Cheers! beer_mug.gif

Thank you all for your kind welcome and your most gentle birthday greetings. The word birthday makes us all think of our very old friend Bilbo, doesn't it? Where's Mr Baggins Senior? Any letter from him lately?

What a pity I haven't got a magic ring... Or have I? Well, there's some sort of invisibility when we're online.

Navajo Nation? That's really great! I've always been particularly fond of the Native American culture. Who would tell, in a Celtic milieu? Nice to meet you!

Let the music flow!

Jorge

There is always a party going on when you are listening to Celtic Radio! smile.gif Enough to make even Bilbo proud!

I'm always amazed with the Celtic - Native American culture. I think there are a great many people of this descent including lots of people not even aware of this connection. For myself, I was lucky enough to have a grandmother who made it a point to tell everyone about this connection. Looking back at old pictures of her and my father (1930s reel), I can see the high cheek bones and clearly Native American features. I just have not been able to identify yet in the historical record where this connection comes from, but I am looking forward to finding it.

Living in a community with names like Massasoit, Ponkapoag, and of course a state called Massachusetts which means "People of the Great Hills" - named so by the Native Americans 10,000 years earlier - I am in the shadow of the Blue Hills just outside of Boston. A very mysterious place stretching 7000 acres which includes very unusual terrain, such as Great Cedar Swamp, Hawk Hill, and of course the Great Blue Hill.

Now I know I am off topic here, but the Blue Hills got its name from European settlers who saw the blue hue from their ships off the coast. The blue hue comes from an element abundant in the Blue Hills called Riebeckite. Isn't it strange that this element is found also in western Scotland where it is prized in its use of curling stones!

Ok, I'll stop now! biggrin.gif

Macfive, that's great to know that you've got Native american blood flowing in your veins. Actually, every legacy we carry should make us all proud - plenty of voices from the past asserting our existence as their beacon carriers.

The Blue Hills... That's a nice name. Someone should write a story taking place there.

Rindy, thanks as well for your welcome. There are certainly great people in this forum. It does really stand apart.
