Let us know what family names you need help with and those of us who do this type of things will put in whatever we can find.
I have direct access to the Washington Memorial Library for records in all 50 states.
Those interested let me know...

Annabelle, That was fast. thumbs_up.gif Did you see me just suggest it?

I may not be able to help much when it comes to research over the pond. But I could be of some assistance when it comes to the States, I have been working on Geneology for 18 1/2 years. I would be glad to help any way I can.

Richard, you are a God Sent blessings!
The research is great here but we need other's there if we can connect! Yes, I saw your postings and thought I would suggest it too. Since I'm close to the best Library I thought I'd offer help to all.

I have a name an a half for anyone. Some say that the name is Scots, I have no idea. The family is found in (West) Virginia 1850's to present. It is Kintyhtt. I know of Daniel (Father) - Leroy (Son) - Leovina (daughter). Leroy married Sarah Kuhn in Greene County PA. and Leoviana married Sarah's father Joseph. The Kintyhtt family ended up in WV just south of Greene. If anyone can help me, not only with the family, but the origin of this name, it would be greatly appreciated.

I've printed up the info everyone has sent to me...I am off on Monday's and I'll go up to Macon to the Library and do the searches...
I hope I'll come up with something useful
Right now I have Elspeth's info and Barddas's and will start on those...I may have to ask for more info later, but I'll let you know.
Do you prefer the info back by E-mail (which is a little more private) or just post?
Let me know,
Annabelle

Make sure you always include:
Full Name
Birthd Date
Death Date if you know it
County
State
Year
Their father & Mother if you know it (this helps when you start getting repeated names but different ages,
Thanks,

I know that Samuel established a tavern in 1761.
his second eldest son James, laid out the town with 210 lots and town square, in 1786....

That was the basic layout for Gettysburg.

Thanks again,

Hi Aventar, Our local library has a genealogy room and has quite a bit of info on different surnames in WV. Soon as I get some extra time, I'll do some research on your Kintyhtt family name. I live in WV so maybe I can come up with something for ya. biggrin.gif

I think it's great for us to get on the band wagon to help get info for each other. This should be fun!

Hi Gang

Was talking to another member this morning and they suggested a genealogy forum be set up so I have gone ahead and suggested to Paul that when he gets time he set up a new topic which has several sub categories relating to genealogy one being a general category for general tips and chit chat and then a category for each of the cultures in the Celtic relm to help keep each culture separated and make it easier to discuss a specific topic in more detail. smile.gif

Great Idea! That will help keep information from getting mixed up....

Thanks

You can thank Catriona for that she saw a growing need for such a topic. But Paul will have to set that up. smile.gif

My suggestion (based on much experience on other Gen fora) was that there should be a general gen fora - for those countries where people who are searching are living now - ie USA, Canada, Aus, NZ or SA....

Then an area for each of the following groups Irish/Scots/Welsh/English- with maybe Cornish as a subsection.

There is absolutely no use posting in say, the Irish or Scots section until you have traced your ancestry back to a Scot or an Irishman..... biggrin.gif I know absolutely nothing about US genealogy - or how your records are stored etc - but I know a lot about British history..... But only from a Scottish perspective.

BTW Annabelle - did you mean 'step' names or sept names? biggrin.gif wink.gif
