynda, that is so sweet! (And a good way to conquer your fear of heights) I totally have faith in you and think you can do it. You have until February to let it sink in. Besides, it always makes people feel better to do something for a good cause clap.gif hug.gif

Congrats, Lynda! Of course, I think you're completely out of your mind biggrin.gif !

What a great cause! Trust me, I couldn't do it, but I'll be pulling for you when you dive. Will there be photos? Love to see them!

Hello Lynda!

I'm guessing that this is your first jump out of a perfectly good airplane, am I right? wink.gif

Seriously, though - I will definitely keep you in my prayers and ask God to bless your jump in every way - from take-off to a gentle-as-a-feather touch-down.

I think you are very brave to do this - and you are doing it for a very good cause!

Bless you!

I don’t think that you’re mad, because I’m one of those people, who, as a child jumped off the garage roof, wearing a bed sheet for a Parr-shoot, and I’m still here. Anyway, I think it’s admirable to jump for such a good cause. Who knows, you might like it. Have a safe landing.

Hey it shouldn't be so bad. But jumping out of a perfectly good airplane is really nuts. But if it's for a good cause - well that can count as some excuse. LOL

Have a good jump. I bet you afterwards you want to do it again and again.

I jumped out of planes in the army for 5 years and I had a lot of buddies that were afraid of heights that did it also. They did fine as you will. It is all perspective, from 850+ feet the altitude makes it not real, but the 34 foot training tower we used would freeze them all up because that is a height that you can wrap your mind around. But with encouragement they did it, after a while easily.
Bless your cause and best of luck.

Wow thank you everyone!!!

Robbie - yes it is the first time I've ever done this unsure.gif

This is what I've been told so far, it's at Errol Airfield just between Dundee and Perth. The Jump is from at least 10,000 feet, freefall down to 5,000 feet - falling through the air at 120 mph!! It is a tandem jump so at least I'll have a qualified instructor strapped safely to my back wink.gif but that does mean I'll have less opportunity to chicken out at the last minute and say no - he'lll just jump and I'll be along for the ride!!! and I'll have a certificate to prove that I did it!!

Eugene - I was speaking to an ex Marine at work and he told me exactly the same thing about perspectives and perception of height. LOL I did make a comment to the organiser saying wouldn't it be particularly cold in February? He laughed and said it's cold up there anyway! laugh.gif

I work for the government and it has been arranged that our internal news magazine will be in attendance on the day with their cameras - so everyone in my department UK wide will be able to read all about it! rolleyes.gif

So far I've got about £145 worth of sponsorship, a great start but I've still have a way to go smile.gif
