Ireland, Haunted castles to stay at in west

Anyone know much about interesting places to stay in western Ireland, actually, above Shannon, I'm going back again, and want to see some of the sacred spots and such, haunted castles, good music, etc.

When I was over in April, we passed Clonony Castle, near Shannon Harbor, Co. Offaly. Stopped and talked with the new owners, who just moved back from the U.S. They said they were going to restore the castle and open it for tours but it was going to take some time to do that. Clonony Castle is supposed to be the most haunted castle in Ireland.

The picture of Clonony Castle on the above web page, does not look anything like what it looks like today. A good portion of the castle has fallen down.

My son spent his honeymoon in Ireland over Christmas. He stayed in Doolin for a couple of days. Well known for Trad music and there is always someone plying in the pubs in town. He stayed in a B & B there and the hostess was fantastic. Let me know if you want more info and I'll get it for you.

They also stayed in Adare at a really nice hotel. I believe it was Dunraven Arms. Of course, you could get adventurous and stay on one of the Aran Islands.

Yeah, let me know, that would be great, I'm planning on staying in that area the first night, since it's close to Shannon airport and your pretty wiped out the first day there. I definitly want to hear as much traditional music therre as I can.

If you want to hear traditional music in the pubs, you need to head up to Galway and get on the N-84, go through Shrule and follow that road up to Westport. You won't have a hard time finding a pub that has the locals just hanging out playing and having a good time.

Plenty of B&B's in the area also.

I would love to take some time and visit down your way and the Inn looks like a great way to do that. Can't wait to see it completed and open for business.

Scared!!!! My own house had more ghosts then the castles in Ireland I bet!!
We should have had you sleep in our cellar and seen if you could have made it the night.

Were going to be staying the night in Doolin in May, at a B&B called Cullinanas, or something like that, hopefully it's nice.
I would like to stay a night on the Aran Islands, have you been to them all?

Hopefully, we will be open by late September, early October. We walk the property with the contractor and excavator this weekend and mark out where the house will be built. Still need to get a few of the permits and bids in place and after that, we can break ground. Keep checking the Gallery on the web page. We will be adding more pictures of the construction in progress.


As for the Aran Islands, I have a bunch of pictures on the CR Gallery, under the Ireland section. If you need a list of B&B's on Inishmore, I can get that for you. Also, I can hook you up with a top notch and fun guy to meet you at the docks and take you around in his jaunting car. Let me know what you need.

I like the Jaunting car ride! It was one of the best parts of the trip!

Only because George and I were gentlemen. You and Shelly proved what prisses you were by staying in the cart while that poor horse was near collapsing. And, you continued to throw more rocks into the car and make it even heavier for the poor horse.

Yeah, that would be great, I want to go for a jaunting car ride!!
