This was a song that we all learned as children - about the Black Watch - they think it was inspired by 'Whae widnae fecht fur Chairlie' - a Jacobite song... They are certainly sung to the same tune (I am typing the words from memory, so the verses may be in the wrong order. Although the first verses are written in Lallans, the third and last verses were always sung in the Doric - ie the accent of Aberdeen and surrounding areas - hence the Fa for 'wha' and 'ava' for 'at all) )...
