Celtic Radio Community > Kirk and Chapel > A Prayer For My New Baby

Posted by: Nova Scotian 22-May-2007, 10:11 AM
My wife had to have emergency c-section last Thursday and gave birth to a baby boy. Everything went great. What deserves praise is that the emergency happened while in labor at the hospital. They noticed fetal distress on the monitor and when they checked for dilation they discovered prolapse cord. I praise God that it happened in the hospital and her Doctor was in house. I'm just praying for my wifes full recovery and for the baby to continue to be healthy. Both are home now from the hospital and doing very well so far.

Congraulations Nova Scotia
Welcome to earth little one.
Your wife and little one will do well. With my third, the doctor saw fetal distress on the monitor and said we need to take him right away. We found out he had the cord wrapped around his neck twice and if the doctor hadn't taken him when he did, my little one would have most likely had cerebral palsy like me or worse. Four of our 5 children were born c-section.
Your wife will be sore for a while as she heals so treat her gentle. But they will be fine. May your little one grow strong and learn great wisdom. May the angels watch over and keep you and your family always.

(Why is it that I think everyone here is as old as I am, or am I just older then I think?)

I guess the cord being rapped around babies necks is pretty common, because my daughter had the same problem.

Anyway, well done Doc, and of course… you too Nova.

Actually what prolapse core is, is when the cord starts to present first before the baby. I've seen it in the field where the cord is actually all they way out and there was also limb presention. Now that was VERY serious! Our sons cord presented through the cervix and his head was pressing on the cord occluding the blood flow so he had to be taken right away.

I just want to pass on that the little one is doing great. His big sister just loves him as well as his parents. After talking with a doctor about the birth, I was told that thank God it happened at the hospital when it did because he could have been still born or suffered brain damage. A few folks said that my wife should not have asked to be induced that day. They were thinking that the induction is what caused it but not a single person in the obstectricts field of medicine agrees with them. All I can do is praise the Lord for him arriving healthy.
