Got about 8 inches of snow the last 2 days out in central Massachusetts. Mostly light snow the last day or so and then last night it came down pretty good.
Boston got about 15 inches and right around Boston for over 20.
Temp is 3 degrees right now.

How about where you are?

Posted by: munchkin5450 03-Jan-2014, 07:43 AM
I live in a northwestern suburb of Chicago. We got a total of 15" over the previous 2 days. Temp when I got up this morning was 0. We are projected to get a couple more inches of snow tomorrow and have a -8 high temperature on Monday!

What I want to know is when I moved to the Arctic!!! LOL

Stay warm & dry.

Posted by: WallaceGal 03-Jan-2014, 09:05 AM
SE Michigan here. We got about 8" in my area. This morning, it was -13 on the DH's drive in to work. Right now, it's 10am est, -3 and sunny. Go figure. Oh, and windy! And starting Saturday, we're supposed to get another 8-10 inches of snow by Monday morning when the high for the day will be 4.

So glad I took these two days off work to finish the holidays. I'm sitting in front of the fireplace keeping my toes warm!

Posted by: ogdenmusic 04-Jan-2014, 12:32 PM
Cloudy and 40 here in the Raleigh, NC area. No Snow!

Posted by: Séreméla 04-Jan-2014, 09:26 PM
My weather can be easily summed into one word: HORRID! We been in the negatives for the past few days with 5" snow and getting more here tonight or tomorrow. I don't remember it might be an extra 4-6" currently got a winter storm warning. So, yes.. Horrible.

Forgot to mention thats Indiana for you. Weather change every 5 seconds as we love to say.

Posted by: munchkin5450 06-Jan-2014, 07:50 AM
Here in the northwest suburbs of Chicago we are at -15 with a nasty wind chill since the wind is gusting to around 25 mph or so. Only supposed to be to -9 for a high. I don't remember a winter like this since the early 80's. Stay warm fellow midwesterners!!

Posted by: Séreméla 06-Jan-2014, 12:58 PM
I'm under a state of emergency as of yesterday evening. No one is allowed to drive (pretty much to sum it up, leave their homes) unless under an emergency. Enjoying another day at home *sarcasm* I think outside we might have 12"+ of snow.

@Munchkin thank you, am trying. Got -12 with wind chill of -40 according to weather channel. That channel right now is my best friend literally xD Plus video games as well. I am so thankful that the cities are doing everything they can do for us. You stay warm too!

We here in Upper Michigan will finally start to get out of our cold snap when we reach a high temp of 2 on wednesday. Sunday and yesterday were the worst with a -26 and the wind chill pretty much doubling that. Only problems I had were my daughter's truck which has been in the shop for two weeks waiinfg for a part so we have had to share a vehicle between three members of the family within a 20 mile radius. Then Sunday was double trouble. First, I ended up with a sidewall flat but it was a slow leak and I keep a air compresser in the car so that worked out untill I was able to get a new tire. Then the belt on the furnace blower broke on Sunday around 8 pm (when else?) but we got some one to come over pretty much right away and fix it. Still some more work to do on it but at least it's warm in the house. I will be picking up an extra belt for just such emergencies form now on. Saturday its suppose to get up to 30 degrees and everyone in town is looking forward to it. Maybe a beach party on the shores of Lake Superior!

Posted by: Séreméla 09-Jan-2014, 12:34 AM
Ooooo'... 30 degrees, I wish we had that at this point. Got into the single digits but still have those pest of a negative wind chills. I envy that 30 right now.

Posted by: munchkin5450 09-Jan-2014, 07:39 AM
The Chicago area is about to break out of the sub-zero temperature zone. Woo-Hoo!!!!! It was only -6 this morning with very little wind and we are supposed to get all the way to 25. "WE'RE HAVING A HEAT WAVE...A TROPICAL HEAT WAVE" as the song says!! Hope you guys will be joining us soon... cool.gif

Posted by: togo 12-Jan-2014, 07:06 AM
Odd it as almost 60 degrees yesterday, with rain, but the next few days are supposed to be in the 40/50's. The rollercoaster continues but in a good way now!

Posted by: dalern63 19-Jan-2014, 10:32 PM
temps in 10's low in negs all week!!!! not including wind chill

Posted by: Robert Phoenix 20-Jan-2014, 05:21 PM
Heading back into the Polar Vortex! Not as bad as the last one. This one is only suuppose to last untill Thrusday and then its gone. Three or four days of cold I can handle but not two or three weeks of it. At least the furnace is up and running correctly now.

