| Where was LOTR filmed in New Zealand? I know it was filmed there, but does anyone know where? |

| The movie was filmed all over New Zealand. On the Extended Edition DVD set is a navigable map, which allows you to see where the major outdoor sets were constructed. There is quite a bit on the DVD on the construction of various sets, such as Helm's Deep and Edoras. Some sets were indoors of course, even the scenes inside Fangorn. All of the outdoor sets are gone now, except for part of Hobbiton. The production crew moved plants from where buildings were built and moved the plants back afterward so as to have as little impact to the landscape as possible. |
