O'siyo, Okay everyone I have a question~ An O'ginalli sent me a blank check and wants me to go and buy myself 'something nice' is what they said~ Do you all think there is a proper etiquette for this scenario? Meaning should there be a limit on how much one spends? Financially this person is well off but, does that mean I should spend mucho dollars or keep it simple? I guess flying to New York to purchase an Orange County Chopper is out of the question? Would love everyone's input on this..Ni Ya We~ ~~Sty-U
Hi Freekenny,
I would ask the person. That way there is no guilt if you spend plenty.... Must be nice!!!

That does sound like an interesting decision, and why I wouldn't want someone to hand me a blank check like that. As you mentioned, a new bike or a trip would be out of the question. Too much. Your friend must have a lot of trust in your judgement to have handed you a blank check. At the same time, if they said to get yourself something nice, they're probably not expecting just any $10. I'd figure to look for something that's just at the margin where you'd normally have to worry about if you had enough immediately on hand. That way you should be able to, if nothing else, let them help you. I wouldn't try writing it for more than $100 at the absolute maximum. If what you find costs more than that, pay for the rest yourself and let your friend help out...
I would buy something that doesn't cost too much, but you've had your eye on for a while.
And yes, I think a chopper built by Big Paul & the OCC guys would be out of the question ...
Today, I went downtown to apply for jobs at Carson Pirie Scott and Marshall Field's (two of the big department stores in Chicago-I know they'll be hiring seasonal help soon), so I paid to take a public transit train (one of the stops is basically in Marshall Field's basement) to and from downtown. Also, I had a four cheese individual pizza and a Coke for lunch in Field's basement. They have a food court down there. The prices there are pretty good for downtown.

A couple of months ago husband and I purchased a 2005 Suzuki Boulevard. I was a little doubtful at first but now I'm glad we did it. It's something that both hubby and I like to do. WE have already put over 4000 miles on it. We're planning a trip next week-end if the weather is ok.I can't wait til the week-ends come and we put on our leather and cruise around. Not many days until it's put up for it's winter rest.
Now there's no money to buy presents for the family for the holidays!
Maggie that is just so awesome you guys go and cruise around the countryside on that thing. Sounds like a wonderful way to spend a day.
I bought myself at the Georgia State Fair held annually here in Perry, Ga I bought myself and hubby a corndog and coke.
Then I bought a big bag of Kettle corn. When I asked for a big bag the guy handed me what he called a large bag and I just stood there and whinned and told him at the Renisannce Fair their big bag was a really big bag and this was such a small bag. I Did stand there smiling while I whined. He gave me another bag....wasn't that sweet!
Then on the way out I had Apple dumpling and ice cream and a diet coke.
Then when I got home I had 3 Rolaids!
Yummy! Yep I had a great time at the fair tonight. Looked at the hot tubs and was ready to put my undefined down to buy one......I don't think he was too impressed with my idea. I don't understand why not. I already had the guy coming down on the price and then more off if he sold me the floor model.

O'siyo, ~ Well, I wrote out the check for a reasonable amount and I did what I wanted to do with the money I don't need anything and really I don't want anything right now so why waste the money on 'something' just to say I bought 'something'? ~I wrote the check out for the amount of $100..I donated $50 to the local food bank, donated $25 to the Humane Society and donated the other $25 to Hospice ~~Sty-U, may you be blessed with all that Mother Earth has to offer
freekenny, you are more reserved than I am. You are right, though, the gift was a tough one to deal with.
I don't buy things for myself (other than a little beer once a week). My joy is buying nice things for my owner. I deal with gift giving for her by taking her shopping and letting her pick out whatever she wants. On Mother's day, we did shoe shopping. She not only got the joy of the shoes, but the fun of shopping for them as well.

O'siyo maisky, ~ Question? Are there any more of you lil' darlins left from your litter? Now why can't everyone be like you when it comes to gift giving? ~~Sty-U

There's a dear little plant that grows in our Isle Twas St . Patrick himself, sure, that set it; And the sun of his labour with pleasure did smile, And with dew from his eye often wet it. It grows through the bog, through the brake, through the Mireland, and they call it the dear little shamrock of Ireland.
Okay, don't laugh! I bought myself a Scottish Barbie doll on eBay...............dangerous place for me! She was part of dolls around the world series in 1990. I have Barbies from England, Ireland and now Scotland. Just need one from Wales now!
We had to buy a new fridge this weekend... I hate that -- Not!! I love it !!! Lots of space in it and ice & water from the door It barely fit in the space we had. Hubby had to take the trim off the door facing to get it in there.