Posted by: CelticRadio 20-Jan-2014, 06:11 PM
Back to winter here in Massachusetts. It was very evident Saturday as the rain turned to snow on Sunday. Now there is talk of a storm for the Northeast mid week.

Winter Fun! biggrin.gif

Posted by: togo 05-Feb-2014, 09:41 AM
12 inches of snow so far today in Massachusetts. Not ready to attack the driveway just yet. Think I'll have another cup of coffee before the battle begins.
Looks nice though.

Posted by: WallaceGal 05-Feb-2014, 09:56 AM
My five minute ride into work took me 40 minutes this morning because people are idiots. Michigan. Gotta love it.

Posted by: Shadows 05-Feb-2014, 01:31 PM
Ice, Ice , Ice!

My idiot brother and one sister are driving a rented truck ( should have rented it up there ) to NH today from MD. ! Hope they make it!

Posted by: munchkin5450 06-Feb-2014, 07:53 AM
I hope they make it too. Driving a rental truck when you're not used to trucks is a challenge all by itself.....to do it in icy conditions seems like an accident waiting to happen.

Weather in Chicago area is cold in a word. Right now it's 3 with sub-zero wind chills. Supposed to be in the 20's tomorrow with.......you guessed it.........more snow! Only a couple of inches this time. I'd really like to get off this merry-go-round sometime soon.

Stay warm, safe & dry everyone!

Posted by: j Padraig moore 07-Feb-2014, 11:08 AM
Around -6 F at my house this morning.

Posted by: WallaceGal 07-Feb-2014, 11:30 AM
It's made it to 6 here and it's 12:30est. Brrr!

Posted by: Robert Phoenix 08-Feb-2014, 06:44 PM
Starting to get a little warmer here but it still tends to stay below 20 degrees during the day and below 0 at night. Lake Superior is now completely frozen over so maybe I can walk to Canada now. Hey Wallace gal you might like this video

Another 6-12 inches of snow expected here for the day. School called off again. Snow blower all gassed up.
Ho-hummm.........

Did the Ground Hog see his shadow or not????

Posted by: WallaceGal 13-Feb-2014, 07:07 AM
I don't remember which is which, but there's supposed to be six more weeks of winter so does that mean he didn't see his shadow? Seems to me that's the way it should be but I thought it was the opposite.

I don't know, we're supposed to get another 3-6 here tomorrow. A minor squall...

Posted by: Shadows 13-Feb-2014, 07:12 AM
Yes he saw his shadow!

22°F here with snow coming down heavy, can't tell how much we have recieved because it is blowing around. Have a 3 foot drift right out my back door.
Going to sit by the woodstove and watch it come down.

Posted by: munchkin5450 13-Feb-2014, 07:54 AM
I'd love to be sitting in front of a wood-burning fireplace right about now....curled up with my book and a nice, hot cup of tea or cocoa. A mulled wine might be nice although 7:45 AM is probably too early for that! LOL

Woke up to 19 degrees in the Chicagoland area. Feelin' like spring!! Wonder how long before the bottom drops out again??

Posted by: macaonghais 15-Feb-2014, 10:38 AM
In western Minnesota, we got about an inch of snow in the last couple of days. The good news is that we are up to 19 degrees this morning. Finally getting temps above zero!

Posted by: MacFive 15-Feb-2014, 11:37 AM
Coast of Massachusetts, expecting a blizzard today but never know if these weathermen (or girls) got it right.

Has anyone noticed that most of the weather forcasters are girls now a days, except for Al Roker! biggrin.gif

Posted by: togo 18-Feb-2014, 04:20 PM
A mere dusting today, 3 inches in central Massachusetts.
50's by the weekend! Bring on some melting!

Posted by: WallaceGal 18-Feb-2014, 08:29 PM
We managed 6 inches between 7 last night and about 2 this morning. It was coming an inch an hour for a bit. Today, it was 36 out so of course, things started melting like mad. We're supposed to have thunderstorms Thursday and 45 degrees then back into the single digits next week so all this melting stuff will be a solid sheet of ice. I'm getting a little tired of snow. And cold. And ice. And I never thought I'd say that...

Posted by: MacFive 18-Feb-2014, 08:32 PM
Someone please stop the snow and frigid weather! biggrin.gif

Posted by: ryansgirl 20-Feb-2014, 12:06 AM
what snow and frigid weather? Here in Florida it is in the 70's and 80's. I'll try to send some warmer weather your way. Stay safe and keep warm.

