Nice to be here. I have long been a fan of Celtic music and have recently purchased a Mandolin so I might move into Celtic music rather than just appreciate it from a far. I have played the guitar for over 30 years now, by ear, can't read a note. I have always been drawn to Celtic music so I thought I would give her a whirl. If anyone out there has any tips or help to get me started, I would sure appreciate the help. I have a beginers training book and DVD to get me started but if anyone has some traditional tunes that would be good to start with I'd love it.

Welcome harveysmenkle!!

I love mandolin music and have always been so fascinated by the sound of the double strings. Everyone here is so nice and friendly. I'm sure you'll even find someone to give you pointers on mandolin.
Enjoy the craic and we'll see you around!

Glad you are with us! Welcome from the Navajo Nation in Northern Arizona! I love mandolin music also, even though I listen to it on the Bluegrass side of things most of the time. It's a great instrument. My 10 year old daughter is interested in learning to play it.

Welcome aboard, my friend, and have a great day!

Greetings from Western Canada!

I have absolutely no musical talent - I can barely play the radio! So I'm afraid I'll be of no use to you at all. Sorry about that!

I can, and do, offer a warm welcome to our group. I'm still fairly new here but I love listening to the music while I'm pretending to work. The people are friendly and good hearted & some of the comments in the forums are truly worth reading!

Good luck with the music! note.gif

Greetings,
We used to have a musician show up at Pub Night and he would play the mandolin and then him and his girlfriend broke up and since neither one wanted to create an uncomfortable situation for others they each decided to stop coming and we lost most of our music for the night. sad.gif
Good luck
