depends on:

- where you are
- how much can you afford (there are online courses available)
- how serious you are
- access to online for chats, skypes, fora, etc pp.

Ann Arbor Michigan, hmmm yeap join ACGA because they conduct workshops and immersion weekends which are very helpful and they have list of self study groups too. Michael McKay is chair and teaching online (skype) too.

Good links for self-help:
http://www.akerbeltz.org/

http://www.gaeliccollege.edu/index.html
also offers an online course

for selfstudies and for free:
http://www.taic.btinternet.co.uk/

and most importantly:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/scotland/alba/
for listening and BBC's Beag air Bheag and the famous litirs for you litir beag.