Posted by: munchkin5450 20-Feb-2014, 07:54 AM
Those of us in the Chicago area would really like that, Ryansgirl. Right now it is 34 but it's a rain, sleet mix that is supposed to be here all day. With all the snow we've had, they are warning about flooding......could this be spring? cool.gif

Posted by: Robert Phoenix 23-Feb-2014, 08:25 PM
Made it through another piece of winter ugliness this weekend and are currently heading into another week of frozen. Even the ice caves up here were shut down for the weekend. Brrrr. I need some warmth! I wonder (and kind of hope) that our summer will be a summer like this winter has truly been a winter.

Posted by: munchkin5450 24-Feb-2014, 07:51 AM
Whatever the summer is like, I just hope it gets here soon! The couple of 50 degree days were just a mean tease! Stay warm, Robert!!

Posted by: camac 19-Mar-2014, 03:18 PM

For the past two days we have finally had temps on the plus side. Yesterday 4C. To-day 6C. Almost bikini weather, rolleyes.gif

Posted by: WallaceGal 19-Mar-2014, 04:29 PM
IT GOT TO 50 TODAY!!! *happy dance*

Of course, it poured all day too, but at least it wasn't snow!

Posted by: togo 20-Mar-2014, 04:44 AM
The first day of SPRING!
Hopefully ending the winter that will never end. I still look out the window and see some snow on the ground but it is raining! RAIN, I never thought I'd be so happy to see rain!

Posted by: camac 20-Mar-2014, 07:26 AM
First day of spring and up here in the GREAT WHITE NORTH it can't make up its' mind whether to snow or rain. my vote is for rain. There is to much of that disgusting white stuff on the ground.

Posted by: camac 21-Mar-2014, 08:22 AM
To-day is a nice early spring day and should be enjoyed because to-night an Alberta Clipper is coming bring Freezing Rain and Snow. That is according to the Weather Channel but they are usually wrong. OH COME THE SPRING.

Posted by: camac 23-Mar-2014, 07:22 AM
It is 9:20 on a beautiful Sun, morn the 3rd day of spring and the temp is -9C or roughly 16 F. with snow forecasted for this afternoon.

Posted by: WallaceGal 23-Mar-2014, 07:52 AM
Bright and sunny here, but only 18. A low of 12 tonight and we're getting our snow Monday evening through Wednesday. So much for spring.

Posted by: camac 23-Mar-2014, 09:55 AM
I swear to by all the Gods that this winter will never end. It will last a I,000,000 years.

Posted by: Keltic 23-Mar-2014, 10:13 AM
Yesterday, day two of "spring", we had white out conditions here in Ottawa. I took a picture with my phone and sent it to my daughter, showing her what she is missing. She sent back a picture a view of the ocean from her home in Panama City, Panama. This weekend, she is at a beach house on an island in the Pacific. I guess my wife and I raised a child to be a hell of a lot smarter than us!

Posted by: togo 24-Mar-2014, 05:03 AM
Someone much smarter than me may be able to answer this: has the earth axis tilted more, less, changed?? Has the earth's spin slowed down, sped up??
In the past few years November/December seemed to be..... less harsh and March lately..... stinks!

This weekend 50's.
Today 20's.
Wednesday, possible Nor'easter (big snow storm).

Posted by: camac 24-Mar-2014, 07:46 AM
Togo;

No I don't think the axis has changed nor have we slowed down. Your lucky you should have been here in Nov. & Dec. and witnessed the prelude to the Harshest coldest winter we have had in 30 years and it ain't done yet . It is now 9:42 a.m. and we are at the high for the day -4c or 25F. Suns shining but it is cold. We are getting hit with the North wind coming right of the Polar cap. Old Boreas musty be laughing his butt off. lol.gif

Posted by: camac 30-Mar-2014, 04:37 PM
SPRING HAS SPRUNG THE GRASS IS GREEn. PERTIEST SIGHT I EVER SEEN.

Problem is it ain't up here yet.

Posted by: togo 30-Mar-2014, 05:02 PM
About a week ago I said I was so happy to see rain.
Ok after 3 straight days of it I've had it with that as well.
I know there is a Spring out there somewhere.
SUN, that's what we need.
Maybe if we all can come up with some songs that have the word "sun" in it, Spring and warm weather will be close behind!

"The Sun will come out tomorrow....."

Posted by: camac 31-Mar-2014, 07:56 AM
To-day will be a high of 10C or 50F to-morrow calls for snow. This winter will never end.

