"I am a Canadian by birth, but I am a Highlander by blood and feel under an obligation to do all I can for the sake of the Highlanders and their literature.... I have never yet spoken a word of English to any of my children. They can speak as much English as they like to others, but when they talk to me they have to talk in Gaelic."
-Alexander Maclean Sinclair of Goshen (protector of Gaelic Culture)
Well, the last five minutes was hockey, anyway. Why they couldn't have pulled like that in the first, I don't know. As soon as that power play hit, they were on their game. Not sure why they didn't pull the goalie in the last 20 seconds though. It's a last chance, so no goalie wouldn't have hurt, but an extra man on the sticks may have changed everything.
Many moons ago, I was born in Ontario. Then when I was just a babe, my family migrated to the land of the mighty Red Wings, where I resided for over three decades. Then the love of my life and the father of my two bairns decided it was time to make a change in our lives. We searched and we searched to find a new land. It turned out to be the commonwealth of the great state of Kentucky. We are very happy here, but, do you know that they do not have ANY pro sports!! That is a good thing, but a bit strange to a lass who lived for so many years in the Detroit area with the Red Wings, the Pistons, the Tigers and the Lions.
So, the results are that I still follow the mightly Red Wings!!!
Hmm... ice, skates, sticks, goals, no tutus... looked like hockey to me...
No disrespect intended to y'all who are dissapointed - but since my team (the LA Kings) didn't even make the playoffs, I was rooting for Tampa Bay - IMHO, every once in a while a team that hasn't ever won the Cup before needs to win, if only to prevent complacency.
Next year, in fairness, when the Kings don't make the playoffs (again), and if Boston doesn't make the finals (again) I promise to root for any Canadian team in the Finals.

Where now the horse and the rider? Where is the horn that was blowing? Where is the helm and the hauberk, and the bright hair flowing? Where is the hand on the harpstring, and the red fire glowing? Where is the spring and the harvest and the tall corn growing? They have passed like rain on the mountain, like a wind in the meadow The days have gone down in the West behind the hills into shadow Who shall gather the smoke of the dead wood burning Or behold the flowing years from the Sea returning? ~ J.R.R. Tolkien
If there is a next year, I'd like to see the Blackhawks win Lord Stanley's cup. The last time they won was back in 1963, back in the days of Bobby Hull and Stan Mikita.

May the Irish hills caress you. May her lakes and rivers bless you. May the luck of the Irish enfold you. May the blessings of Saint Patrick behold you.

Ah! Gotcha! It would be weird to move from a state where the masses are rabid about hockey to somewhere where people would say, "Red What?"
I think the entire Montreal Canadiens should be shipped up to the arctic circle all summer, so when the season starts again, they actually play good hockey. It would be nice to cheer for them again, and have an actual reason to.

Can the Blackhawks come too ? Also, can we give Jocelyn Thibault back ?
