As you know, we had sort of a mini fund raiser the last two months. Through donations, CelticRadio.net accounts, advertiser accounts, tartan books and necklaces we were able to raise enough funds to purchase a 120 GB external network drive.
The exact mode is a: XIMETA NetDisk 120GB Portable Storage
This will plug right into our network and allow us to free up alot of space on our radio server so that we will not run out of space. It will also protect us from losing any data since we will be able to back up all of our files on a nightly basis.
So I just want to thank all of the CelticRadio.net members that made this possible.
It all sounds great to me! That's awesome and thank you for your time on this board! It's one of the few websights I remain loyal to, the only community. Thanks again

Always nice to know where the donations go.. Thanks for letting us know!

Where now the horse and the rider? Where is the horn that was blowing? Where is the helm and the hauberk, and the bright hair flowing? Where is the hand on the harpstring, and the red fire glowing? Where is the spring and the harvest and the tall corn growing? They have passed like rain on the mountain, like a wind in the meadow The days have gone down in the West behind the hills into shadow Who shall gather the smoke of the dead wood burning Or behold the flowing years from the Sea returning? ~ J.R.R. Tolkien
The donations have been a great help. I know in the past we have replaced routers, added memory and generally done things to make the site and broadcast better.
Our biggest expense comes in February 2005 when we need to renew out license fees and royalty payments. This will cost about $800, and it could be more if they go up. Hopefully by then we will have Tshirts to sell and other things that will make up most of this cost.

Dear Lord, lest I continue in my complacent ways, help me to remember that someone died for me today. And if there be war, help me to remember to ask and to answer "am I worth dying for?" - Eleanor Roosevelt
The ultimate result of shielding men from the effects of folly is to fill the world with fools. -- Herbert Spencer, English Philosopher (1820-1903)
What would I get if I donated a server grade hard drive ? I have one here, just lying around & collecting dust.

May the Irish hills caress you. May her lakes and rivers bless you. May the luck of the Irish enfold you. May the blessings of Saint Patrick behold you.
How many gigabytes is it? I am worried about the radio server hard drive because it has been going none stop for 3 years now. I thought of replacing just that hard drive, but then I thought it would be better if I get a back-up device to store all the music files on - then if it goes I always have a backup instead of reindexing 500? CDs?
The new portable back-up storage arrived today and we have installed it on our network.
A complete back-up of all of our song files was made early in the evening. We needed to take the broadcast offline for about an hour while all of the files were copied over. This is the first time we have backed up all of our song files because we just did not have the room before.
We also backed up the database and site as well as a ton of other important files.
Thanks again to CelticRadio.net member's donations, subscriptions and purchases that made this possible.

Savin' for that rainy day when it comes . . . .
Now if anything does bump in the night or the Leprechauns start, CR will be OK!
Yes, that is the next step which for that I might get a DVD re-writable to store it all on 2 disks. The DVD rewritable I will pay for that out of my pocket, since that it will have other uses greater than the every so often back-ups.
But I will have copies placed at my mothers house and in my car - you know just in case of fire!