Posted by: camac 05-Apr-2014, 09:12 AM
It has been rather balmy the last 3 days only to wake up this morning with the temp heading for the basement and the wind blowing cold. Right now it is +1C with a wind chill of -7+C. I am really starting to detest winter. thumbdown.gif thumbdown.gif thumbdown.gif

It's a balmy 25 in the Chicago area after 1-2" of snow late yesterday afternoon and evening. Only supposed to get to about 37 today. At least it's supposed to be sunny. They say it should be around mid 50's for Wednesday & Thursday. I won't hold my breath though 'cause it can change in an instant! Have a wonderful day, all!!

We got slamed with snow. 50-60 inches in three days two weeks ago. Another 18 this last week on Monday with light snow the reast of the time. Total snow for first two weeks of winter is 67 inches. We got tired off it and sent everything to the east coast. Having fun Buffalo? Welcome to our world! But its nice now and the temps in the 40's again so some of it has melted. Looks like normal winter weather after the mini heat wave this weekend. More snow on Wednesday.

Posted by: ryansgirl 23-Nov-2014, 11:58 PM
Saturday and Sunday was in the 70's but come Thanksgiving day it will be getting colder here in Florida.

@Robert Phoenix I hope it gets warmer real soon for you. In the mean time enjoy the days off from work. That goes for the rest of you with snow.

Maybe someone will have a white Christmas this year.

Posted by: Robert Phoenix 30-Nov-2014, 03:03 PM
Up to 91 inches so far. Good news for the snowmobilers and the skiers this year. Hunting season hasn't been all that great this yerar though. Alot of people are blaming the growing wolf population.

17 Degrees in Boston, MA and going down to 0 tonight I heard. Just cold cold cold with a dusting of snow everywhere.

Posted by: WallaceGal 07-Jan-2015, 06:43 AM
7 degrees, feels like -8 with wind chills in the -20's. Welcome to Michigan. And it's going to be like that till next week...

And can someone explain to me why, when it's this cold out, people leaving my building have to stand at the front door holding it open and talking? I'm a lowly admin now, I sit in front of that door and it's like they're trying to see how solid I can freeze before they shut the door! Asking them to close it does no good either.

Posted by: munchkin5450 07-Jan-2015, 06:44 AM
Chicago area is cuurent at 1 with 20 mph wind for a wind chill of -26. It's supposed to be colder tomorrow with an actual temp of -12 and wind chills to -40. It's time to retire and move west!

Got some snow, but the cold & wind is the worst in Ohio.

Posted by: WallaceGal 09-Jan-2015, 07:19 PM
We got three inches of snow overnight and the high today was 9. Blowing wind with 25mph gusts meant all that snow managed to drift and pile on the roads. The main expressway I take to work was a solid sheet of ice this morning. But hey! The sun was out for all of 20 minutes this afternoon!

*sigh*

Posted by: Robert Phoenix 11-Jan-2015, 07:19 PM
Made it through the worst of it with no frozen pipes or any other calamities. Should be starting to warm up again this coming week and the days are starting to get longer agaqin. Time to kilt up again!

Posted by: togo 27-Jan-2015, 08:40 AM
It's funny how I only post bad weather in this thread........
However we got a good amount of snow last night in Massachusetts.
Got up at 1:00am to try to be ahead of the storm to snow blow. Only about 4 inches then.
Got up this morning at 7:am. 2 FEET AND 30-40 mile an hour winds!
So much for staying ahead of the storm.
So I went outside ready for battle. And then for the first 10 minutes I forgot one of the golden rules while snow blowing: DO NOT FIGHT AND GO AGAINST THE WIND...... USE THE WIN TO YOUR ADVANTAGE! frusty.gif
Supposed to snow all day now. We got plenty of food (still scarred after our Blizzard of 78) and plenty of beer.
Getting ready to go out and play in the snow with my daughter and snow blow again.

Give me spring please!

[SIZE=7]Sorry TOGO and KINGARTHUR but I'm really, really glad I don't live on the east coast right now. The Chicago area weather has settled down after that blast of polar vortex weather a month or so ago. At the risk of jinxing myself, we haven't had more than a couple of inches of snow at a time. Granted we've had some rain/snow mix but all in all things haven't been too bad for January.

Hope you guys stay warm & dry!!

Oh brother more snow! Yes they are forecasting more snow for us too so that means no place to put the snow.

Doesn't look like it is going to be any warmth for a while, so I guess that means more and more snow.

Had to dig out a car last night and we had not place else to put the snow, so ended up putting it on a snow bank across the street from us!

