I found this song on a CD by a Celtic Christian group called Edensbridge. The symbolic words move me every time I hear them, and I thought you might like it too.

Here's how I veiw the symbolism:
Stones - mundane pursuits of life
Seashore - life itself
Sea - God
Wind - the Holy Spirit

See if you agree!

Stones and Sea

In the beginning,
I was counting the stones on the seashore,
Looking for the precious ones.
Among the stones, I found many pretty things
While the sea rolled on beside me all the time.

Time moved on.
I had collected many stones 'til I tired of them,
And I think they tired of me.
Some were lovely, but I was never satisfied,
And the sea rolled on beside me all the time.

And the wind rose, east and cold.
Whisp'ring sweetly to my soul.
And it said "look you fool,
You are missing precious things:
Raise your eyes and look towards the sea."

So I looked:
It was as if I saw the sea for the first time,
And it's power captured me.
All the time I had wasted seeking stones,
I had missed the rolling glory of the sea.

And the sea
Devoured a mighty swathe of heart, overwhelmed me
In a way I couldn't know,
And the price for the love of greater things
Was surrender to the great and cruel sea.

And it stole me, and I feared the aching sea,
It consumed me, drowned my mind.
The wind said "Look, you fool, No matter what you do,
You can't contain the ocean like a stone."

I like it. Love to hear the music that goes with the words.

Shall Renew Their Strength,
They Shall Mount Up With Wings
As Eagels,
They Shall Run,
And Not Be Werry;
They Shall Walk,
And Not Faint." ISAIAH 40:31

Hi aklassie!

The song is very nice! I just did some looking aroung on the internet. I couldn't find the entire song, but if you go to amzaon.com, do a search for Eden's Bridge, and go to the album called "Celtic Worship" you can hear a snippett of the song. It's called Stones and Sea.

Also found another clip here:

Thanks, I'll check it out. If I like it on amazon.com I'll more than likely buy it.
I don't have enough Celtic worship songs. I do have a wonderful CD that has allot of the hymns that we got from Ireland. When I worked at a preschool a few years ago, I'd always play it at nap time. Children went to sleep and I got to worship alittle. It was nice.

I like what I heard. I'm going to buy it and also Celtic Psalms. There's others I'd like to get later.

Here I am! biggrin.gif I LOVE Eden's Bridge! I have that song, Stones and Sea, on one of my Eden's Bridge CDs. It is called "The Best of Celtic Praise and Worship." It is a wonderful CD. I also have "Celtic Psalms" by them and one other that I cannot remember the name of right now. I really love their music a lot and the I love the lead singer's voice especially!

you would probably love their music too, AKlassie! Let me know what you think when you get some of their CDs.
