I picked up a news release about this ten min. ago. I assume it is in Calgary though I missed the city. I was "multi-tasking" at the time.

Patch;

Yeah Bush is coming to Calgary, The Cowboy Capitol of Canada. The subject of his speech will be "Reflections of Eight years in the White House" It is a private function so it will be mostly Tories (Conservatives) who attends. There is also a large American expat population in Calgary.

I do not note much enthusiasm in your tone. (just an attempt at levity)

Considering the topic, it should be a relatively short speech. I will allow that there might be some humor as I would expect him to butcher the english language.

Patch;

OH! it is English he speaks. I thought it was Klingon on some other exotic foreign tongue. I guess that what you get when you go to Harvard or some other Ivy League elitist school.

PS: I wonder how much Daddy paid for his Diploma?

My guess, is he was a cheer leader and party animal and someone else got his education (took his classes and did his papers) They just didn't get a diploma. I suspect he cost Daddy a bundle. I could not have decided to take a couple of years vacation from the military in the middle of my tour of service and I know what would have happened had I refused to obey an order to take a drug test. They certainly would not have JUST told me me to go home.

Maybe he can clarify those things during one of his speaking engagements. I wonder if he will use the "ear bud' and recite the speech in 4 to 6 word bursts, repeating what he hears on the ear bud as he did while president. When he takes off on his own is when he butchers the language.

I know several Democrats who are beginning to think he might have been better than what we have now. All things are relative.

Is the halo starting to slip on the Messiah. He comes here in 6 days and already the pundits are lining up to ask their questions. There is a background feeling that relations between our countries is going to take a turn for the worse. I hope not but what we have now is a Bush clone as P.M. and a Liberal Pres. the sparks should start soon. Lets just hope its Sparklers and not fireworks. As you go we go and vice versa. Right now we possibly need each other more than ever in our long history as friends and allies.

I agree. As various South American countries are getting testy (maybe for cause) it could just come down to just the two of us. I just read that your banking regulations have kept your institutions in better shape than any in the world. Ours are in the middle somewhere and Europe is in terrible shape.

Patch; Right now there is still a bit of Obamamania up here but as I said when you have a Bush Clone in the Highest office you know he is not going to go along with everything that Obama wants. Not that Canada always goes along with the states. I talking about solving this economic boondoggle were in. Harper doesn't like to take advice from anyone up to and including the Supreme Being. It has alway been his way or the highway since he was elected. Anywho it is going to be interesting hearing what Georgie has to say to the North Texans (Albertans). He should be right at home in Calgary, The Home of the Stampede.

Sorry it took a while to catch this. I have been doing a lot of reading and research on the economy. I may turn out to be a real self educated economic wizard.

I hope to catch the speech. It should be interesting.

From what I hear, Canada has not done much to avert the "alleged" crisis. You may come through the quickest and in the best shape. Should you eventually take over our country, I humbly beg that you will be kind to us.

Sounds like Harper had the bush philosophy.

It should be postage and handling only, like Sarah Palin's calander.

Patch;

If it should happen that we take over we will be a most benevolent leader. Providing of course that you "bear true and faithful allegiance to Her Majesty Queen Liz 2 and her decendents" ( with the exception of Charlie, we want the crown to go directly to William).Tis but a minor thing. That and $1.25 gets you a cup of coffee plus $200.00 gets you citizenship and another $80. gets you a passport. We make our money on the merchandise, Tee shirts, Maple Leafs and of course Beaver Tails. Oh yeah Canada goose feathers make excellent flight feather for arrows.

'Had' is the right word there, Patch. He did have the "Stay the course", "Don't blink" philosophy, and Canadians were freaking out. Then the Coalition (Liberal/NDP/Bloc) threatened to dethrone him if he didn't take some action, so now he has a new philosophy. We have a Conservative Government delivering a Liberal Budget. There is a lot being done to avert the crisis, or at least keep it from spreading too far in Canada. Economic Stimulus is now on as many Canadian tongues as it is on American ones.

hey hey hey hey hey . . . .

I was Ivy myself, Brown being admittedly a tad less exalted than Harvard or Yale -- full scholarship, no rich daddy, just brains and talent enough to convince them to let me in and let me out again with honors. Let's not tar everyone with that brush. dry.gif

That said -- condolences for the ordeal; just keep slugging the Pepsi til it's over. I think it's beyond rich that he should be up there dispensing any kind of message at all. See if you have some land with a lot of dead brush for him to clear -- like all of Alberta.