Posted by: Robert Phoenix 01-Feb-2015, 06:01 PM
Snow fall hasn't been too much of an issue this winter. It's seems that we got our entire snowfall for the year in that first three days that it hit us. So far the temps have been in the -10 to 20 to 30 above range. So it 's been bearable although looks like we our going to go through about a week of 0 to 10 degree befoere it heads back to the teens and twenties next week. Jan and Feb are my worst months to live through up here. There is almost nothing going on outside of work and I don't own a snowmobile or ski so it's just sitting around and waiting it out. Hopefully I can make it down tot he Twin Cities for the Scottish Ramble this month.

Posted by: WallaceGal 01-Feb-2015, 06:29 PM
We've got 6 inches on the ground since this morning and are supposed to have at least another 6 before midnight and the snow will still continue til around 8 tomorrow morning. We might just get that extra 6 plus because it's been snowing twice as hard as earlier for the past hour and it's not letting up. I'm trying to decide if I'll go to work on not even bother. My normal ride is an hour. I don't think I want to spend 2-1/2 in the car first thing in the morning...

Posted by: WallaceGal 07-Feb-2015, 10:43 AM
One week later...

The snow is still here, we've had a few additional inches since the 'major' snowfall. But today, it's 33 out and semi-sunny so we'll see how much snow melts during the day today.

Posted by: Robert Phoenix 11-Feb-2015, 06:22 PM
Snowing here too. I was thinking of heading down to the Scottish ramble in the Twin Cities this weekend but the below zero temps forcast for Saturday are giving me second thoughts.

Posted by: WallaceGal 17-Mar-2015, 05:20 AM
Yesterday. it was 55 here. Today, it's 41 and that's our high. At 7am. It's only going to be in the mid 20's by the evening and stay that way again through the week. I'm ready for some warmer weather!

Posted by: munchkin5450 17-Mar-2015, 06:25 AM
We made it to the 60's yesterday..........it was gorgeous. Today, not so much. We're supposed to get to the upper 40's today, tomorrow, and Thursday. They're sayin' upper 50's on Friday. All in all I'll take this gladly over the Polar Freeze weather we've had off & on. By the way, Happy St. Patrick's Day! angel_not.gif

Pretty and sunny with rainbows and wee folk dancing bout the house and yard in twilin winds. I fear though cold is coming back for a bit still. I wish so to be making me garden. I pray Friday will be nice and sunny so I can take momma outside for her birthday.

Saw all these post and had a slight chuckle......as currently it is a sunny 85 with a slight ocean breeze as my toes dig into the sandy shore beaches of Ocean City, NJ. In a short while I will head back to the house and rest my weary bones on the front porch with a "cool drink" in my hand and give thanks for family and wonderful times like these!

Posted by: WallaceGal 23-Jul-2015, 05:39 PM
Finally! No rain, no 98 degrees, the cement in front of the garage is set and dry and I can drive my car in to work tomorrow. It's supposed to be 8, sunny and breezy! I've missed my car...

Oh well....last laugh on me! Back home in the City of Brotherly Love (Philadelphia) and as Glenn Frey would say "The heat is on...!" Sad to say we are looking at another heat wave for the coming week. Always the extreme never just right.

Posted by: lgreaseman 21-Aug-2015, 09:54 AM
Since the last post not much has changed...it is still hot. Last night we saw some thunderstorms to break the heat and humidity. So I am looking forward to pizza tonight at the swim club and spending some time down by the river with my wife, my dog and a good cigar...when life is simple, life is good! Other wise bring on Fall!!!!!!

It's funny how I'm compelled to report how the weather is when it's cold and snowing (nasty in my mind) yet when it's beautiful I don't comment in this post.
Well here goes.

It's beautiful out here in New England!

Don't mind the heat even when it's 90. However the humidity does get to me.
Hopefully the great weather keeps going.

Togo....I love the New England area. My father was born in Fall River... then they later moved to Burlington VT... then White Plains NY... before landing in Philadelphia. I used to tease him "one step ahead of the bill collector", but he assured it me it was due to lack of work. They had a big family and times were tough. I speak a lot time traveling up in the New England area and love it very much. Would love to move up there after the kids are grown....one can hope!

Posted by: lgreaseman 22-Aug-2015, 08:45 AM
Oh BTW... the humidity has dropped a little and it is downright nice here in Philadelphia. Supposed to be a high of 86 and cool at night...could fall be far off...Lord knows everything is friggin' pumpkin flavored already except the weather!!!!

Posted by: lgreaseman 26-Aug-2015, 08:07 PM
Finally some very nice weather! It was only 85 today and is already down to 60 degrees (brrrr msncoffecup.gif) He is hoping it holds out for awhile...

