I don't drink, but I have got the approval of admin. to post links to articles in the cigar-related webzine I publish Cigar Weekly

My managing editor Doug Kuebler is a true wordsmith, especially in his series of articles "A Rich Pour" which appear in the Lifestyles section. Doug hails from Montreal, and writes about many potent potables, but his love is that which comes from NORTH of Hadrian's Wall.

Here's his latest column on "whisky" as opposed to a more recent on on whiskEy.
A Rich Pour: Spirits of Independents

I pray you enjoy Doug's writings and insights. There will be more back articles made available.

Whisky?? Did I see that right!!!!

I went and took a look at the article and (I don't smoke cigars)Oh my Sgnatory Scotch Whisky, I have picked 3 that I wouldn't mind tasting and they are Glenallachie, Linkwood and I am leaning towards Littlemill as the one that would hook me. Of course their "Horribly Expensive" one sounds good too. cheers.gif

OK, I fixed the older articles.

I'll give you just a couple more, if you don't mind my shameless promotion. I know it might seem gauche, I apologize.

RedPop4;
When I visited Scotland in 07 I stayed with my cousin Allister and his wife Linda and was surprised when Allister showed me his collection of Scotch. Now not being a drinker I though this is unusual until he explained that it was no different than collecting stamps or works of art. He showed me a catalouge from an auction he had attended and I was stunned by what people pay for these bottles of "Aqua
Vita" there was a bottle that went for 8000 pounds ( over $17,000.00). His collection of 22 bottles is worth about $25,000.00 Canadian. He offered me a drink from his household supply which I politely refused as I don't drink, but even when I did drink I hated Scotch, can't even abide the smell of it. Some Scotsman Eh!.

Evidently I am not alone in the joys of single malt. My world has expanded a little. Good links and good information! Thanks.

Just had a wee bit o' Lismore and Glen Morangie to take the chill off after helping the kid work on his truck (at 18 degrees with a 40 MPH wind!)

Used to enjoy cigars but gave up about 7 years ago. But have the odd drop of whiskey now and again. There is a village near to me where the mini supermarket has a fantastic collection of whiskeys in a room out the back didn't realise how many there were, will read that article when I have a moment, cheers

I have two bottles of Glenfiddich 18 yr old Single Malt. As I have had them for about 7 years, that makes them 25 now. Since they are for a special occasion, I have no idea of the age at which they will be consumed.

Whiskey does not age in the bottle. It will taste the same as the day it came out of the cask. tongue.gif

Aye, the Glenfiddich 18 is an excellent malt, have one in my own collection.

My rarest and unopened is a 11 Yr. old Edradour "Straight from the Cask" I acquired during a trip to Scotland and on a distillery tour. That was purchased in in 2001 and I am waiting for a truly special occasion to open that one .

As for cigars, since I quit smoking I don't dare light one up, though I do miss a good cigar now and then.
