Don't know why I'm having trouble spelling fichead lately? |
Posted by: GunChleoc 07-Mar-2008, 12:52 AM | ||
12 dà dheug 134 ceud fichead 's a trì deug: ceud fichead = 100 x 20 = 20 000 ceud 's fichead = 100 + 20 = 120 Co-dhiù, saoilidh mi gu bheil ceud 's trì deug air fhichead nas cumanta. 53 leth-cheud 's a trì 92 = ceithir fichead 's a dhà dheug 64 = trì fichead 's a ceithir 77 = trì fichead 's a seachd deug 541 = còig ceud 's a dhà fhichead 's a h-aon 1066 = mìle 's trì fichead 's a sia 2008 = dà mhìle 's a h-ochd 71 17 25 94 2009 3333 |

May I join? I really need to practice my numbers. I hope you don't mind if I practice both systems were applicable. 71 trì fichead 's a h-aon/seachdad 's a h-aon 17 seachd deug 25 cìog air fhichead 94 ceithir fichead 's a còig deug/naochad 's a còig 2009 dà mhile 's a naoi 3333 trì mile, trì ceud, deich air fhichead 's a trì/trì mile, trì ceud, trithead 's a trì That makes me feel like I'm back in grade school! Mar sin an-dràsta: 68 414 220 55 1101 945 dà cheud 's a h-aon deug ochd ceud deug naoi mile deug, trì ceud 's a deich leth-cheud 's a sia aon mile deug, ceud, 's a h-ochd tri fichead 's a dhà dheug |

Seo na fhuair mise: 71 trì fichead 's a h-aon deug 94 ceithir fichead 's a ceithir deug 3333 trì mìle trì cheud 's a trì deug air fhichead Chan eil mi ag ionnsachadh na h-àireamhan ùra agus chan eil fios agam ma bhios na rinn thu ceart. Agus na h-àireamhan agadsa: 68 - trì fichead 's a h-ochd 414 - ceithir cheud 's a ceithir deug 220 - dà cheud 's fichead 55 - dà fhichead 's a còig deug no leth-cheud 's a còig 1101 - mìle, ceud 's a h-aon 945 - naoi ceud, dà fhichead 's a còig dà cheud 's a h-aon deug - 211 ochd ceud deug - ?? naoi mile deug, trì ceud 's a deich ?? + 310 leth-cheud 's a sia - 56 aon mile deug, ceud, 's a h-ochd - ?? tri fichead 's a dhà dheug - 72 You can only have 1-9 before deug. It's like English -teen: fourteen, fifteen, but not hundredteen or thousandteen. And for 20, 100 and 1000, you simply say fichead, ceud, mìle and not aon fhichead, aon cheud, aon mhìle. BTW: aon lenites, you just don't see it with aon deug, because d doesn't lenite after n. Agus seo àireamhan ùra dhuibh: 59 354 2222 81 13 815 |

OK, here is where I got those: According to Everyday Gaelic, you can say "naoi ceud deug" for 1900 and so forth. On http://www.akerbeltz.org/beagangaidhlig/gramar/grammar_numeralsnewold.htm (scroll down to the bottom segment) he gives this as an example: 16,745 = sia mìle deug, seachd ceud, ceathrad is a cóig It makes sense to me. |