Posted by: lgreaseman 29-Aug-2015, 08:02 PM
I am afraid that the luck of the Irish might be running out for us in terms of the weather. While it is a cool 63 degrees right now at 10PM...Tomorrow is supposed to be the start of warmer weather and humidity moving back into the picture. At least we will have a sunny and warm weekend for Labor Day weekend and the end of summer!

Posted by: WallaceGal 30-Aug-2015, 07:42 AM
It's been raining here for better than 24h hours. I really wanted to go to the renaissance festival this weekend because it's the Highland weekend, but I can't wander in the rain like that. Makes me too sick. sad.gif

Posted by: Leelee 30-Aug-2015, 11:32 AM
It is a fair day 70 degrees F but very smoky here with air quality alerts caused by forest fires sad.gif

Posted by: lgreaseman 30-Aug-2015, 07:17 PM
Wallace Gal I will trade you some of my sunshine and heat for some of your rain??? We are down about three inches so far in the year! Just let me know when you want to switch....!!!

We survived the monsoon that went through Phoenix Valley last night. Thousands without electricity. Food Bank had to throw out all the food for homeless this morning as their electricity was not restored quickly enough. Many other horrible stories around the valley.

Posted by: lgreaseman 02-Sep-2015, 01:08 PM
Beadwire I am sorry to hear that....the homeless shelters struggle so much already without set backs like that. Although we are baking again today in another heat wave so I would take some of that rain off you right about now!!!

Posted by: munchkin5450 03-Sep-2015, 06:51 AM
Here in the Chicago area it's been heat & humidity since last week-end. There isn't any kind of a break forecast until after Labor Day either. Then we go from 90's to 80's which will be about normal for a change. Weird summer weather here this year.....one day sweltering and a week later putting fleece on because the high's are only in the low 70's and it feels like 50's! Not really complaining...I've lived here my whole life so I expect heat with humidity in the summer and freezing cold with snow in the winter. It's just the fluctuations seem to be more pronounced than usual.

Hope everyone has a great Labor Day holiday with plenty note.gif and lots of beer_mug.gif !

Posted by: lgreaseman 03-Sep-2015, 10:58 AM
Hoping for Thunderstorms tonight to break the heat wave...(I love thunderstorms!)

Posted by: munchkin5450 04-Sep-2015, 06:46 AM
Me, too. I particularly love to watch the lightening.......

Posted by: lgreaseman 04-Sep-2015, 10:59 AM
I generally sit (safely) outside during the storms...the greatest show on earth!

I hope everyone has a nice and safe Labor Day weekend partytime.gif wine.gif unclesam.gif beer_mug.gif

Our Labor day won't be spent outside! It's already 86 out, one in the afternoon, and 100% humidity. It's hard to breathe out there. So as much as I don't like air conditioning, today, I'm thankful I have it.

Happy Labor Day to all! beer_mug.gif

Posted by: Skinner 06-Sep-2015, 11:56 AM
Yes, it's 90 here with matching humidity in the Ohio valley. A little uncomfortable. Here's to everyone having a fun but safe (traveling) holiday

Posted by: lgreaseman 06-Sep-2015, 08:30 PM
Was nice today...87 but back in the soup starting tomorrow!

Posted by: lgreaseman 09-Sep-2015, 10:23 AM
Okay...I am patiently awaiting the cold front that is supposed to come today and break the 6th heat wave of the summer for my area. I am looking forward to shutting the air off and opening the windows! I hate having the house closed up like this. I am so looking forward to Fall....!!!!

Posted by: lgreaseman 14-Sep-2015, 08:45 PM
Yes.....just kicking it back tonight. Outside enjoying the Fall weather with a cup of coffee and nice cigar...and I tied all the citronella candles together and lit them all at once for a "poor man's city living fire pit"!

LOL on the candles! laugh.gif

It's 61 here, dark in the morning now when I leave for work sad.gif but going to be 81 and sunny so I finally drove my car in! YAY! Now, if I can only convince my boss to move my desk out into the parking lot under a tree...

Posted by: lgreaseman 15-Sep-2015, 02:17 PM
WallaceGal gotta ask...what the temp has to do with driving your car to work?

Likewise it is supposed to be 80's during the day going down to the 60's at night...and yes it is dark here in the morning when we walk the dog around 6:30am.

Posted by: TetonAndDistrictPerformingArts 04-Oct-2015, 12:11 AM
Today is Lorena McKennitt weather!

1) Over-cast

2) Cool

3) Rainy

4) Leaves turning, and falling.

So... with a cup of dark coffee in my hand, and "All soul's night" playing, its the beginning to a perfect day.

Posted by: WallaceGal 04-Oct-2015, 06:37 AM
@lgreaseman

I'm really sorry! I never got a notice that you'd posted.

I have a 2008 Roush Mustang. I only drive it when it's nice out. It's not the temp, it's the rain, mud, heavy fog...I drove it a little more this year so it's up to 18K on the mileage, but generally, I don't drive it when the weather's bad. And it's stored all winter. So I'm always excited when the weather is nice smile.gif

Today however, it's rainy, foggy, cold and just altogether miserable. I'd really like to finish pulling weeds, but I'm not doing that in this weather. I've already been sick for a week. sad.gif

I was up at the White Mountains this weekend in North Conway, New Hampshire with a group of 22 members of the family. We rented 2 houses and had a blast! One of our favorite places to visit.
Beautiful sunny crisp 55 - 60 degree weather all weekend during the day. Yesterday morning woke up at 6am to go out to get coffee to a nippy 30 degrees. Certainly woke the body up!

Posted by: TetonAndDistrictPerformingArts 06-Oct-2015, 11:05 PM
Here in Idaho... Sunny, mid 60s, blue skies. Perfect kilt-wearing weather!

Posted by: five4 22-Oct-2015, 07:42 AM
at 0900 it's 75 and sunny with moderate humidity and not expecting it to be any different the next week or so...around 70 at night and upper 80's during the day.

Posted by: togo 05-Feb-2016, 06:00 AM
Well we are getting 4 to 8 inches of snow today.
However this has been the easiest winter I have ever remembered! Temperature wise and snow wise. Fairly moderate temps all winter and really no snow.
Knock on wood!
But last year we had no snow til the end of January but then it never seemed to stop til mid March!

Posted by: five4 16-Feb-2016, 10:55 AM
Glad to hear of the mild winter for you togo but to listen to the weather reports down here they would have you believe another "killer" winter was upon you with devastating storms and temperatures from Atlanta to Boston. Here we are pretty much back to normal with temps in the mid to upper 70's during the day and mid 50's at night. I am glad our cold spell is past (for now at least) those day time temps in the 6o's falling way down to the frigid 40's at night are brutal, weather no fit for man nor beast...I will say one thing though and that is the citrus growers are not adverse to a night or two in the 30's as it helps set the flavor and color of the fruit.

Posted by: togo 16-Feb-2016, 07:50 PM
Oh five4 a couple of days ago we did get the deep freeze. - 13 for a couple of mornings. I don't think I've ever seen the temp that low...ever here!
Today rain and 52. A swing of 65 degrees in a 36 hour period.
Amazing.

Posted by: togo 04-Feb-2017, 08:10 PM
Here in Massachusetts we have had a very easy winter so far. Temps mostly in the 30's all winter and not much snow. Keeping my fingers crossed for the rest of the season. (not a big snow and cold weather guy).

How's your winter been so far??

Posted by: five4 05-Feb-2017, 07:26 AM
Pretty good so far...about 2 weeks ago we had a couple of mornings where we woke up to low 40's, had to pop the heater on just to take the chill off ( set the thermostat at 60 ) Around here a 20 to 30 degree swing in weather this time of year is du jour. Overcast and chance of thunder showers and low 80's most of the week but still around 80 late this afternoon so we will be watching the game outside...

Been busier than a one armed paper hanger since mid summer. Glad you posted, it makes me take the time to reply...Cheers.

Weather here has been fluctuating from cold, warm, etc.. Cannot wait till spring when its as I like to call it Goldylocks weather, not to hot, yet, not to cold. Perfect!! Thankfully, this next three days, its in the 50s and we get thunderstorms on Tuesday which I absolutely love!!! smile.gif

Posted by: togo 07-Feb-2017, 05:21 AM
I spoke too soon. May have jinxed myself with the uneventful winter so far. I should have known better after all it is New England.

No school today due to ice storm. Impending snow coming on Thursday. Looks like several inches.

This week in New England:

Tues: Ice Storm
Wed: 55 degrees
Thurs: 12 inch snow storm
Fri: 18 degrees

Rough March. Up and down, cold, snow here in New England but April has been pretty good.
This week 50/60's. (80 on Easter though!)
Spring is springing. Great time of year.

Posted by: WallaceGal 15-Apr-2017, 06:24 AM
It's raining here in Michigan, but is supposed to stop in another hour or so and then shoot up to 78. Huuuuuuuuuuumidity!!!! Needless to say, I doubt I'll be working in the yard today sad.gif

Posted by: five4 15-Apr-2017, 06:52 AM
Sunny and clear here in SW Florida, 68 now with 94% humidity. Temperature rising to about 84 by 3:00 while the humidity is dropping to about 35% around 5:00...Skol, ya'll

Overcast but 70 in the Middle TN Mountains today. Rain all week for us!

Here in North Louisiana it's cloudy and 76°. So a ok day for spring.

Posted by: five4 21-Apr-2017, 02:55 PM
Mighty dry here in SW Florida. Plenty of brush fires. Could really use some rain about now...

Posted by: Robert Phoenix 21-Apr-2017, 05:26 PM
Yesterday's snowstorm gave us less than an inch of snow. The rest of the Upper Michigan got hit more. Sunny today but still cold.

Posted by: ogdenmusic 27-Apr-2017, 05:40 AM
Southern Ohio is wet today, rain and low 70's

Posted by: WallaceGal 27-Apr-2017, 07:29 AM
It poured around eleven last night with huge boomers going off, for about three hours. One of our dobes heard the thunder before it woke us and was in my face on the bed, so he slept under the covers with me until almost three this morning. I'm tired. And we're going to get a lot more during the day...

Posted by: Derek3646 03-May-2017, 08:26 AM
Sunny here and 71° on this nice spring day here in Bastrop.

Posted by: togo 22-Apr-2018, 06:16 PM
Well in Massachusetts we finally hit 60 degrees today!

Tough start to spring this year.
April is hit or miss here but this year so far it's been a miss. Many periods of rain, low temperatures, and even a few episodes of snow.
And March was tough as well as we had low temperatures and several snow storms and a few Nor'easters as they are known here.

"A nor’easter is a macro-scale cyclone occurring along the upper East Coast of the United States and Atlantic Canada. The name derives from the direction of the strongest winds—as an offshore air mass rotates counter-clockwise, winds tend to blow northeast-to-southwest over the land in those regions."

Yeah those.

(Funny in February we had a day in the 70's)

Posted by: Robert Phoenix 22-Apr-2018, 08:43 PM
It's finally starting to warm up here after our big snowstorm last weekend. I thought I would never see grass again!

Posted by: togo 03-Dec-2019, 07:49 AM
The last 2 days we have had 16 inches of snow up here in New England. It is December but highly unusual for so much so early in the season.
Schools have been cancelled the last couple of days as well. Still snowing heavily as I speak.

How about you areas??

Posted by: WallaceGal 03-Dec-2019, 08:20 AM
I'm jealous! We've had another light dusting this morning, but that's all.

Posted by: togo 17-Feb-2021, 06:09 AM
Up in New England we have a few inches of snow on the ground right now. More snow coming tomorrow. 3-6 inches.
We’ve had snow cover on the ground for much of the winter but not really high amounts. And temperatures have not been too bad this winter, mostly around the upper 20’s and lower 30’s. Couple of cold snaps here and there.
Overall, compared to a “usual” winter, not too bad at all this year.

I know in southern parts of the United States (Teaxas) the cold is causing havoc right now.

How is the weather in your area and how has your “winter” (Dec, Jan, Feb) been??

Posted by: WallaceGal 17-Feb-2021, 04:51 PM
Well, a couple days ago, we got about a foot of snow in my part of Michigan, contrary to what the weather people want us to believe (7 inches...HAH!) and I know this because I just trudged out to the bird feeder and it was up to my knees! To top it off, this morning, it was minus 10 degrees. One of those weeks...

Posted by: CelticRadio 18-Feb-2021, 05:30 PM
Just COLD COLD COLD. Looking forward to the spring when I can at least walk around the yard and to some outdoor stuff. I think the pandemic makes it worse as we really don't want to interact with too many people until we get the vaccine. Hopefully later this year things will start to come back to normal.

Posted by: McRoach 11-Jun-2023, 06:04 PM
Rainy and cool here in the Western US. I will take that over the blistering heat which is undoubtedly on its way in the coming weeks. Hope those still alive and kicking in the CR forums are enjoying the end of spring 2023!

Posted by: Haggishead 18-Jun-2023, 08:31 PM
First day in a long time without rain. Went from heavy snows in the early Spring to rain each day. Rivers and stream flooding in our area. Pretty crazy.

Posted by: KingArthur 24-Jun-2023, 11:10 AM
We've had a good week in the Northeast - but it is rain rain rain for the weekend and I hear rest of the week. Thunderstorms for tomorrow.

Seems like for us it was a cool spring compared to other years which I don't mind!
